If you want to travel individually - just stay at Jan Kok Lodges: a really quiet and green place in the countryside and very close to wonderful bays and beaches. The owners are very friendly and even rent cars for reasonable prices :-)

We stayed here for 10 days and from the beginning till the end our holiday here was perfect. Frederieke and Jeroen are the best hosts. Our apartment was wonderful, clean and we did not miss a thing during our stay. But also the whole area with the palmtrees, flowers and the pool was so beautiful. There is no way to leave this place not fully relaxed! I recommend to follow them on Instagram for your daily dose of island vibes and their lodges! We will come back for sure!

We stayed in the Outdoor Living Studio. While it was very small, it was clean and had everything we needed. We needed to use the AC because there was not as much breeze as in other apartments, but it worked well and kept us comfortable, and the cost was very reasonable. The landscaping is gorgeous - there are plants, flowers, and birds everywhere you look! We loved sipping coffee on our covered patio in the morning while enjoying all of the wildlife. Frederieke was kind and accommodating. She made sure we had everything we needed, and offered some great recommendations of beaches and restaurants on the island. You definitely need a car to get around the island as there are not many things within walking distance of the lodges, but the rental car through Jan Kok was perfect. If we ever return to Curacao we will definitely be staying here again!

Jan Kok Lodge was a great place for a budget accommodation. My husband and I went to Curacao for a quick and inexpensive dive trip and were very happy with the choice. The lodge is in the middle of no where, but is also 30 minutes to Willemstad and < 20 minutes to some of the best beaches on the island. If we stayed in Willemstad we would have been almost an hour to the best beaches so this was really great for us and the purpose of our trip. We stayed in the outdoor studio and used the outdoor kitchen a couple of times. Everything is really nice and clean and updated. Our one complaint was the bed in our room which was 2 mattresses pushed together. It was a little hard and would have been better if it was one mattress. Other than that, we had a great time!

My family (myself, wife, two kids - age 12 and 14) stayed here for nine days in late December 2018. Our booking was originally made via Expedia. However, when we needed to add a couple of nights to arrive earlier, Expedia was pretty much useless in making what should have been an easy change. The wonderful owner, Frederieke, was so nice and helpful and eventually we just made the change between ourselves and I paid her in cash upon arrival for the extra nights. I also arranged for a rental car through Frederieke and the car was waiting for us at the Lodge upon arrival. The rental car had to paid for in cash as well, with a cash deposit (which was returned upon our departure). Frederieke also provided airport transfer for us upon arrival. The Lodge is located about 15 minutes from the airport. It is not well signed but Google maps could find it. It is located off a secondary road up on a hillside among some family homes. Note - there is NOWHERE to walk to really. You really need a rental car. Google Maps found every site we looked for without any problem. A few traffic circles, however, were not in the database and occasionally a left turn was really the third exit of a traffic circle (not a big deal). The units are arranged in a row-house style, but with sufficient privacy for each unit. The cement walls meant no sounds could be heard from other units. We stayed in the two-bedroom Iguana-view apartment. There were air conditioning units (that worked well) in each bedroom. There was a large fan for the kitchen/sitting area. A large patio with eating table was located outside the sliding patio doors (with padlock for security). It was very breezy and pleasant to sit outside and we ate all our meals outside. A safe was located under the sink to store any valuables. Air conditioning incurred an extra charge, which for our stay amount to about $25 total for both units (which were used only when we slept). Wifi was EXCELLENT! There were three different access points that I could see that you could access. I would sometimes change access points depending on which had the strongest signal. Streaming video (Facetime, Netflix, Prime) was no problem. So Facebook and Instagram were fine too. :) There was a nice pool (highly chlorinated) with several comfortable padded loungers located around it. Some shade was provided by palm trees. A covered area with couches was also by the pool. The pool and area had lights for night swimming. A single roll of toilet paper and a small bottle of dish soap was provided, but not paper towels or hand soap. You will need to purchase these items yourself - in addition to any food you'll need. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and dishes. A toaster, panini press, and electric kettle were also provided. Several modest supermarkets could be found within 10 minutes drive (one in Tera Cora) and another two or three on Weg Naar Westpunt (the main road). A large North American style supermarket (Centrum) was about 15-20 minutes drive. The closest gas station was about 10 minutes away in Tera Cora. Note: you pay for gas first at the window, fill the car, then get any refund money back at the window. Frederieke and her family live on the premises and was available in person or through texts. She was very friendly and accommodating even allowing us to store our bags in her home office after our check-out but before our late afternoon departure. As our base for exploring the island, were drove from one end to the other. In the east end, the ostrich farm was about 40 minutes away. To the west, Cristoffel Park and Shete Boka in the west were about 25 minutes away. Nearby the Lodge: Flamingo area Food: Grote Berg Patat (great fried snacks!), Daniel restaurant (we enjoyed an excellent breakfast and dinner), Ete Cafe de Buurvrouw (delicious dinner on our first night) Beaches: Cas Abao, Playa Porta Marie, and Coraal/Karakter (stunning pool resort with beach access and platform for jumping in the ocean) We had a wonderful stay at the Lodge and it was a good spot to explore the entire island. Frederieke could not have been more friendly or helpful - a truly wonderful host.
