This was our first trip to Holiday World and after doing some research we decided to book a cabin at Lake Rudolph. We arrived and had to wait in-line for a bit as there was a bunch of folks ahead of us checking in (via booth outside to check-in). We got our key and a map and some basic info. First, if you have never been here before, it is a huge property and we got lost at first and finally made our way to the cabin. It is a beautiful property and the cabin was quite nice. There is a parking spot right in-front of each cabin, which is convenient. There is a huge deck in the Christmas Cabin which is really nice, especially at night or early in the AM enjoying your coffee. There is a full kitchen, which is very nice and convenient. There were a few issues with the cabin: (1) There was no working WiFi, which was a major bummer; (2) The TV in the main bedroom did not work or connect to anything; (3) The TV upstairs in the one loft area was cracked (screen). Also, of note and this is on me as I forgot the fact that they do NOT provide any bedding or towels, so we had to find some at a local store. Also, Santa Claus, IN is a very small town with not much as far as stores (no target, no walmart) but there is a decent small supermarket which has a fair variety of stuff. It is about 500 yards from Holiday World, so we just drove over in the AM and back in the PM. It's quite busy in the campground, lots of kids on bikes, scooters, etc..so be very careful when driving as many are not paying attention to their surroundings. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay and good accommodations and we would stay here again. I am just surprised that they don't go through the cabins to ensure stuff is all working, apparently prior residents had damaged the upstairs TV, stolen the wifi/cube and hence the source of our issues. Otherwise staff seemed friendly and they have lots of stull around the site for kids to do, stuff to eat, etc....

Although we didn’t stay here or do an activity, I wanted to share my experience. I collect pressed pennies for my Granddaughter when I travel. I saw they have the penny press for Santa, IN and was excited to have this special one to send. Unfortunately I was there in off hours and the GM with the key to the penny machine wasn’t there. It was my last day there and was disappointed to not get this penny. But the awesome staff offered to press a penny and mail it to her. With this kind of customer service, I’m sure the rest of their business would have the same pride in their work. Thank you to the staff for going above and beyond.

The electric tent sites here are just about as poor as you can get. No dedicated pad, and in a hilly area. There’s almost no where to put a 10x10 family tent on many of the tent sites. Then once you do get setup you’ll realize you are next to one of the roads that leads back to the cabin rentals. This means you’ll have cars (quiet) and a horde of golf carts racing by. (No literally, we saw three races in the course of an hour and a half). These carts are loud and usually have folks driving on them with loud music playing. Ok not too loud, but when you are in a tent 20 feet away, it’s plenty loud. This continues on past quiet hours (which are at 10) on to 1130 or so on our Saturday night stay. So yeah, sites are poor, poorly situated, and quiet hours aren’t at all enforced. But it’s not all bad. The bathrooms are close to the tents. They are relatively new and relatively clean all in one individual bathrooms with toilet, sink, toilet. They have a/c but have pretty poor overhead ventilation. Additionally, all of them were wet and dirty as there is no good floor drain in them. All in all, it’s pretty clear that tents are an afterthought here. If you’re in a tent just go somewhere else. You’ll be happier and odds are the company won’t notice you leave with the insane amounts of cabin rentals, golf cart rentals, and rv sites. They certainly won’t notice the noise you might have made with the horde of golf carts whizzing around.

It had been a few years since we stayed here and I read a lot of negative reviews about Sun Outdoors that took the campground over. We loved our 2 night stay here and couldn't have asked for a better stay or experience. Our cabin was fantastic, spacious and clean. Loved the environment and wow we watched the golf cart parade and it was awesome. I have never seen so many golf carts and they looked amazing. What a fun campground with tons to do and so many fun people staying here. Employees were super helpful and kind. Loved staying here for our trip to Holiday World and wouldn't stay anywhere else but here!!!

Many sites are nearly impossible for larger rigs. We arrived mid afternoon and at check in the girl drew on our map how to get to our site, completely the wrong way had to go around with people going every direction it was total chaos. Ants and flys where terrible. Pool and water park where nice and lifeguards on duty. Things where fairly clean. Two out of four dryers not working and people just left their clothes in long after they where finished. It’s a water park people could use a few more dryers!! And get use to all the golf carts with underage drivers running stop signs.

Unfortunately, we are still here. Only because we have grandkids and tickets for Holiday World tomorrow. The first day we overlooked the nasty dirty dishes and utensils in the cabinets and the filthy floor. Wiped all tables and countertops with Chlorox wipes and washed every dish and utensil before using. Now our second day of three , we get back to the cabin after 4PM and find roaches on the countertop. I have called and left a message. Let's see if they call me back. The AC cold air return vent is nasty dirty and you can see that it probably has never been changed. The toilet leaks internally causing it to refill the tank every 10-15 minutes. This is our second year in a cabin. Last year was not much better, but thought we would give a pass. What a mistake. We have stayed here twice previously in an RV as well. That's a hit or miss as well. They are lucky to be the only game in town for those wishing to stay while visiting Holiday World. I would hope they would offer to compensate us for this mess. Cabin 248.

Gross gross gross. Not luxury. WAY overpriced. Not what we expected at all. Better off spending money on gear and a tent and back country. One star for golf cart and trees. People party too late. Been disappointed before and humbled before but not like this one. We won’t be back.

