Stayed one night at the inn which has sort of a B & B feel. Upon going upstairs to our room, all vacant rooms had the doors wide open so you could see the interior. Our room was filled with Victorian charm and the bathroom was very adequate. (Limited space to set your stuff). Sunday morning buffet (included with room... More

We wanted to have a good location for our road trip to see the Van Buren Villages and Fort Madison looked interesting. The hotel was charming lots of nice little details and a comfortable room HOWEVER the breakfast was very disappointing we have better than this at home. It was do it yourself service we saw no staff member at... More

I love remodeled historic hotels like this. Each room is decorated differently in a style that calls back to the 1920s. We secured two rooms and one was decorated with an emerald green while the other was in a light pink. Both rooms had lovely flatscreen TV's and their own individual air conditioning unit. There is a lovely modern elevator... More

When we arrived to check in there was nobody at the front desk. We happen to see a small piece of paper that said to enter the adjacent restaurant in somebody would help us get checked in. After entering the restaurant in asking for help we waited another 15 minutes before somebody arrived. The restaurant was not that busy to... More

Very pretty hotel. The room was facing the river, very nice room and bathroom. The trains didn't bother us at all. We ate at the attached restaurant, very good dinner. The breakfast at the hotel was so good, very nice set-up. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

We were looking for lodging and had seen several places on the west side along the strip. A local mentioned the Kingsley in downtown Fort Madison and we were happy to find this gem. The location right along the waterfront was perfect. Parking was available and we could walk to everything we wanted to do. The room was nicely decorated... More

The Kingsley Inn is very clean and decorated with early era antiques and decor. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms are very clean too. It's like going back in time! It's what you would expect for the rates that are charged. If you choose to stay here ask for a room that is in the back of the inn. Mainline train... More

The staff are friendly and helpful! The rooms are beautiful, clean, cheerful! Staying here is an experience. We were on the Southeast Iowa Studio Art Tour, and had planned to camp. Chilly chilly temps sent us looking for lodging. I plan to do the Art Tour again next year, and will reserve a room and the Kingsley Inn.

The Kingsley Inn is a historic building (I think it was once a steam laundry) right in downtown Fort Madison and directly across from the historic Fort Madison park and the Mississippi River. So, you can't beat the location. The rooms are a tiny bit frumpy - I'm not really into doilies - but so much better than the run-down... More
