The folks at this campground are friendly and helpful. But my spot was difficult to back into and I honestly thought I might end up in the fish pond. It's tricky getting in and out because the road does not loop all the way around. However, it was quiet and OK for the one night I needed to be there.

Good price and fine for a quick night of tenting on our way through indy. Very friendly staff. Portapotty by tent site, but i used the very clean restroom in the building. Bring bug spray to guard against stocked lake water bugs.

If you can find a better campground in the area, I would highly suggest you try that one out first. Our campsite was backed up to a fairly busy highway. The bathrooms and showers were located in the office building. The only issue with that is that the office building is closed from 7PM to 7AM, so you have no access to them at all. I know we won't be going back.

Response from IndyLakes, Manager at Indy Lakes Campground

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We would always accommodate a change of lots when possible. Southport Road is a 40 mph 2-lane rural route and most of our lots are further away than houses on the same road. We are out of season in September, we did put you in a full service lot with city water and sewer. Our hours are posted online and in-store. We do require working restrooms in all RV stays but of course, our in-store facilities are available when we are open. If your restroom was not working, we are unable to fix that.

Stayed for race week. The house met our needs- very clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed the deck, watching the baby ducks and geese. Staff ensured all of our needs were met. Although there was a fishing tournament in progress, all fishermen were quiet and respectful.

The most important part is that the staff in the office are very nice, friendly, & efficient at the check in process. The few times I had to go to the office or call, issues were quickly resolved. The grounds leave a bit to be desired. If you're a fisherman, I'm sure you'll love the pay lakes . If not, you may not be very comfortable. I'm used to staying in dedicated campgrounds that have ample space. Some of the sites are way too tight. And by too tight, I mean I was only able to put my awning out about 1 foot before hitting the window awning of the neighboring motor home. The people in the travel trailer on the other side were constantly hitting the side of my travel trailer. The man parked his truck between mine & his trailers and there was only about 6" on either side meant I was awaken multiple times through the night by the odd hours he kept. They had debris and trash stored outside their trailer and also had tiki torches outside my window less than a foot away from my trailer which made me pretty uneasy. They apparently haul metal scrap for money and on one particular day, something heavy fell off the side of their truck & hit my trailer. There are several run down trailers that appear to be permanently kept there. Even though some of the sites are a bit rough, the management keeps it mowed and sprays weeds in the gravel routinely. The pay lakes are open 24 hrs a day so there's always people outside. Most are respectful of the time of day and there were only a handful of times that I heard people making noise during the night. There are lots of potholes in the gravel drive and it's impossible to drive through without hitting them. I was actually a little nervous to stay there and once we backed our trailer in, we went looking for other options but after staying a few nights, it wasn't bad at all except for the neighbors who kept hitting our trailer.
