The Hotel Winneshiek is a terrific choice for parents who are visiting students at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. The rooms are spacious and clean, the restaurant food is excellent (especially breakfast), and the central location makes it easy to get around town. Also, live music in the lobby adds to the ambience.

This place is not you typical chain hotel, and that's a good thing. Right on the main street, nice rooms ( strretside rooms can be a little noisy). The place is aging a bit and could use a little TLC - our room(s), the Presidential suite, had drape closures that were in need of repair, no plates/silverware in the mini-kitchen,...

Large fine quality updated hotel in downtown Decorah, Iowa with very appealing decor and historic architecture. We stayed in mid- November 2014 so got a discount on the same suite President Obama stayed in when he visited this quaint town a few years ago. Lots of space, fine restaurant in evening, great detailed service. A great midwest feel to the...

Bed comfort is something I am really picky about. I have a weak lower back and I must have a firm mattress. The beds we had while here were the best I have ever slept on. No morning back ache when getting up and a very good night's sleep. The chef dishes served for the evening meal are highly recommended....

This is a nice hotel. It is right in heart of the downtown area and has a vintage feel to it. We stayed one night while our daughter did an overnight stay at Luther College. We stayed on the third floor. The room was nice. The carpet a little worn and old looking. The view from our window, a brick...

After looking at the reviews for Hotel Winneshiek, I decided to spring and pay (since it's NOT inexpensive) to stay here since it sounded really nice. And it definitely was. The front desk staff was friendly, and check-in was quick. The room was massive, clean, and comfortable. The wireless internet did not work particularly well in the room, though. It...

This historic hotel near the river is stunning. It has the kind of grand stairway Hollywood loves to follow with the camera. The lobby is a classic with dark wood, wonderful art, beautiful wallpaper and a fireplace. Our room was spacious and romantic, with a comfortable king bed and seating area. The bathroom had a fabulous spa tub big enough...

Great location, attentive staff and very good restaurant (We usually avoid hotel restaurants but learned from the locals that this is one of the best in at the area). The restaurant focuses on local organic and free-range foods. We rented a king room. It was very quiet and clean. The whirlpool tub was a nice luxury. The historic building is...

This is the nicest renovated classic hotel I've even stayed in. And the staff and restaurant meet the same high standards. If you are within 50 miles it's worth driving here for a great nights stay. Every detail has been carefully planned.

Accompanied by our favorite traveling companions, we finally completed our visit to Decorah, Iowa, that was rained out last spring. Arriving in October, however, proved even more enjoyable, as fall colors enhanced the beauty of the locale and the gracious hotel in which we stayed. Hotel Winneshiek rooms are spacious and elegantly appointed, and the privacy and quiet atmospheres of...
