Travelers' Choice
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer.

A beautifully restored gem of a hotel in Mason City --- Frank Lloyd Wright designed this hotel and the adjoining bank and it's simply perfect. Worth seeing if you don't stay there but do stay as it's lovely. The rooms are beautifully appointed, tasteful and just so cool! A memorable hotel. We loved the wine room in the cellar and yes, there is pool table in River City (Meredith Wilson grew up in Mason City which is said to be the site of the Music Man!). The staff is very attentive too. My only disappointment was that they don't offer more than free coffee for breakfast. There aren't too many breakfast options in town so that was a bit of an issue as we love breakfast. However the restaurants nearby - the Quarry in particular - are truly good and fun for lunch and supper. Quarry appetizers are especially fun. The outdoor courtyard for seating is a real treat. And the State Street Dinner just up the street was great for homemade soups, sandwiches and brownies for lunch. Excellent!

This was our second stay and is now our go hotel when visiting Mason City. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable.. We were sad to find out the 1910 had permanently closed, but the hotel is conveniently located to other dining options.

The Park Inn offers excellent guided tours, but they are no substitute for actually staying and taking in the beauty and remarkable detailing of the last remaining hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The hotel is well managed and it’s comfortable guest rooms offer all modern conveniences. Though the Inn’s restaurant is not currently open, there are several very good options close by. And don’t leave this lovely town without visiting the Stockman House designed by Wright and the amazing collection of Prairie and Craftsman style houses nearby it.

Very nicely restored Frank Lloyd Wright-designed hotel, the last one standing. Has its quirks, as you'd expect with Wright, but beautiful, comfortable, with modern mechanicals. Walking distance from the Stockman House and the nearby collection of Prairie School houses (Rock Crest-Rock Glen National Historic District). The attached restaurant is excellent.
