We recently enjoyed a short stay at Glen Davis Boutique Hotel. Ensure you visit on a Saturday and arrive by 2pm for a guided visit to the old shale oil works ($15pp). Our hosts served a delicious afternoon tea on the verandah and we enjoyed the pool room and the open fire place in the beautifully renovated lounge. This is... More

We had made a booking via the net and email but somewhere a glitch had occurred so we turned up without a fixed booking. Luckily they had space and welcomed us in. This is an older style building which has been well renovated and furnished with antiques. Dinner and breakfast was in the tariff. We shared a table with other... More

We recently held a large 50th birthday party at the Glen Davis Boutique Hotel over three days and two nights. Our hosts, Adam and Alison and their family were a pleasure to plan the event with and really helpful in maximising the best way to use their lovely, comfortable hotel for the best outcome. Under their guidance we happily surrendered... More

In the middle of no where! This inn is run by a very nice family. It is an odd inn with each room different and bathrooms adjacent and not en suite. Each room is different, much like a B&B but they so serve 3 meals. Their cooking is both generous and very good. The inn has an astounding collection of... More

The Hotel is heated. There does has 2 slow combustion heaters, one in the lounge and another in the pool room with chimneys radiating heat through the entire upstairs. There are also 2 gas heaters in the reception and dining room areas. In 13 years of operating the Hotel no guest has ever complained about being cold, rather they are... More

We came here with some friends so it was great the hotel was from a different era and we really enjoyed our time together. The hotel is extensively decorated in an Art Deco style and has an excellent pool room, dining room and Lounge room, magnificent entry and spectacular views of the cliffs surrounding the valley. The rooms are basic... More

This is quite a tricky review to write as there is a lot to like but a lot that falls short too. Glen Davis was once a thriving shale oil mining town on the western side of the range north of Lithgow. At its height it was about 2,500 people, mainly miners. In the early 1950's the need for shale... More

I held my 40th birthday weekend at this Hotel & the only negative comment was "their stay wasn't long enough!". Everyone had a fantastic time for several reasons. Able to have the whole place to ourselves, food amazing, views breath taking, homely feel, easy going hosts to help ease you into the relaxed country life, no mobile reception, no internet,... More

In the early 1900's this was lauded as the best hotel west of the mountains. After 11 years of skillful restoration, you can now see why. Surrounded by glowing sandstone canyon walls of the the Capertee Valley, the art deco hotel is now in near original condition, with period furnishings and decorations. Nothing is 'flash'. Just stylishly, authentic. The rooms are... More

If you’re unfamiliar with the area then it’s worth doing a little research on Glen Davis and the Capertee Valley. It’s one of the most stunning places you can visit within 3.5 hours of Sydney and the town has an incredible feel about it albeit a shell of its former glory. The Hotel is generally hired out to large groups... More

We were very fortunate to get married at Glen Davis Hotel in March this year. The hotel is a quaint art deco style hotel located at Glen Davis in the Capertee Valley. The town itself is very quiet with the nearest pub/shops being 30mins away. This however, makes the town and the surrounds very serene and peaceful. The views in... More
