I stayed here last week with my girlfriend for four nights whilst visiting family locally. The manager is very kind and chatty, and the caretakers couldn't do enough for us whilst we were there. They were brilliant. Our room was huge and clean, with patio doors leading out to a private, enclosed garden. The swimming pool was a welcome bonus in the afternoon heat too. We had breakfast at the hotel each morning - the food was cooked very nicely and they especially did very well to cater for my girlfriend, who is a vegetarian. There was a good amount of food - as much fresh fruit and freshly baked toast as we wanted, plus a cooked breakfast option that was delicious. One morning, the manager also gave us a plate of 'milk rice' to try, which is a local dish. The staff even…
Very nice place to stay. Beautiful styled rooms. Little clean swimmingpool and good cuisine (not much choice, mainly Srilankan food). A real quiet place in a busy town. Friendly staff and nothing is to much for them. Perfect place to stay if you just arrived or leave (by plane).
We stayed here for 2 night in the middle of february. We enjoyed it very much, the hotel is located in a quiet area of Colombo so you're not located near the centre of the city or near any sites but we liked did very much. You can make a safe and for Colombo relatively quiet walk from the hotel through this part of Colombo. The hotel does also have a swimming pool but there are no sunbeds. If you want, they will provide you some extra towels for near swimming pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they can give you some good ideas. Breakfast and dinner is very good in this hotel and on our second night we ate alfresco on the roof of the hotel. The room is very spacious the only point of criticism we have is that the room could by a little bit cleaner
Finding the hotel is not that easy, it appeared somewhat hidden in a back street. The staff is very very friendly, open for a conversation and try to be as helpful as possible. We enjoyed both diner and breakfast. The surrounding area is more al less a suburb of Colombo and for us it was not very inspiring to endure our walk in the neighbourhood. Our room was sufficient for our short stay.
We turned up a lane, came through a big green gate, and arrived at a lovely reception area apparently emerging from the undergrowth. Escondite is welcoming and friendly. The six roomed hotel is totally removed from the noise and confusion of a busy city. Our stay was only 24 hours and I would return in a heartbeat. Deepal, the manager, is helpfulness itself and nothing was too much trouble. We were able to obtain 7 pm checkout, which we paid for, and also appreciated very much. The hotel is architect designed and clearly a labour of love.
