The Indianapolis Marriott Downtown has earned high marks for its exceptional service, with many guests commending the staff's friendliness and professionalism. The hotel's cleanliness and comfortable atmosphere also receive praise, providing travelers with a welcoming environment and tidy rooms. Its prime location is a hit for easy access to the city's offerings, although some were let down by the closure of the on-site Starbucks. Despite these positives, the value proposition has been called into question by travelers who experienced unexpected charges and service issues.

Stayed here for a volleyball tournament at the convention center. The rooms were very clean, modern and spacious. You need to request a fridge if you need one. We were able to make due with a cooler and the ice machine. Microwaves are available on every floor with cleaning supplies close by if needed. The staff was very accommodating with each of my encounters. They have restaurants in the hotel as well as boxed “quick” selections. This is a downtown hotel, so don’t expect cheap food or drinks. Lots available within walking distance. I went to the ice machine and there had been a drink spilled. I called housekeeping and alerted them to the spill and went to another floor for ice. When I returned to my floor, I checked to see if the spill had been cleaned (not expecting it had) and it was all cleared. It couldn’t have been much more than 10 minutes. That type of response on a holiday weekend is impressive. Shower was large.

Positive: They allowed me to check in early. The self parking was easy to access, it’s under the hotel. Rooms clean. Hotel was clean. Two restaurants and bars, Starbucks, nice sitting areas throughout the hotel. It’s right across from the Indy convention center(walking). Bed was nice and they had coffee and water in the rooms.

Cons: They said they offered 24 room service-nope and they stopped serving food at 9:30 pm. That would have been nice to have known. Had meetings all day and had an evening reception. I was hopeful to get something to eat at the hotel, reason why I booked it! No room service, no house keeping. Parking is $47 a day, just an FYI, but I got a package that offered free parking, Netflix and WiFi, which never worked out for me. Staff was not overly friendly, but they were not disrespectful. You could tell they did not want to do much work and didn’t want to be bothered.

Also, I did not use valet parking but I did hear a few others complain about valet not parking cars after 5pm. I would call and confirm if you are getting to hotel after 5 pm and expecting valet!

Overall, it wasn’t a bad hotel, the location was great for me, just wished I could have ordered food and room service.

We booked a room the morning of our arrival to try to get closer to downtown. (original hotel was 3 miles out) We were quite surprised to find a room available as the national football championship was in town. We booked a room with 2 queen beds which said free cancellation was available until 6 pm. When we arrived at the hotel, the bellman brought a luggage cart at our request, but did not offer any assistance with unloading our bags. We checked in and proceeded to our room on the 8th floor, only to open the door to find one bed. Back down to the lobby with 2 kids and luggage in tow to be told sorry, but that's the last room available. They apologized & provided comp cards for the bar and the restaurant. They also cut the rate and said 1 cot could be brought to the room, but not 2 b/c of the fire marshal. We asked if a double room was available at the JW Marriott just down the street - they said yes but they would charge us a cancellation fee if we moved there.... what?? My husband went back and forth with the desk clerk, who kept having to go into an office to speak with her manager, but we were exhausted from traveling and just ready to be settled, so we ended up agreeing to the concessions they offered. They did promptly bring the cot and blankets & extra towels to the room, which was a handicapped room. Shower only and the curtain did not reach the floor, so each time we showered the floor was soaked. Hot water was hit or miss as well. We did call down for a mini-fridge which they brought up promptly. The comp cards they gave us for the bar could not be used for alcoholic beverages..... why have comp cards for the bar then?? Lobby was nice with lots of seating areas and nice fireplace. We had dinner at Connor's and it was fine - nothing great. Staff in hotel were all friendly and it was clean and convenient to downtown and the stadium. We could not use the sky walk however as they had it closed off for the AL team's use. They were also not providing room service while we were there. While they did offer some perks to offset the mishap with our booking, not sure this would be our choice when in the area again.

We were charged $70.50 to park just for 2 nights, and did NOT use the valet - no mention of the expensive parking cost on the website or at the hotel counter when parking was discussed (we turned in our tickets to recieved room keys that were supposed to work for parking), so that comes to about $450 for a 2 night stay. The bathroom sink only produced hot water Room 1617. No fridge so don't bring food back after eating out. The Conference room L2 men's restroom has 4 sinks: 2 faucets do not work, and of the 2 that do, the sink was clogged- makes for serious congestion when you are there for a conference. We were told that our room keys worked for parking. Not so. After being unable to leave the parking garage, we had to go park again, go back inside and get in line at the front desk and get cards that worked. So added 30 minutes to trying to leave and the humiliation of having to back out of the parking garage line. This place needs work and certainly needs to clarify the added cost for parking.

