This isn't a five star hotel, but for the type of hotel it is (Older, a bit shabby, but still very nice...like a movie star past her prime but still retaining the elegance and charm of yesteryear) we enjoyed it very much.

The check in people were so nice and welcoming. In fact, every employee we interacted with seemed like it was their goal to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Not a grouch to be found! I had my service dog with me and had read that this hotel doesn't accept dogs (Except of course service dogs are allowed everywhere.) when checking in, no one even mentioned her, nor asked me any questions. There was a big gun show in town at the time, so maybe they were worried that some of their guests were on edge? :)

The room itself was nice enough, with a cute red couch and a nice writing desk. The bed was comfortable and the pillows serviceable. (We had brought a couple from home as well.)

The tub drained verrrrry slowly, but it didn't really bother us. I wish they had updated the electrical outlets in the room to have some to plug your electronics in directly, but luckily we had brought a couple of the square plug in adapters. Speaking of which, even the regular sockets were installed onto the lights at an odd angle, making it difficult to keep laptops with large plugs properly inserted.

The first night I woke up terrified because I thought there was some sort of storm or something wrong with the building. It turns out they are very near a train route and the trains coming through are loud (And scary if you don't know what they are.) When I inquired at the front desk the following day they told me about the train station and that they used to tell people checking in, but now they don't. I highly recommend they begin again.

Just outside the hotel, and in various public areas there are adorable white statues of people involved in train side activities, such as a man getting his shoes shined, a boy selling newspapers, and a conductor doing conductor stuff. *lol*

The buffet was ok, but the service was awesome. They did have the WORST TONGS EVER in the buffet which made it difficult to get the food we wanted. We estimated they save about 15% just on frustration alone.

We would stay here again.

We stayed in a train car and it was a unique experience that my family and I enjoyed. The room is somewhat small in the setup but we did not plan to be in our room much anyway so that was not an issue. The tracks are situated on active lines and you could feel a slight rumble when a freight train would go by, very cool!. The hotel was very clean. We utilized the restaurant for breakfast and I had one of the BEST omelettes I have ever had. My son said his pancakes were good as well, the prices in the restaurant I felt were reasonable for a hotel restaurant. The front desk staff were excellent, patient, and accommodating. I do not remember their names but we had a wonderful gentleman check us in on July 4 and a fabulous gal for check out July 5. After a year of lockdowns, we were pleasantly surprised we had such a positive experience for our stay. I would definitely stay at this property again in the future. I am one that is EXTREMELY picky for accommodations and I honestly did not have one complaint with this property.

We have stayed at the Crown Plaza 5 times in the last 2 1/2 years when we attend a twice yearly conference. We keep coming back due to the excellent experience we have had each time. The staff is friendly, the rooms have met expectations, the atmosphere is different than a typical hotel with the historic train cars and people from the past statues around the hotel, The hotel is not too big but has a restaurant and bar which we usually visit for breakfast once each stay. It is connected to the Convention Center and is a perfect location for us. The trains don't bother us.

Have stayed here a couple times as it's the only IHG hotel downtown connected to the ICC. The executive king rooms on the ground floor are great- lots of square footage and surprisingly not very noisy. Cleanliness and amenities are fine, but the hotel could probably use an update soon. Could do without the somewhat creepy white statues scattered around, but it's part of the vintage atmosphere, I think. Parking is valet only, but there is a public self-park garage across the street that is slightly cheaper.

We stayed here before in a train car room liked it so much we stayed here again in one of the train car rooms . Had a great time check in na was fine no issues It was Sunday night and the restaurant was closed but there are ample restaurants within walking distance so we walked to a nearby old spaghetti factory restaurant. We had a long bed crew cab truck that we knew from reading wouldn’t have fit in the garage so we valet parked it with no problem. The hotel is right next to Lucas oil stadium and the convention center so if plan a visit one might want to check and make sure there are no major events planned . All said we cant wait to visit again and explore more of downtown Indy

We booked this one of the Pullman car rooms back in June for after going to the Children s Museum and were super excited. When we got there the valet was fantastic. He gets all of my one star. The entire experience flipped once we walked in. Got to the counter and it took a very long time. After 15 minutes I was informed that they had our room wrong. We were booked into a train car room with one bed. Not going to work with two kids, my wife and myself. They said no we don’t have another one and didn’t offer another solution. I got mad and asked for a refund. This soiled an otherwise great experience in the city. Waiting for our car my wife went back in and made sure that the refund would happen and the woman behind the counter lied and said she offered an alternative. I will never even try to stay at this hotel ever again. Easily my worst hotel experience ever.

My husband and I chose to stay in a pullman car inside the Chase Plaza. The room was excellent and it was fun to be inside a train. Bedding was very comfortable and room was very clean. Bathroom is small but the is to be expected on a train. The hotel is built around the trains so no outside walking is necessary from front desk. The staff was all very helpful. It was a Sunday night and not crowded. The bar area was not open. A restaurant was open for breakfast but we did not choose to eat there. Our stay was great and we loved sleeping on the train car. They warned us we might feel other trains on the outside tracks but we never did. Our room was on the far side of the two trains so it was quiet as there was nobody walking outside our windows. On an inside train car you would have people walking in the hallway below your windows and regular hotel rooms across the hall.

My wife and I stayed for an anniversary weekend trip. We stayed in one of the train rooms. It was a surprise for my wife, whose father was a railroad engineer.
The facility was amazing (ironically, we were at the same Union Station in the late 80s, when it was an open market/vendor establishment). Great decor, old-world vibe and our train room was great. We had no issues with noise from the attached train station. My wife did feel rumblings from a train, but thought it was very cool and said it really brought the experience to life. The pool was warm and inviting (not salt water) and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. The staff was very helpful and the prices at Taggart’s (hotel bar & grill) were quite reasonable.
The hotel is connected via an elevated walkway to the Convention Center and sits caddy-corner to Lucas Oil Stadium.
If you’re a train enthusiast, a history buff, or heading to an event/football game, this hotel is a nice choice. We will most likely stay again, if in the area.

This property does not compare to other Crowne Royal properties. There are train cars in the hotel. Better accommodations can be found nearby for a much cheaper cost. Even though the stadium is “across the street” in their words. You have to walk a block to a block and a half, then under an overpass with homeless, to go to another couple of blocks across another street to reach Lucas Oil Stadium’s entrance. The restaurant does not serve lunch and the vending machine room does not have vending machines. I wish someone had posted a review with these details before we booked.

This is a wonderful hotel that offers great regular rooms and the opportunity to stay in a unique Pullman train car room. The train car rooms are long and narrow so a little less elbow room but oh so fun. I dreamt that I was riding in a train across Siberia Lol. The room even shook a little when an active train rumbled by. The upgrade to the train car was kindly given to me at no extra charge after an email request a few days ahead. Also everyone was really nice. In the morning as I was in a hurry I had oatmeal for breakfast at their little self service store. Perfect!

Call the front desk is best, but I can also tell you the rail car rooms are not wheel chair or walker accessible. You have to step up some steep, narrow stairs.
