The accommodations are pretty ordinary, with hard beds and a plugged up bathroom sink. The lobby was very small. One of the employees was complaining loudly about his laptop being stolen when he left it briefly. Too costly for what you get.
The (handicap accessible) room that my husband & I stayed in was a quiet, very clean, well-appointed & maintained stay in Shipshewana. The beds were very comfortable & the shower was wonderful — great water pressure❣️ My husband & I would stay again.
During a recent stay my I treated my in-laws too for their anniversary there was a mix up on the chocolate covered strawberries I ordered for them and they did not receive them. I reached out to the hotel to see what could be done in the late afternoon. Early that evening Paul, the interm general Manger, called me back during his off hours and worked to ensure I was refunded. The itemized email showing the credit did not go through due to a system error so Paul took the extra step of getting a pic, the following morning, of the itemized bill and texting it to me! Thanks Paul for the follow up and customer service that went above and beyond!
Have seen multiple changes in the last few months. Staff presents in a more professional manner inspired, no doubt, by Paul, the interim manager. Rooms are clean, heat/AC are easy to control. Noise seems to be at a minimum, especially at night. Delicious breakfasts!
My sister-in-law and I spent the weekend at Shipshewana and enjoyed staying at the Van Buren Hotel. It was a great location for shopping and restaurants. The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable.
We stayed overnight and totally enjoyed our stay, Paul the Manager was very accommodating, he assisted in securing a great room for us ,my friend had special needs. Sumer, the reservation person,, was very helpful, friendly and she gave us several suggestions about places to visit.,while we were in Shipshewana. The swimming pool was very refreshing, so clean, perfect temperature, it was hard to leave. The breakfast was delicious, buffet. A wonderful selection, egg, waffle, sausage, hot cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and goof coffee and juice and milk. Room was spacious clean, air conditioner, coffee maker. Lovrd our stay, cannot wait to return with my friends and family. Thsnk you Paul and your great team for making our visit a memorable one. Hope to see you and your team again soon. Susan Regan…
The staff at Van Buren Hotel were very friendly, helpful and professional. Summer, at the front office, was particularly helpful. We made several requests and she went out of her way to make sure they were granted. Ashley also was a big help. Manager, Paul, was very welcoming and always greeted us with a smile and took time to talk to us. The room was very clean and comfortable and location was super, just a few minutes away from the downtown area. The complimentary breakfast was also very good, complete with waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and other food to choose from. I will definitely be staying here again. The room rates were definitely a plus.
Very nice hotel, excellent service and friendly staff. We had a problem printing out some theater tickets and Summer, at the front desk, spent time with us trying to figure out how we could print them since we couldn't connect to their printer. She came up with a solution and it worked. She didn't have to spend so much time with us, but she did, and we very much appreciated it! Ashley also had a hand in helping us! Thank you so much. Oh, and a shout out to Paul for making us feel welcomed.
Summer, at the front desk, went out of her way to be very helpful thoughout our stay with helping us with our tickets to the Blue Gate Theater and making sure we had what we needed. She was very friendly with a great personality. The hotel and rooms were very clean and spacious. And the hallways were clean and fresh. Thank you for a great 3 day getaway. Ashley and Paul were very helpful with a great personality. To me, front desk personality is very important.
I usually write reviews on Google but the Manager (Paul) was very helpful and kind in getting us settled. My husband is disabled and he helped us to our room with our luggage. Summer the other young lady at the desk was helpful and friendly as well and had good recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area. The breakfast was nice and plenty of choices.