We have been staying at lake rudolph for over 20 years. Started out renting campers but have been renting a Christmas cabin for the last 10 years or more. The first year was fantastic, but has continued to get worse. Last year we had to wait over 3 hours past check in time to get our cabin and the cabin wasn't even close to clean. This year the whole cabin smelled like urine from a pee soaked mattress that we had to take outside and leave until we were leaving. The cabin was also filthy, we had to sweep and clean the cabin and the upstairs needed vacuuming. We found dirty socks on the floor and they didn't leave us enough bedding for the cabin (sheets and pillowcases). We were ignored when we told about the issues so we had to go to town and buy cleaning supplies and disinfectant to try and get rid of the urine smell. $1500 for 4 days and we will rent an air bnb next year, it will be cheaper and surely cleaner.

We are staying at what is suppose to be one of the “nicer” cabins on site. When we arrived everything was so dirty. The floors and surfaces weren’t clean and hadn’t been cleaned recently. The cabin had a bad odor and there was trash from the cleaning crew left on the deck with dirty gloves on the ground. We didn’t need perfection, but a clean place to stay with working equipment would’ve been nice especially for 1,500 for 4 nights. There was an old bottle of orange juice left right by the bed. The TV’s didn’t work, the microwave didn’t work and when we went to take a shower the shower handle fell completely off the shower onto the floor. We typically stay at the Santa Cottages at Santa Claus which are extremely nice, but had family staying at Lake Rudolph. I do not recommend staying at Lake Rudolph cabins. The price and quality do not match.

I have several complaints about this campground. To start with, upon making my reservation I was shown only one picture of two possible sites available. The picture I was shown was of a large site with a lot of room. I made a special request in the notes of reasons why we wanted to keep the site chosen including health issues..., but chose not to pay a lock in fee since we were booking close to the time of the trip, and since lock in fees are just another way this campground rips off it's customers. The campsite we were placed in was nothing like the pictured site! It was extremely crowded, hard for my husband who is an experienced driver to get into even with the help of other campers guiding him in, and absolutely no room for my grandchildren to play on the campsite without actually being in someone else's campsite. Thus the deceptive booking technique - show you a picture of one campsite a d then put you on a crappy one unless you are willing to shell out the extra money to hold that specific site, even though they label all the sites premium / delux ( I forget which) and charge way more than other campgrounds per night except those located beachfront... Additional complaints are about their activities. If this is a family campground and you are paying extra for that, then why aren't there more organized free activities and for various ages of children? I mean, I can provide my own coloring and sidewalk chalk to my grandkids. Shouldn't there be organized games or learning activities/ scavenger hunts...? It wouldn't take a genius to put that together. Also, the paid activities did not include any guidance by staff members; all they did was take your money and give you the materials. You were left to figure it out for yourself or learn from another camper who had done it before. No guidance, no rules, no supervision. Apparently the young staff has had little training or lacks initiative and are left to run things on their own ( I will explain that more a little later on). Next on my list is that The lifeguards allowed just about any kind of horseplay in the pool you could imagine, no matter how rough it got. There were some rather large adults and their older children wrestling pretty hard over a football right next to very young children. I had to move my grandchildren to the other side of the pool. They did not bother asking anyone to watch their language around children either, no matter how rough the language became. I ended up having to ask another camper to myself. Fortunately he took it well and later apologized to me. However, I should not have had to do so, and do not feel that I would have been safe if he had not taken it well - I doubt that there are any procedures in place for such an event. Additionally, the staff there needs to be trained about watching for signs of child abuse. Had what I I had witnessed gone on it would have needed to be reported, and I had the strong feeling that that would not have happened. My next complaints are the restrooms. First, the soap was so watered down you could not get it to lather at all and it left your hands feeling kind of greasy after rinsing. Next, Two of the three bathhouses I went into had doors with broken or removed locks on almost all of the toilet stalls. Really old toilet seats that needed replacing, some broken, and weren't very clean. The only one that seemed to be air conditioned was the one by the pool; which made you freeze when you entered it. Speaking of that restroom. It needs a more convenient access to the SPLASH Park. That is a long way for a young child or someone with disabilities to have to walk if they need a restroom. And, speaking of the SPLASH Park, you need to provide some tall seats with backs on them for the older population that brings their grandchildren, or those with health issues... near both sections of the park. Some free shade should also be available for that population. It could be as simple as some umbrellas near the chairs or golf umbrellas at request...maybe the chairs could have a place for them to slide into... charging $50 to have shade and a chair is ridiculous! Another complaint I have is that on the day we were to check out, my husband left the park early to pick up donuts for breakfast and was barely able to get his truck out of the exit lane because someone had parked one of the golf carts in the return area ( where the staff parks them) all the way up over the curb and halfway into the lane. He stopped at the window to make the staff member there aware of it, but she already was. She said someone parked it that way last night. My husband said there was no way a camper could fit by the way it was parked and yet it had been left there and she had not taken any action since she came on duty. It took him suggest I g that she call someone to move it so that people checking out could get by for something to get done. Additionally, there was no daytime phone number provided at check in for any questions, only an after hours help number. I almost forgot this one, on the day of the movie, they still didn't know which movie they were going to play; that makes it hard to plan your evening and shows lack of organization, supervision and planning.
