The Farmstead Inn garners praise for its homey atmosphere, with guests enjoying festive decorations and cozy fireplaces. The hotel's prime location in Shipshewana is a hit among travelers, putting them close to local markets and attractions.
Accommodations are commended for their cleanliness and spaciousness, but some guests suggest a need for more modern amenities. While the onsite amenities, including pools and sports courts, are often celebrated, opinions on value vary, with some guests finding the breakfast lacking despite the reasonable cost.

Great hotel - second time here. Very large king room at far end of the hotel - super quiet. Two Lazyboy chairs in the room to visit or watch TV. Nice bathroom with two rooms - one has toilet and a sink, the other has another sink. Two people can get ready at the same time. Breakfast is available in a large breakfast room at the far end of the building. Large room, plenty of options in a buffet style set up. Will certainly stay here again.

We have a habit of staying at chain hotels, and during Covid, more so, figuring there are more uniform cleaning measures. However, after reading other reviews for the Farmstead Inn, and noting it's location, I felt this was worth checking out. Very glad we did! The place is big, and has two buildings connected by a barn building where you will have breakfast. Rooms are roomy, hallsways are large, and I've never seen so many rolling carts to use to bring your luggage in and out. Very clean. The well laid out rooms offer not only a bathroom but a sink outside the bathroom. The rooms have a nice view. Furnishings were nice. It's located directly across the street from the auction, so if you want to attend that early, as you should, this is the place to stay as it offers an easy walk. Great staff. Beds comfortable. Nice room darkening shades. Breakfast was the first hot breakfast we had since Covid, offering eggs, sausages, biscuits, cereal, pancakes, oatmeal, coffee and juice. It all was fine, the biscuits were particularly good. They give you breakfast tickets when you check in. One thing to note about the area - while check in was Covid compliant, and there are barriers in the food buffet area where staff serve, we did not see many people staying wearing masks. Amish in the area do not wear masks. Not a lot of masks at the auction either. We took our own precautions and stayed away from everyone. As for the Inn, we most definitely stay here again when in the area.

Thank you so much for these kind words, our staff have always prided themselves in keeping our hotel clean and knowing that is being noticed by guests is a great complement, so again, thank you. Glad you enjoyed your visit and we would love to welcome you back on your next visit.

Great place to stay! Rooms are extremely comfortable, well sound proofed with many extras included. like coffee maker, microwave, iron, fridge, two recliners and comfortable beds. Many amenities such as a large pool, hot tub, gym, rec room, many sitting areas, and hot continental breakfast. The staff is very nice. I had the best time here and slept well! First time I slept through the night at a hotel and that is saying a lot! Highly recommend!

Their rooms are nice. Fairly satisfied with beds, etc. What really surprised us was the breakfast. We do understand Covid 19 has prompted places to revisit some processes; however, I would say the "7.00" breakfast was an embarrassment. Wasn't permitted to eat unless we had a ticket. Incredibly small choice of foods: eggs scrambled, limp bacon one day, horrid rubbery ham the next. What we did get was lukewarm and skimpy. No fruit or pastries. There were "biscuits", but they were tiny and cut from a pan like cornbread. Loads of boxed unhealthy cereals. I would have recommended they reduce the price of their rooms if they continue to offer breakfast services the way they do.

Our room was very noisy! The room was not arranged to watch TV from anywhere except the bed. The recliner was directly under the TV and the sofa was across the room but did not have a view of the TV without moving the sofa. My husband and I both needed an outlet next to the bed for medical devices and there wasn't an outlet available on the one side of the bed without moving the clock radio across the room. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of seating. The staff was ok but not very friendly when we checked in/out.
If you have kids this would be an OK place since they have a nice pool, swingset and small indoor play area. The location is convenient to the Flea Market so that would be a plus but we stayed in February so the location was not important this time. We might stay here if we had our grandchildren with us but wouldn't stay if it was just my husband and me.

Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The free breakfast buffet was delicious and much more than a continental breakfast. Every customer was required to wear plastic gloves. We were going to the flea market and auction across the street so it was very handy.

We stayed at a brand new hotel with breakfast for way less in Fort Wayne on our way to Shipshewana. We paid $140 for no breakfast and a room that all 3 blinds on the windows kept falling down. The room over all was clean

+1
Room was clean. Pool and hot tub was great and there were towels in the pool area. Also a kiddie pool.
Room for breakfast is large with many tables and can be used when breakfast is over to talk or play games. Breakfast was sausage, turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, cereal,bread,muffins,yogurt,3 waffle machines, coffee and milk/juice.
They have plastic gloves for you to put on due to covid, great idea.

We had a great time. We will be returning just because they had a 12 foot wide kiddie pool with 1 foot of water for our kiddos! Excellent staff! The room was clean. The only downside was the hard beds. So I recommend bringing a foam mattress topper or extra pillows!
