Having made advance booking for a family meal, I anticipated reasonable quality with slightly enhanced tariff. The menu looked good with variety and a children's option. Being charged £7.20 for two pints of lager shandy was not a promising start (even Edinburgh prices don't penalise customers for the purchase of a pint of lemonade). The 'yellow' Thai curry was awful... More

Such a friendly welcome, comfortable room, delicious food and great location. Will definitely be back. Nothing was too much bother and the other guests clearly felt equally at home. Breakfast was freshly prepared and individual cafetieres provided lovely fresh coffee.

Passing through on route to New Galloway after been walking at Glentrool Country park. Ready for light meal ,so stopped at what we thought was a nice place. Staff seemed to be occupied so had a brief wait which was fine. The waitress spoke and we asked about the "catch of the day" on the menu that we picked up... More

Cottage was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Staff were welcoming and accommodating. Dogs are made very welcome, no problem having them with you at dinner in the bar area. Understandable not permitted in the restaurant however plenty of tables in the bar mean this wasn't an issue

This place should decide whether they want to be an inn or a restaurant because clearly they aren't doing both! We arrived at around 6 pm, which should not have been a surprise because we had sent them more than one email about that fact. No one was in the "inn" part (which had that lovely wet dog smell one... As big fans of Tripadvisor, we find the site very useful both personally and professionally. We have learned lots from our guests feedback and made many changes as a result. Unfortunately, there will always be some people who abuse it and are far from honest in their reviews. So much of what you have written has been at best exaggerated... More

The pub offered comfortable and affordable accommodation, but the real gem is the food. Great menu focusing on local ingredients and cooked well and well priced. Staff are friendly and welcoming. After a long day it was just what the doctor ordered.

We visited 'The House' with a group of friends and had a lovely evening. The food and service was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meals and it was good value for money. We will certainly have this on our list of places to call again when in the area.
