Kanan Beach Resort - Kerala, the natural and homely Ayurvedic beach resort in God’s own Kerala at northern district Kasaragod, stays in between Bekal beach and Nileshwar beach. Kerala which is situated in the southern part of India is globally famous for its scenic beauty of greenery. This state is very rich in natural, beautiful for its heavenly ambiance of green surroundings and charming beauty of water by making it paradise over land. At Kanan Beach Resort, we value relationships and offer everlasting hospitality. The beauty of nature we kept here as it is; the beach, green mansions, vast seashore, rich with coconut trees and estuary where the river mate with sea. You can fish both in sea and river. The most peculiar thing about here is Kasaragod district is a place of “Theyyam”, the divine ritual dance; we offer you this seasonal folk art to enjoy and know our culture. “It is the beach resort of its kind, which offers a ‘Home away from Home’ feeling”.

Detailed Reviews
Lovely and very comfortable bungalows, sea view, the rumble of the waves on the shore, this small perfectly kept and elegant resort is a real gem. We had a large bungalow for five, rooms, bathrooms and our large verandah were a pleasure to stay in. The service is as good as in a 5 star luxury hotel with smiles. The restaurant is excellent with a real chef.
The beach is 9km long, perfect for long walks and the very clean pool is good to relax in.The shade of the coconut trees between the bungalows and the Beach protects the lawn in front of the bungalows. We stayed there 3 nights and wish we had stayed longer.
The location is superb and unique and our stay was paradise !

Had a 5 night stay here in January, the perfect amount of time as it is very quiet.
Beautiful location on a stunning beach.
There are only 10 rooms.
Good food and alcohol can been organised for you..there is no bar.
The only issue we had was that the room seemed a bit dusty and had a few cobwebs.
Also a couple of issues with reception organising trips..
Asked for a tuk tuk to the walking bridge, only to discover that the bridge had actually collapsed!!
Also ordered a taxi and having asked for the price twice by different members of our party upon return the cost had gone up 3 times the original quote.
If you want a tranquil and relaxing place this is it

Pros:
We visited Kanan beach resort during early March 23 and the stay was excellent. We stayed in Double room cottage [ No 6] with a garden view and room was as advertised. The hall is wide and opens to beach view [very far] on one side and garden view on the other. The sliding wooden doors provide a good view and they can opened so much the hall looks like front portigo. The room is on a raised platform to give. a better view of the ocean and there are couple of bamboo chairs where one can relax. The bedroom is quite spacious and also has a sliding glass door which provides sea view [bit far]. The bedroom is attached to a spacious bathroom [dual door] , which opens on other side to luggage room and then to hall. The place is well maintined and rooms were clean and comfortable. The walk to beach from our cottage was less than 100m and beach is very good. There are lot of beds with shade on the beach. Though its a public beach , its not used by locals on weekdays. So you almost have the beach to the hotel guest. The swimming pool and garden are quite nice.
Cons:
The restaurant food can be be improved. The Indian dishes are very below par. They could not cook things we eat on a daily basis quite right. This might not be apparent to foreigners but for Indians its quite disappointing. The resort staff is courteous and well behaved. The massage is also quite sub par especially the oils.

We have stayed many times in Nileshwar but 1st time in Kanan Beach Resort. The resort has garden view & sea view cottages & even a Cottage with 2 bedrooms for families. The cottages are large like a Bungalow with a sitting room cum utilities, a outdoor verandah & a luggage room besides your bedroom & bathroom. The sitting room has foldable doors which can be totally opened or closed. The food was very tasty with a la carte breakfast & a variety of seafood for lunch & dinner. The staff are very courteous as is the manager Prakash. The resort is owned by a charming French couple Martin & Anna who we had the good fortune of meeting. They have retained the authenticity of the place & haven't made it too commercial. The resort overlooks a unspoilt gorgeous Nileshwar beach with amazing sunsets. There is a cute little swimming pool too.

