Nice downtown location taking up a whole city block, the front of the property sits beside the Art Museum and on the river which is artfully lit at night. The back of the hotel opens to an enclosed courtyard which houses their pool, Baker restaurant/bar, a Starbucks, a bank and then out to the lively Michigan Ave downtown stretch that is also lit at night and includes the theater. The lobby and staff were very nice, check in was a breeze and the warm chocolate chip walnut cookies were a welcome treat. Parking was easy to use and very convenient. We asked for a high floor and we had one on the 9th floor near the elevator looking out over the river. Oddly the heat was just pouring into the hallways at full blast the whole time we were there. It had to be 85°, very uncomfortable, so we would run from the elevator to our room. We said something to two separate front desk employees but evidently it’s hard to turn off a heater or engineering went home for the day. The room was just adequate. I found the mattress way too firm for my achey joints. The recently remodeled bathroom was very small, no way I could get in there if my wife was using it. But the shaving mirror is a plus. The room shows some sign of age with rust, cracks and dark water marks on the room’s ceiling. The room could be really nice with a little TLC, and I commend Hilton for their presence downtown in these challenging times, but that being said, take this as a reminder of what you will be getting during your stay. But for the price we paid it was worth it.…
A very comfortable, quiet, clean hotel. Our room was standard hotel room, but clean and comfortable with a nice view overlooking the river. Apparently a popular venue for weddings - there were four the weekend we were there, one of which we were attending. Parking is easy and convenient in a garage adjacent and connected to the hotel. There is a nightly charge unless the parking is part of a wedding package. There is a skyway that connects the hotel with the Art Museum and the Century Center which are along the river, on the other side of the main road.
The hotel is decent but over priced. Restaurant food in the hotel leaves a lot to be desired. I cant say that I would recommend it but it is nice if you are going to the Morris because of the location.
I Recommend this hotel breakfast was great and I loved the fitness center!!! stay was awesome they also have a very helpful supervisor named Ty and kayley I look forward to seeing them again on our next trip!!!!!!
I’ve stayed here several times in the past without issues. However, this hotel is now very shabby & is not being kept up. The first room that I was given was so dirty that I returned immediately to reception & requested a change. I was then assured that the next room I was given had just been double-checked by housekeeping. However, dust was so thick on the carpet edges that it appeared discolored. There were stains on furnishings including the bedside lampshade & chair, and the draperies were torn in several places. I could write my name in the dust everywhere. The ice maker on the floor was inoperative & the hotel pool was out of service. In addition, hallway to the rooms had a terrible odor which I was informed was due to a possible sewer problem. Wallpaper was pealing or stained. The hotel gave me a credit for the restaurant due to the inconvenience of dragging my bags from the garage to the lobby & then through 2 room changes. However, the restaurant was out of so many items (fruit, wheat bread) that I dined outside of the hotel. On a positive note, hotel staff was very nice and as accommodating as possible. But I definitely will look for alternative accommodations in the future.…
The Pool was closed, the elevators were not working, the tub slowly drained in the bathroom, and breakfast was not worth what they charged. The milk was not good to serve and when advised, we were still charged $8.00 for cereal and milk only.
I experienced the dirtiest 2 rooms I ever had to spend a night in. Walls were covered with dust, bathrooms had mold the exhaust fan covered with dust. Shower curtain mildew. Coffee pods from the previous occupant were left in the coffee machine. Garbage bags were just hanging on the cans and it looked like the carpet had not been cleaned in years.
We stayed at this hotel as a part of the wedding room block that we got. Here is the good, the hotel is right in the heart of the downtown scene of South Bend and there are lots of good restaurants to check out as well as other things to do. The gym was clean and was a great size with lots of equipment to choose from. Also, Starbucks right in the same buildings is a great perk too! The staff were very friendly and did there best to provide a good experience. Here is the bad news, the rooms need a full refresh. The shower head was noisy when running and the tub drained extremely slow. The beds were very undersized. Parts of the room were not closely cleaned if at all especially in the bathroom. The make up mirror had some gunk on it, there was dust and gunk in the corners of the floor. The trash bins were not bagged but had bags in them for us to do it ourselves. The remote had gunk and crust on it. The door to our room at times would get stuck shut and wouldn't open despite our key working and flashing green. Lastly, the room was dark and very old school honestly. I know that is kind of the Doubletree feel, but Hilton needs to refresh this brand like it has it's others.…
Visited for family birthdays and a Notre Dame game. We picked what we thought would be a nice hotel. Double Tree. It was over $500 a night. Even if it would have been $100, it would not have been worth it.
The hotel was really nice and everyone very friendly. Lori who was in charge of breakfast was so nice and friendly, she did everything to make my food and drinks were great. I would definitely stay here again.
