We arrived 15 minutes before check in , which is 4 pm. We did not get our room until 5:40 pm. Almost 2 hours later. The staff seemed unconcerned and no discount was offered. We were told there was a lot of early checkins however we part of a wedding room block and the front desk refused to give us... More

We certainly apologize for the lack of care upon check-in and acknowledge that the wait for your room was unacceptable. We do hope to have the opportunity to speak with you directly in regards to follow-up on the details of your arrival and bathroom ceiling condition so that we may address specifically. Conveniently located in downtown. The lobby area is setup very nicely for business travelers - I really liked the high tables that have TVs and outlets. The rooms were decorated nicely and utile - easy access to outlets. No free Wi-Fi however, which is very annoying since that's usually a given in all other hotels I visit.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in early July. We were in town for a wedding. Everything at the hotel was exceptional. From the initial contact with the valet to the final check out. The parking was a bit excessive ($25 a night). I would expect that rate from a larger city, not Des Moines. The valet... More

The location is centrally located downtown with short walk or drive to restaurants and bars. The rooms are comfortable, clean and large including a refrigerator and Keurig Coffee maker, ironing board/ iron, large closet, desk, chairs and telephone. The large comfortable beds are marshmallow plush with soft white bedding. Large windows and cold A/C! Bathrooms are well stocked, a bit... More

I stayed here for two nights while on a business trip. Thus was a very nice hotel. All the staff that I encountered were pleasant and friendly. My room was what you would expect from a Marriott hotel - with all the standard amenities including a Keurig coffee machine and a small refrigerator. The hotel has a good location in... More

Girls weekend to Iowa to run a half marathon, and we stayed at the Downtown Marriott. It was a great location to our race, and restaurants/bars for afterwards! The hotel was clean, but the elevators were very slow! It met our needs and I would stay there again next time I visit Des Moines.

Plain on the outside, you enter into a really interesting area. Great lobby area leading to the breakfast lounge where we had a great breakfast. The room was high up, a good view at night. The room was like all the other Marriotts we have been in, nothing wrong with that at all.

We were in Des Moines for a wedding, not in the Marriott. The room and the staff were great, but the Starbucks in the lobby where we had breakfast was pitiful! There was only one overworked person to run it. They were out of pastries both mornings.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Initially, I was unable to use the code that was provided by the coordinator of the seminar that was taking place at the hotel, to make my reservations online. Then I called twice and the reservations desk was unable to figure out how to go about booking the hotel... More
