This historic hotel near the river is stunning. It has the kind of grand stairway Hollywood loves to follow with the camera. The lobby is a classic with dark wood, wonderful art, beautiful wallpaper and a fireplace. Our room was spacious and romantic, with a comfortable king bed and seating area. The bathroom had a fabulous spa tub big enough...

Great location, attentive staff and very good restaurant (We usually avoid hotel restaurants but learned from the locals that this is one of the best in at the area). The restaurant focuses on local organic and free-range foods. We rented a king room. It was very quiet and clean. The whirlpool tub was a nice luxury. The historic building is...

This is the nicest renovated classic hotel I've even stayed in. And the staff and restaurant meet the same high standards. If you are within 50 miles it's worth driving here for a great nights stay. Every detail has been carefully planned.

Accompanied by our favorite traveling companions, we finally completed our visit to Decorah, Iowa, that was rained out last spring. Arriving in October, however, proved even more enjoyable, as fall colors enhanced the beauty of the locale and the gracious hotel in which we stayed. Hotel Winneshiek rooms are spacious and elegantly appointed, and the privacy and quiet atmospheres of...

Being a native Decorahan I have always wanted to stay at the Winneshiek but by its reputation I thought it would be too expensive - we had the pleasure of staying there for 3 nights in October and found the cost mid-week very reasonable. Our king room was spacious with a spa tub. This was a challenge to get in...

My wife and I stayed here 2 nights in October. This is a beautiful time to visit this area of Iowa. Rolling hills and trees changing colors! The hotel was very clean, and beautiful on the inside. They have done a good job of renovation! What impressed me most was the quality of the food the restaurant served. The breakfasts...

My husband and I decided on a whim to drive over to Decorah for an overnight trip. I called the Winneshiek and found they had a few rooms on a Sunday night. The woman was very nice on the phone. When we checked in, again a lovely woman helped us and gave us some good information on the menu in...

Our room was very comfortable, the staff was very accommodating, and I loved being right in the center of Decorah. There is an old-fashioned elegance about the hotel that makes it more interesting than our usual chain of hotels stay.

I was in the hotel for two nights and found everyone there to be great, friendly, accommodating, and caring. The hotel is a beautiful restored place, full of charm, and a great size, right on the main street in downtown and across from a JC Penny. There's no mall so the department store is downtown in the old fashioned way....

My wife and I decided on a last-minute trip to NE Iowa to do some bike riding enjoy the fall colors. The Trout Run bike trail was the main reason for choosing Decorah. We tried to book a B&B, but there were no rooms at the inns. We were pleasantly surprised to find a vacancy at the Winneshiek. The hotel...
