The room was only about $78 dollars. We stayed in the new addition. The walls are very thin so you will hear your neighbors if theyre talking or watching tv. theres also blinds on the door and a very bright light right in front of the door so the room was very birght even with the lights off. The wifi didnt work. The mattress was cheap and my feet were hanging off and im only 5'10". All these factors made it hard to sleep. The room and bathroom were clean and didnt smell bad. I wouldnt stay here again but the owner was very nice and responded to my phone calls and there was always a staff member there for questions. I only asked the room for one night but was charged for two so im waiting to make sure they fix it. I wouldnt really recommend this place unless youre on a tight budget.

I stay at the Moon-Lite once a year, and agree with the person who said it's a good, cheap place to stay. I love those old L-shaped motels, and don't expect them to be up to Holiday Inn standards. I'll be staying there again in a few weeks, and the atmosphere at the Moon-Lite is part of what I look forward to on this trip.

This is a clen comfortable place to stay in a small town. We got there late and the on-site manager was very helpful. The place was booked up for the weekend or would have stayed longer. I would definitely stay again and plan to.

A nice clean place to stay thats safe, quiet, and at 36 bucks a night has wireless internet, a fridge, a microwave, and wonderful personalized service from the manager and staff...really what is there to complain about ? That guy that went on and on about how bad it is and gave it a one star...please are you kidding me? What a spoiled brat....I live pretty far from here, however work nearby and have stayed at this motel at least twice a week for the past three months and its been a wonderful experience. The first guy that gave it a one and complained about it being a dump must be one spoiled idiot that has a butler and has been given everything he has ever wanted since birth. Yes, it is an older establishment however personally I think it gives it character, the rooms are always clean and do not smell like that one guy stated...he must be smelling his own feet or breath.

I am a professional and have enjoyed staying here. I sleep like a rock there, the beds are comfortable, and its so quiet. The people that run this small place are wonderful, and if you need anything they are on it. I usually stay in room 8 with a microwave, one night I had to take a different room and found it didnt have a microwave. I mentioned something and by the time I went to the dollar store and mcdonalds, I came back and they had already put in a microwave for me and I wasnt even complaining...lol. At 36 a night, i think this place is a bargain and I look forward to staying here twice a week for the continued future.

The place is small (owner came out in the middle of the night to unlock office to rent me the room), and is definitely reminiscent of the past. The room was very comfortable. New air conditioner, wall to wall carpet, in -room refrigerator, and amazingly comfortable bed. Bathroom in my unity was full sized with old-world tile floor and ceramic walls and had a shower head extension. My car was not six floors down across from some other wing--it was parked six feet from my door, next to a recessed porch with park benches. The motel is about a one minute walk from a new McDonalds and a large convenience store. I was glad to find the place, and if I need to be in Versailles Indiana again, (which is likely) I will stay there again.

This is a tough review to write. We knew we were taking a risk by staying at this place, but there were many surprises -- some good; some not so good. We had family business to conduct in Osgood, and you either stay here or 20 miles away. We love the B&B in Osgood, but wanted to give the Moon-Lite a shot since we don't always want the "guest in somebody else's house" experience.

First of all, according to our connections in the area, there are new owners since the previous reviews. Room rates have gone from $36 to $45 (including tax). However, we were offered one of the "newly refurbished" rooms with a queen bed for $54 (including tax), so we took it.

The new owners are at least as friendly and conscientious as the comments from others indicate for the previous owners. They also obviously work very hard. I really liked these folks, so my criticisms are hard to levy, but hopefully will help them continue the work they have started.

