A beautiful location with warm inviting hosts. Loved the room, the view and the living area was just lovely to relax in with a roaring fire.
Mt Rosa Lodge was luxurious but comfortable and relaxed, and the hosts were just lovely.

cannot say enough about this lodge and its owners, Maureen and Brian. Had 4 wonderful days in this beautiful part of the South Island. Both Maureen and Brian are terrific hosts, and the rooms are very comfortable, with glorious views. Maureen is a wonderful cook and I highly recommend booking in for one or more of her dinners. Thanks to Brian for some very interesting talks about wine in the region. Look forward to going back sometime.

We booked into Mt Rosa Lodge because it was ideally situated between Queenstown and Wanaka. We ended up extending our stay to 4 nights and had the most wonderful time. Brian and Maureen have put a great package together and we were bowled over by both the quality of accommodation and their hospitality. We loved the area and the accommodation and would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of visiting this region.

Lovely to read your response and we thank you for it. The biggest compliment for us was you extending your stay. Yes the region certainly is multi faceted and depending on your interest will take you beyond expectation. Pleased you managed to partake in some of what the region has to offer. We are still discovering and experiencing it for ourselves. The vineyards are looking great and the nets are on now to keep the birds off. Looks like an early harvest for Central Otago but one never knows till the final hurdle. Trust the rest of your stay in New Zealand was exemplary. Our regards

On arrival 13 February we were greeted by Melissa a trusted friend of Brian and Maureen's, our room was splendid providing the most magnificent view of grape vine after grape vine forming a beautiful carpet on the valley floor in the foreground and the mountains in the background, later we were welcomed by Brian and Maureen. Mt Rosa lodge has been thoughtfully planned and the lodge/home is 10years young. Guests are personally greeted at the car-park and directed to your suite which in our case comprised SPA bath within a luxurious bathroom complete with warming towel rail and the finest of personal grooming products. The KING bed was fantastically comfortable and the room large and comfortable. The mini bar was stocked with real milk and soft drinks, there were tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets as well as real coffee grinds and real tea leaves if you wished to make your "cuppa" in the traditional way. Breakfast was a treat with a varied offering day by day of fresh fruit, juice, cereal, toast, croissants some filled with chocolate that Maureen had baked as well as home made marmalade, local honey, omelettes or poached eggs, sliced avocado, sausages, tomato and surprise, surprise one morning there was the addition of chilli and cheese bagels. The daily breakfast offered a surprise cooked starter to the day. The in-house evening meal included in our tariff (we stayed for 7 nights) was shared with Brian Maureen and another couple of guests, providing banter across the table whilst we ate the delicious Mediterranean style meal that Maureen had prepared. This was after we shared a platter of cheese, crackers, fruit and wine out-doors with the ever funny dry-humoured Brian. Over dinner my husband and I consumed a bottle of Brian's "The Imbiber" Pinot Noir you must sample this wine and of course I recommend you buy a reasonably priced bottle. Maureen and Brian gave us fantastic suggestions on places we should visit and I am ever grateful to Maureen for suggesting the Millhouse Restaurant at Millbrook Golf Resort for my husband and I to have a celebratory dinner for our 10th Wedding Anniversary ( Valentine's Day). Brian suggested we sample wines and have dinner on another night at Amesfiled Winery and Maureen suggested we sample the Cheeses at the Cheesery which was less than a 10 minute drive from MT Rosa Lodge. Both excellent suggestions(I'll write separate reviews on these). Mt Rosa Lodge affords breath-taking views from the lounge dining area and has an outdoor seated area to simply relax and unwind. During our 7 night stay we met some very interesting guests which made the visit for us very friendly, relaxing and interesting. Brian and Maureen are the consummate hosts, they are helpful but not intrusive and it took next to no time to feel that they were life-long friends. We will definitely return to Mt Rosa Lodge again.

Well what a review! We thank you for this. A lot of planning went in on your part and the level of communication you helped us with made it possible to ensure your 7 night stay with us was a holiday to remember. We have since been again to The Millhouse at Millbrook and we will continue to recommend this. Arrowtown really has every conceivable dining experience and is only 12 mins away. Within the Valley the Cheesery is a regular visit with our guests. Thank you for sending me the recipe for the Apple Roses which I am yet to attempt. Certainly when I do you will get the credit for passing it on to me. Enjoyed the many stories shared during the 7 night stay and your company. Our regards from a beautiful autumnal Central Otago vineyard region. Thank you.

My wife and I spent two nights at the lodge hosted by Maureen and Brian. These two days were a highlight of our trip. The location is spectacular - overlooking the Mount Rosa Vinyard on a hill. The breakfasts were great - they really know how to cook - and add variety in what they serve from day to day. The suite was large with a private balcony, and it was equipped with all high end furnishings, perfectly installed and matched - from the bathrooms with towel warmers and salon-quality bath goods, to the king size bed with some of the softest linens you have slept in. Every detail in the room was well thought out. The friendliness of the hosts was also impressive - waving goodbye at the end, just like family...except our family doesn't live in a vineyard and make a great Pinot Noir!

Thank you for your review posted a few weeks ago. Yes the location is indeed spectacular and now with the leaves starting to turn yellow we will be in for a treat in a few weeks time. We loved hearing about your part of the world which we were not familiar with but have a better understanding of it. Canada is a place which we feel very much at home in and do return to keep discovering it. Lovely comments on the breakfasts, thank you. It is a delight and challenge to keep exploring the breakfast menus. Come back at visit us again sometime.

Thank you for your post of your 5 night stay with us after the New Year. Your Lord of the Rings adventures opened our eyes to the places you found. We were most enthusiastic to hear of your daily trips and finds. Must admit some of it was new to us. Look forward to your return. I am sure there are more LOR sights to discover. Thank you for your review. Regards from us both

Thank you for your review and pleased to know you loved staying here and also this region. Loved your photos taken with your high tech camera. Thank you for them and took our breath away to see the property through the lens. Loved our dinners with you and the stimulating conversation overlooking the fabulous views of the vineyards of Gibbston Valley. Thanks for the compliments with the dinners, always a pleasure when well received. See you another time you need a break away. Try Autumn, the colours are magic and weather settled, although a bit cooler.

Thank you so much for your post. Yes the Pinot Noir has a great following especially after guests have stayed where it is grown and met with the grower. This years grapes are looking good at the leaf plucking stage where we expose the fruit to more sun. We hope you have a Happy New Year and look forward to a prosperous year ahead. There was a double rainbow as we were dining late with guests 3 nights ago. Really magic. Thank you again for visiting us at Mt Rosa Lodge

Thank you for posting a review of your stay with us at Mt Rosa Lodge. Yes those curry puffs are becoming legendary. A shame you didn't quite get to see the magic night sky that night and no use telling you that it was wonderful the night you left. Our regards to you and your family and thank you for staying with us at Mt Rosa Lodge.
