This lovely Victorian 25 room mansion was built for entertaining. Guests may choose from one of nine large and beautifully decorated guest rooms, some with fireplaces, private balcony, claw foot tubs, marble sinks or Jacuzzi. Lovely landscaped one acre estate with lawn swings, gardens, gazebo and fountain. The Bavarian style Carriage House is an archetectural gem, totally unique to the area and has been newly renovated into a two bedroom, two bath suite.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Oliver Inn. The room was beautiful, so very clean, and perfect in every way. The breakfast was was delicious plus Alice prepared a special dairy and gluten free breakfast to accomodate my needs. She also prepared her organic coffee in the coffee pot so my husband could have coffee to go when we left at 6:00 am on our second night's stay.

This is among the best B & B's anywhere, A thoughtfully restored three-storied 1890's mansion near downtown and a short walk to the Studebaker and History Museum. Located in a neighborhood of fine stately homes, some like the Copshaholm and the Kizer House are open for tours to the public. Current owners of the Inn have been in business for 15 years and know how to please their loyal clients. Each room is expertly appointed true to the turn-of-the century period but fully equipped with the latest modern conveniences. The comfort of the large dining room, living room, study and library invite guests to relax in refined early 20th C. ambience. Breakfasts are large affairs and you will be pampered with fresh fruit, juices, fine pastries, breakfast meats, eggs, and beverages. The pantry is always open for snacks and drinks throughout the day. Besides the main house they have a separate carriage house with an upstairs chauffeur's apartment that will accommodate a family or large group. Plenty of off street parking, the house is surrounded by beautifully cared for gardens to wander about plus seating under shady trees. There is also a covered porch with table and chairs for relaxing outside. Tasteful artwork and decorations adorn the entire inn with a good number of period photos of the Oliver Family. The Inn is within walking distance of fine restaurants, pubs and casual dining in the historic downtown district and is next door to the 1880's Studebaker palace, now restaurant and bar, Tippecanoe Place. When in South Bend, stay here at The Oliver Inn.

It has been a while since I stayed at a traditional bed breakfast. My stay at the Oliver Inn reminded me how nice it could be. We recently stayed here as a good stopping spot on a long journey, and found the Inn to be very spacious with well kept grounds quiet comfortable large rooms with pleasant hosts. We truly enjoyed breakfast on the porch and were impressed by the quality of the meal. Alice and Tom have made every effort to add the little extras that we as consumers have forgotten are what define great hosts. Wether this is the mints in the room the fresh cookies the well stocked pantry umbrellas by the door or just the friendly smiles, it ultimately brought our family joy to stay here.

Maybe the best B&B at which I have ever stayed. The inn keepers , Tom and Alice), are wonderful hosts. There is no formal check-in, I was just shown to my room.
I was in the Tippecanoe Room, which had a bedroom with queen size bed. The bedroom had an electric fireplace. It also had a white noise machine which was almost superfluous as the room is quiet and the neighborhood not terribly busy.
There was also a room with the sink and a makeup table. The bathroom had a jetted two person tub, a heated towel rack, and bathrobes.

The morning breakfast was plentiful and included fresh, homemade baked goods,

All in all, an incredible place to stay. Highly recommended.

Tom and Alice were great hosts. Very clean and comfortable rooms with nice linen and towels. The house is spacious with cozy living room and sitting areas to relax, read or just hang out which makes it feel ill Like home. The property was nicely kept too with outdoor swings and benches. Alice’s breakfasts are delicious. Everything including the pastries are homemade and delicious. She was very accommodating with my gluten sensitivity and made special dishes for me. Thanks Tom and Alice, we’ll be back again!

We were bringing my son and daughter-in-law to South Bend to meet with extended family and the carriage house at the Oliver Inn seemed like a good fit. As it turns out it was perfect. Comfortable beds and bedrooms, a well stocked kitchen, a comfortable living room where my son could watch NBA finals, and two bathrooms. This home was in the Oliver family and tell the late 1980s and it’s got some funky details, like an antique intercom system.

The breakfasts were amazing - fresh fruit, candle light, and homemade breads and entrees. Alice and Tom couldn’t have been more hospitable and welcoming. When I asked her for suggestions about where to cater a family dinner, she offered to do it for me and I took her up on it. Boy was I glad! Beef tenderloin, roasted potatoes, baked pasta, grilled chicken and an enormous salad.

Everyone was delighted and wanted to know the secret of this delicious food.

We will definitely come back when we come into town!

What a beautiful BNB. We have stayed in a BNB on our Anniversary for the last 25 years. This was absolutely wonderful from the welcome to the goodbye. Room was true to the time period of the home with little touches like chocolates on the bed, which had such soft sheets to the extras to enjoy the Jacuzzi tub. Breakfast was delicious and the conversation with Tom and Alice so enjoyable. We were scheduled to go to Switzerland for our Anniversary this year, but COVID put that on hold, this was a lovely alternative. Great for walking to many restaurants and the Studebaker Museum-which we enjoyed and touring Notre Dame Campus.

Our stay exceeded our expectations by a lot! The entire place is so clean and fresh smelling, and the owners are so warm and friendly that we felt as if we have known them forever. Alice's breakfasts were phenomenal, and eating on beautiful china by candlelight was an experience. The sheets were so soft that we purchased two sets and I only wish I would have asked where we could purchase the soap. Overall it was a wonderful and relaxing experience that we will definitely do again.

My stay at the Inn was my last stop on a 10 day road trip and I intentionally chose it for it’s charm and welcoming comfort, and it did not disappoint. The room was like walking back in time, but with the luxuries of modern convenience. The entire house and grounds invited relaxation and Alice and Tom were the perfect hosts. Taking Alice’s recommendation for dinner at the Tippecanoe was a highlight of my stay, with dinner being exceptional, and a self guided tour of the mansion with a Brandy in hand, something I will fondly remember always. Alice made a delicious breakfast and packed my leftovers for my trip home. I hope to come back someday 🥰

Alice and Tom graciously welcomed us into their grand old home, lovingly preserved and tastefully decorated to reflect the time period of this elegant home. Alice prepared delicious breakfasts all 3 morning that we were there. The bedroom was convenient and the bed was very comfortable. Tom keeps the yard and gardens meticulously groomed. They're beautiful and very inviting to sit, relax and enjoy. This B&B is close to the Studebaker & History Museum and near several good dining establishments.