My family checked in on friday for a cheer competition and when we arrived to the room the bellboy was already there and said that the glass lampshade was broken when he got there. The glass was pushed up in a corner. He said he would send some one up to clean it up. 3 hours later no one had come to the room and my daughter forgot it was there and cut her ankle. I mentioned then i felt my room should be comped but was told “I don’t think I can do that.” By Sunday her foot was visibly bruised and causing her pain. I told them again at checkout i felt the room should be comped and was told yes by one manager but the general manager then said it would have to go through insurance and i would have to pay for the room now and we would work it out later. So in short their negligence caused injury to my daughter and I had to pay for it. Also the shade was never replaced. Shame on you Marriott!
PS. A response to my review on another site was met with apologies and a request to speak with me but my calls and emails go unanswered.

I am an event planner in Indianapolis, and I stay at multiple hotels a year, yet the Marriott Downtown is one that can't be beat. I am always treated like royalty as a guest and a partner staying with them for the event, they not only make my job easier, but their hotel rooms are some of the best in the city. Clean rooms, friendly staff, and amazing food.. what more could you need under one roof?!

This hotel is expensive to stay at, and for the price most of the room views are poor, beds were not very comfortable. Bathroom layout was a little weird but overall not a bad room. Hallway noise and noise from others rooms could be heard frequently

We stayed here for a convention We were greeted by a man standing in front of the front desk who immediately told us they weren’t checking in yet. I wanted to ask about parking. I was told in a chat to bring in my parking ticket: I was also told in a chat to park across the street. Apparently that isn’t the hotel parking. But it ended up being 15 cheaper per night.
My reservation said M Lounge Access but the clerk told me I’d have to pay 50.00 a night. Since out of the three days they only serve food one of the days, that’s high for just snacks. I said no then asked a different clerk who was extremely nice and saw we did have M Lounge and he fixed our keys.
M Lounge needs to post times and that the evening reception is only Sunday to Thursday and no breakfast on weekends and post the hours.
Bathroom toilet paper holder was broken and toilet paper kept falling off.
We did have a great view of the Capitol. Bed was comfortable.
Food options are very limited. There’s a bar, a restaurant, a market and Starbucks, which closes at 3:30 and always had a huge line.
We ate at Connor’s twice. They did have good food and our waiter, I think Nathan, was outstanding. But it’s expensive.
The bathrooms for the conference were limited. There were only two.
Most of the staff were great, especially the second desk clerk who fixed our keys for the lounge and greeted us with a very friendly attitude.
It’s downtown Indianapolis so I understand charging for parking… but 50.00 is high. Across the street was 35.
If not a Bonvoy Marriott member, WiFi is 17.00 a day!
No microwave or refrigerator in the rooms. Not enough coffee or toilet paper for three days without asking for more. No housekeeping right now.
So all in all decent, but a few changes would be nice.

The hotel was super clean, and the staff was super nice. The view from my window was gorgeous. My one complaint was this: We had six rooms (with three to four people in each) and after about five hours, three groups got their rooms. At eight hours the other three got theirs. The staff only offered the first three rooms free breakfasts as an apology. I do understand we went during the Big Ten basketball game, as well as a Large scale cheer competition. They wanted to clean the rooms before we went in, so good for them to put health and hygiene before caving to rude customers. Super convenient to have the skywalk attached to the hotel and Circle Centre mall. Over all, it was a great stay!

So terribly disappointed in our stay. Paid almost $300 a night (289) and found a dead cockroach in our room and watched one crawl across the floor on a common area. When brought up to front desk staff they offered nothing more than saying “that’s bad” and “I’ll let them know”. I had a flight to catch so i couldn’t stay and discuss it further. It Also took 6 hours for a towel delivery and we were told that we shouldn’t need more towels. We asked for toilet paper and never received any despite asking twice in 24 hours. We had to use the bathroom on the second floor open to all guests which is not something i wanted to have to do during a health pandemic. Had our issues been addressed properly, resolved or compensated, i would certainly give a better review. Now i have to worry about what critters i may have brought hime in my luggage and again, at nearly $300 a night, that’s unacceptable to me.

My son lives north of Indianapolis and for years has attended a gaming conference in Indy. I would gift him a hotel room for a couple of nights so he did not have to drive back late at night. I contacted the hotel before and had my credit card put on file for incidentals. I suggest you do the same if the person does not have a credit card and notify them of the age .

Yes, but they will ignore your request even if it is for medical reasons. They don’t care that you truly need it. Unlike other hotels, they don’t have them in all rooms. Stay elsewhere if you truly need a fridge for medical reasons. This place will disappoint you.
