We came to Iowa to attend a football game for the first time. The downtown hotels near campus were upwards of $500 a night when there are home games and that just wasn't going to happen. We've had good experiences with the Radisson brand in the past and decided to give it a whirl. The room was clean and comfortable. We stayed on the 2nd floor (which technically is the main level). It was a little loud one night with our evening disrupted by a loud conversation outside our door at 1:30am (not the fault of the hotel). The hotel is right off the interstate but we heard no road sounds where we were situated. The location is definitely still convenient to campus. Believe it or not, we walked back from the stadium to the hotel and it was 2.7 miles. We were among traffic and other pedestrians the whole way believe it or not. Breakfast was a little strange. There is a room within the attached restaurant (which, by the way, is also attached to the Hampton Inn next door) where they serve a free breakfast. It is a bit of a maze finding it the first time. I was a little surprised because most hotels with restaurants do not host free breakfasts - they make you go to the restaurant and pay for it. I loved their small chocolate muffins. Finally a shout out to the staff who checked us in - extremely friendly and helpful. I hate going to a hotel and having to deal with staff who act like the last thing they want to do is be working. That was not the case here.

This was a very nice property. The room was clean and spacious. There is a good restaurant accessible from the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were fabulous! I'd love to have a couple of them for my own bed! Would definitely stay at this location again.

I will admit for the insanely low price, this place os worth it. You pay a Motel 6 price but get something more like a Comfort Inn or Hampton Inn. Yes, some parts are dated but the rooms, beds, decor arent bad. For instance, the outlets are plentiful and modern like most newer hotels which os great for charging all your mobile devices. I must admit the breakfast was not very good. But this hotel has an onsite restaurant which typically means no free breakfast. There was ham (not very much of it because it was empty) eggs (nearly empty), biscuits, soupy gravy, waffles, oatmeal, cereal and so on.

The hotel reception was not very friendly, the breakfast was meager and they do not cater to food allergies. Breakfast starts at 6.30 through 9.30am so if you have an early flight you won’t get any. I liked the courtyard by Radisson near airport more friendly for travelers flying in and out with 4.00 am breakfast and very friendly staff. There are a lot of hotels very close, so next time I have to visit Iowa city I will pick a Marriott.
