Sipi River Lodge is located in the foothills of Mt Elgon (4321m) within Eastern Uganda. The Lodge is set amongst 17 acres of private grounds, which include the 80m Kapsururu Falls, several caves and peaceful gardens to explore. The Lodge is run with only a small number of guests at any one time making it a very "home away from home" experience and we pride ourselves on the personal service we offer our guests.

The lodge is relatively small, with only 3 self contained cottages and 3 non self contained Bandas with shared bathrooms. For some reason, the cottages only have 1 king size bed and 2 small bank-beds. So be careful when booking for twins. The shower water is very hot which is a nice advantage considering that sipi area is really chilly especially at night. The food comes with out salt, i found this very healthy but also makes the food tasteless. Request that all your meals have salt. They have 2 lovely dogs. The non self contained bandas are very small inside, i would not recommend them. Overall the lodge could do better since they are well positioned at the falls.

Having travelled from the chaos of Kampala, this Lodge and it's wonderful location was idyllic. We stayed in Town lodge with wonderful views to the splendid, thunderous waterfall. It is the wet season, so there is a huge amount of water. The lodge is sympathetically designed, lovely warm showers, and a day bed for lolling, and gazing at the view. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is European/British, and is some of the best quality we've experienced in Uganda. There are wonderful walks to the surrounding waterfalls. We also did a tour of a coffee plantation, and participated in the coffee making process. It's a good way of contributing to the local economy. At this time of year take good walking shoes, the walks can be slippy. It can also be cold at night, but don't let that put you off, the beds are cosy and comfortable.

We stayed in the bandas which were the 'budget' option. Good sized rooms with lots of thought put into making the visitor comfortable - places to hang things, a lamp for walking up to the lodge at night and umbrellas for if it rains. Only down-side was the walk to the separate banda which housed the bathroom. Despite this, beautiful hot showers - just a bit cold if you need to run to the loo during the night. Food options were all fantastic - highly recommended for the food alone. Great location for doing a hike to Sipi Falls.

Run by a young couple from Estonia, very friendly with efficient staff. The location is mind blowing, with a very homely main lodge and wide range of accommodation, from basic but clean huts, to well-appointed apartments with dramatic views of the falls. The weather was not ideal while we were there, but had a really enjoyable and informative hike up to the middle and top falls, with local guide Martin. Highly recommended!