THE GOOD:
The "newly refurbished" room had some obvious improvements. Fresh paint on the walls; new carpet and I think they even must have replaced the acoustic ceiling tiles because there were no leak stains like you normally find with that type of ceiling tile. The bed linens were of pretty high quality, very clean and fresh smelling. The towels were also very clean and fresh and of good quality. The bathroom had vinyl flooring instead of tile (which is okay -- flooring looked pretty new). I think the shower walls had new covering too -- again not tile but some sort of stainless steel. It looked pretty grim until I got inside the shower, and saw it was obviously clean and really not as unattractive as it looked from an angle outside the shower. The room was very clean and no musty smell at all. There is an old-timey wall heater in the bathroom that looks ancient, but it can pump out some heat quickly. They even had four nice pieces of wall art hanging in the room in pretty frames. I think they must have taken some time to find these pictures. Also, they've added free wifi.

THE BAD:
The room is very small and also weirdly shaped (and not in a way that helps with space). The bathroom is especially small (but your knees do not nearly hit the sink as one reviewer said). I've been in larger showers on a cruise ship though -- very uncomfortable and dark inside shower. Sink is very small and it is impossible to dry off after a shower in the bathroom. (It's difficult to wash your feet in the shower stall since your knees hit the shower wall if you bend much at all.) The shower water temperature is difficult to control (goes from lukewarm to scalding in about a milimeter). The caulking job in the shower was really bad and unattractive.

The bathroom really is the biggest problem, but it is only about size not cleanliness. The bed was basically comfortable, but it was a full-size bed, not queen as promised, and that was uncomfortable. All of the furniture in the room (except the bed) is old, cheap, flimsy and basically useless. There is no real closet either, but a bar from which to hang clothes.

No toiletries at all are provided and there is no ice machine. The owners change towels and empty trash daily, but no real daily cleaning service or making of bed. We were there three (3) nights, so I imagine if you are there longer, you would get an occasional full clean. Otherwise, there is no way they could keep the place as clean as they do.

The new paint job in the room doesn't cover cracks in the wall. The room heat is very difficult to control and the room had a constant draft from under the door (there is a screen door that doesn't latch). The overhead fluorescent light is quite harsh and the lamp fixtures are old and dated and not very bright. (I think they would have been better off replacing the lights rather than buying the wall art, but that is their business.)

Work continues on the place which also created a small inconvenience. When we arrived all the outside lights were out because of electrical work being done. There is some sort of curb (covered in black tar) that is quite a tripping hazard even in daylight, and we really couldn't see it at night.

OVERALL:
The new owners are trying hard and are very helpful and responded to our requests for directions and use of a tool we needed to borrow. This place is so old, it must be difficult to keep clean, and I have to say that the place is clean. Some of the old grout is stained, but I can promise that they place is clean. We never had any kind of "ick" feeling, and the neighborhood seems safe too. I'm betting the owners did a lot of the refurbishing themselves. For $54, it is about half the cost of any hotel 20 miles away, so travelers simply have to weigh their options.

The best thing about this place was the Moonlite sign. Room was tiny, bathroon even tinier. Me knees had to fit under the sink to use the toilet! We were booked for two nights but stayed only one! The door to the room was a fight to unlock. We are not very picky, but this was too much for even us. Everything was right out of the 1950's...shades of Psycho!

I stayed here not to long ago on my way to Cincinatti and I have to say this place was a complete surprise. With a price tag of about $55 dollars, youde think you're going to get a run down budget motel with holes in the wall, crappy TV and horrible front desk service. Not the case, the rooms are clean with comfortable bedding and despite this hotels age is very well kept. Everything works in the rooms, the showers are hot, the A/C is cold. Outside the owners have a grill which guests staying for extended periods can use, a gathering place for people to mingle outside and eat and even a place for cornhole games if you're into that sort of thing. Mind you, this is straight forward budget lodging. You wont get things like flat screen TV's, in room coffee makers or anything like that. But for 50 dollars? An amazing value.

We stayed last weekend at this establishment. We were unsure of what we would find when we arrived due the remote the location, and the very reasonable price being charged. How pleasantly surprised we were to find friendly staff and very clean lodging. Our room #5 had updated furnishings and a full refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was not updated but I thought keeping the old pink tile was kind of charming. We will definitely stay there again if we find ourselves in that neck of the woods.
