Detailed Reviews
Comfy, roomy, sparkling clean bungalows right on the fantastic beach lined with palapas and beach chairs, the mostly shallow, warm turquoise water graced with a constructed deeper swimming area. Not many people were there for our 3-night visit, so the beach was wonderfully private and luxurious. The food was plentiful with limited, bland options. We were okay with that because the place was all-inclusive with a budget per-person price. The choice of drinks was limited, too, but again, the price was right, and Trinidad is a bus or taxi ride away. One major downside for us: no one, and I mean no one, spoke English.

We really enjoyed our stay, we were in a small bungalow facing the sea and the beach just 75 feet away.
We are very satisfied considering the location, the tranquility of the place and the food.
It's Cuba, the price was excellent, the food too, however no fish or seafood but the rest of the food was very good. Bring your wine as none are available, but beer and rum galore.
For 1 week, we only went to the beach, no city visits, so only rest.
The site/location, the beach, everything was very clean and we were pleasantly surprised with our bungalow.
Not once missed water or hot water.
It's a very good hotel, we very much enjoyed our stay from January 12 to 19, 2024.
P.S. the sunsets there are magnificent.

Six of us stayed at the CostaSur for 2 weeks in January 2024, our second visit. It was a bit strange.
The resort was about 20% full This meant that the a la carte restaurant and the gym were closed and the evening entertainment was on about twice a week. When we complained, we were given a lobster dinner in the almost deserted cafeteria. But there were advantages to the low occupancy. It was very quiet and relaxed. No problem finding a lounger on the beach. And the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.
The food was well prepared but bland with limited selection. There was always enough food.
When we got bored with the food we went into Trinidad and ate very well.
There are other positives. The beach is the best place to swim on the Ancon Peninsula. The Bungalows are huge and overlooking the beach.
The proximity to Trinidad made up for the shortcoming
In the end we all agreed that, in spite of the problems, we were glad we stayed there and would return in the future.
To summarize: the Costasur is not a good place to stay if you want to party or if you are a foodie. But its great if you are looking for a quiet, inexpensive place to say if you want to relax and spend time in Trinidad.

We can not understand the previous horrible reviews for Costasur, We did not regret booking this vacation at any moment. The flight with Air Transat was good, the transfer to and from the airport was efficient and organized with incredible views thru the mountains. We were well taken care of upon arrival and escorted to our beautiful half of a bungalow on the beach. An enormous room and bed, clean and comfortable, the bathroom equally good with never a lack of hot water. We loved the location, so close to the beach and beach bar and a short stroll to the main lobby and the buffet. We never went hungry and especially enjoyed the fresh shrimp cooked on demand, the roast pig and ice cream. The staff on the entire resort was friendly, helpful and always have a smile for you. We didn't use the pool, being beach people but looked, clean, cool and inviting. They were constantly making improvements all over the resort, new stairs, new murals, new loungers, new beach umbrellas, the entire time we were there. And Trinidad is a hop on/off bus away that runs daily. A beautiful, old city with handmade souvenirs, not the factory stuff. And we suggest a horse carriage ride thru the city to see all the sites. Incredible. We also used a local guide Hector Hernandez (hectorguidecienfuegos@gmail.com) who with his driver, picked us up at the hotel and took us to El Nicho Falls. We had an awesome hike, lunch and were returned to the hotel for a very reasonable price. And on top of it all, the entire two weeks, we did not see one drop of rain. We were also included in an awesome repeaters celebration as it was our second but not our last to this beautiful little gem. Was our 11th trip to Cuba. Thank you Club Amigo

Several years ago we went to Costasur and loved it. Since then, the Costasur has been renovated and it really looks good for a 3 star. The places are clean, well maintained. The staff is basic: do the minimum required, not very friendly, even with tips. Very few smiles. As there is the brand new Mélia right next door, it seems to me that those who are at Costasur are those who did not have the chance to be hired at Mélia, so are suffering their fate. The first two days, no hot water, then, no water, no electricity, we don't worry too much because it's Cuba and we know there are shortages. The BUFFET: every day, for 10 days, the same thing. Really !! in the morning, juice so stretched with water that it has no taste, small pancakes, eggs. For lunch and dinner, pork, eggs, pasta, 2 kinds of fruit (always the same), rice, bread, some fresh vegetables, sweet potatoes and squash. No variety. That’s It! I understand that it's a three star, so we don't expect a 5, but for the 12 years that we have been coming to Cuba, in 2.5, 3 and 3.5 star hotels, the latter were really superior in terms of food and staff. . There was also a big hygiene problem, because several of us, including the maid, had stomach upset! Coming back, no thanks!

A magnificent holiday
I was in the hotel for a few days and I think I return again to my vacation, I was in a room facing the sea in front of the so-called natural pool, it was magnificent the view and the attentions of Isabel, drink varieties for a hotel of the attentions in bars and restaurants as well as Susanna in customer service was divine. Finally highlight the role of Miguel and his team, focused on every detail.
I recommend it 100%

We spent a wonderful weekend at this hotel which although it has 3 stars has a luxury service and attention. My wife and daughter really enjoyed the buffet food which was always delicious. I also want to thank Bartender Manuel of the Snack Bar for his personalized attention and dedication to us at all times. Definitely a place I recommend to spend quality family time.

I had no expectations with everything that is said about Cuba that it lacks everything.
I had known that this hotel had recently been renovated and it is really very good for one of the oldest hotels in Trinidad. The Reception went very, very well with Daniella with her magnificent smile and Migel who gave me excellent service up to my room.
All the staff are super nice.
To my great surprise I have a magnificent large bedroom in the Bungalow section with sea view with a small living room and two air conditioning units.
But yes, it's Cuba, my safe didn't work and neither did the toilet, but they quickly sent me a very nice person to do the repair. The food is very good and of good quality, everything is very clean.
The beach is rather ordinary but nice with plenty of chairs.
I recommend this beautiful and charming hotel and especially to visit the magnificent city of Trinidad, 15 minutes by taxi or day bus.
Happy Holidays !

During my visit to the Costa Sur Hotel everything was great. I had a very good experience. I shared with my family all the experiences of other vacations in different hotels, but at the Costa Sur Hotel. I was amazed. The show caught my attention a lot, and then, at the end of the show, the club showed very good service. Luxury animation. I recommend my friends visit this complex.

Actually, we were already down here when we went to Costasur. I think Holasun has packages, although I could only see availability for April. Other friends who are at Costasur now booked through a travel agent and got the dates they wanted. Not sure why the Holasun website is so wonky with dates. The resort is only 10% filled... It's like having it all to yourself.
If you buy the All Inclusive package than yes they are included. Not sure how much they cost if you don’t. But there is a store with bottles of Rum for as cheap as $3 Cuc and you can sit anywhere on the resort and drink.
There are numerous slender long legged cats, a smaller one eared tabby of violent disposition and a charming black dog with a long body, short legs, one floppy ear up and the other down who follows the staff around. It is the living embodiment of canine good humour. He is short haired like a Jack Russell and is I think called Negrito...is that Blackie?
Im sorry, I don’t know the name of the person you are looking for, but I can recommend others ( TA- not sure this is allowed please remove post if I am in violation). I have friends that are now doing various tours via air bnb experiences. If you look up for Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus, Cuba , I can recommend tours by Mari – “Discover Real Life in Trinidad “ and her “Coffee…my own way”. Her Husband William ( Pepeu) does “ Hike to views with an athlete “ . Both speak English very well. Info on the tours and prices are on the website.
just came back on Jan 20th and not sure if they're are mosquitoes but holy moly got bit from head to toe from something despite using a deet 30 from home here.
