This hotel was the perfect decision to rest in family and for our fortune, the destination we reward with full moon and red moon eclipse at the time. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We rest, enjoy the beach and enjoy the eclipse of the moon until dawn. I loved the concept.

We absolutely loved our time at El Matuy. The idea of shutting off for a few days was what drew us to the place and it did not disappoint. It is such a calm and beautiful spot where the only sounds you hear are the crashing of waves, the singing of birds, and the occasional

Loved the place. We had the whole beach to ourselves. There is no light but you don't need it. Went there with my girlfriend and we had the time of our lives. Staff is good. Maybe they need to check you out more often and ask what do you need but that's all.

El Matuy truly is PARADISE!! Stayed here for several nights in June with my 5 year old and left feeling invigorated and relaxed (which is saying a lot, since I was traveling with an energetic 5 year old). This is the perfect place to unplug and unwind, thanks to sounds of the

El matuy is an excellent ecolodge located 1.5 hours by car from the airport at Santa Marta, Colombia. It's technically in the region known as La Guajira, but the climate and vegetation is dense, verdant and tropical, unlike the drier desert conditions of central and northern La

Hi, No, unfortunately there is no scuba in Palomino or around the region. The closest place would be Taganga, one hour away from Palomino and 15 minutes away from Santa Marta. Best, Simon

Hi Melisadc, There are many things to do around El Matuy. An absolute favorite is to float down the Palomino river on an inner tube. You walk through the forrest for approximately 30 minutes and then float down for almost two hours. It's very relaxing and a great way to sunbathe! You can also visit Quebrada Valencia (25 minutes by bus going to Santa Marta) or Parque Tayrona (35 minutes by bus going to Santa Marta) to hike and spend the day at the waterfall. Another option is to go to the Flamingos National Park (45 minutes by bus going to Riohacha) to watch the birds while you are on a small boat. The flamingos are migratory and so the number of birds you get to see depends on when you go. You can easily go to the park and then spend some time in Rioacha and check out the city—it's a good place to shop for handcrafts. Those are the three main and closets activities to El Matuy but there are more. We will be happy to give you further advice if you need it! Best, Simon