My family and I wanted to go on a break after two years of Covid lock down. We were on a look out for a place where we as a family could just sit back and relax and cut off from the world.
We stumbled upon Kanan Beach Resort in our search and decided to book it for our vacation. We thank our luck for finding such a gem. It was an absolute blissful and relaxed stay we would have. We liked everything about the resort but here are a few noteworthy mentions:
Ambience , Architecture and Resort Layout: The resort is just by the beach, the cottages for the guests are laid out with a lot of space between them. The cottages themselves are designed and build keeping traditional local architecture in mind. We went in the beginning of April (beginning of Indian summer) but the cool sea breeze and the spacious rooms kept all of us relatively cool.
Staff and Service: The staff including Prakash, Manu and everyone else at the resort were very helpful , kind, accommodating of our requests. We are particularly grateful to the staff for the services they provided over what was a major holiday weekend in Kerala. (Vishu and Easter)
We are now definitely planning to visit this resort in future for our family vacation with possibly longer stays. Thanks Team Kanan.

Every year for 8 years now, this year we stayed for one month. As before, the bungalows are stylish and well equipped, very large bed, each bungalow has an open air lounge area with large 'fridge. large shower room, and individual deck with wicker loungers & chairs, beautiful gardens with pool, and total peace and quiet.. The open-air restaurant serves very good meals, Zakesh is very helpful with advice, in fact all the staff are wonderful, very friendly & efficient. A unique place to relax.

Very thing is very beautiful here..
Pros :
Cleanliness : 5/5
Front desk : 5/5
House cleaning : 5/5
Food : 3/5
We opted for beach front cottage and I must say it's very beautifully maintained property. We stayed for 2 nights 3 days.
They have taken precautions for covid. Nothin to worry for and no one to bother us here in the resort.
Note : One can excel for their work only if their food excels!!
Cons:
Day 1 : English breakfast such as bread, Jam, toast, Omlet, juice, fruits ( papaya, watermelon, banana, pineapple) coffee n tea is available.
South Indian breakfast : Dose, white veg curry, kerala Idli. (These food were cold).. Felt very limited.
Since we traveled with 3 yrs old. Kid is still small and we asked for Upma. After much cribbing the manager agreed to prepare 1 small bowl of Upma for my baby. (much requested by us)which I feel was not welcoming for us!!
Day 2: same English breakfast.
South indian breakfast : sambar (tasted good), Upma, chutney, dosa.
Today we were not even asked if we want any juice or Omlet.. We were badly ignored by the person who served us. He needs a proper training as to how to treat a guest!! He only knows one thing in the world and that is to say NO on your face to whatever you ask him. Annoyed by his behavior. I don't knw what problem he had with us!!
First time I am writing a - ve review about somebody. We are at the resort to relax n enjoy the property and not to have any complains but this is beyond something that put me off!! Don't be offended on us since I wrote about the waiter.

This is our 2nd visit to Kanan Beach Resort. Our daughter & us stayed 2 nights here. The cottages are very spacious with a bedroom, sitting room opening out into a verandah & a luggage room. There is a cute swimming pool interspersed with cottages & a restaurant. The resort is on the Nileshwar beach which is very quiet except for the locals. The food menu is a mix of tasty local & Continental cuisine. The staff are very courteous & attentive. Special mention to Manu who took good care of us. Highly recommended for a serene holiday.

What a wonderful place to stay ! We ended up at KBR after am 8 day trip down from Bangalore and what a wonderful way to end our holiday!
Everything about the resort was perfect - the sort of 5 star boutique luxury you would pay $500 a night for in other places but for very significantly less
Probably one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at - just 10 "cottages" spread out around a pool with direct access to the most perfect and deserted beach.
Special mention to all the wonderful staff!

The beach in front of the resort is cleaned by the staff. Outside of this area you are likley to see litter,e.g. discarded bottles, plastic bottles etc. The sea is a lovely temperature but often rough until you get beyond the large waves. Suitable for good swimmers, not suitable for children, unles on an unusual calmer day.
