This is the only decent hotel in Greencastle, IN. It's location is fantastic but the hotel is showing its age. They have a very antiquated booking process and if you're looking to book on a weekend during the school year, good luck. Sometimes you have to call, others you have to book online. Rooms are held for big weekends such as graduation until certain dates then thousands of people race to get the remaining rooms. Hospitality developers take note, there's an opportunity for more inventory to compete with this property!
I stay at the Inn at DePauw frequently for business travel. I would say I have probably spent 30+ nights here this year, and the biggest complaint I have about the place is that sometimes I can't get a reservation. Usually, the Inn is not what I would say is "super busy". But, at times they have events that have been booked out for a long time, so I have to stay elsewhere. When that has happened, it is always a disappointment, because all of the other places I have stayed around Greencastle have been sub-par. Outside of that, my complaints are about the same as they are for most hotels; they need to upgrade their entertainment from TV's with poorly optioned Direct TV to TV's that are "Smart TV's" so that you can view your own streaming services. That said, the wifi at the Inn is strong, no problem watching Netflix on your laptop. The Inn is also dog friendly, and thank you to the inn for not being oppressive with the fee for said privilege. $40 for the entire stay, not $25-75 per night like many places.…
This was a lovely hotel with very helpful staff!!! I cannot remember the name but one lady went above and beyond. I went outside in the morning to smoke and the bench was wet and she went in and got a towel and dried it so I could sit. (SO SWEET) The room was clean and had everything one would need. Staff was good at giving me directions. Coffee was good as well. I would definitely stay again.
We were fortunate enough to get a room for the 2021 graduation. As usual the stay was amazing. It's great having the patio area available to hang out and also having the Fluttering Duck makes grabbing a bite easy. They always make you feel at home. Robin is fantastic. We will miss staying here.....thank you for a great 4 years!!!!
I have had multiple interactions with the staff and the General Manager at the Inn at DePauw, and I always end our interactions thinking that they demonstrate a standard and example that others should seek to follow. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the General Manager offered a very generous accommodation to me in an instance that was 100% my own inadvertent error. I greatly appreciated her compassion and understanding and it was a breath of fresh air that that she was more concerned with the relationship than she was about dollars alone - - that spoke volumes for me. I highly recommend the Inn at DePauw as a place that provides a stellar lodging experience and delivers it with a high level of integrity and exceptional service. -Lisa Moorehead Charlotte, NC
I have stayed at The Inn at DePauw on numerous occasions over the past 4 years. I have always had a positive experience there. While dining at one of several restaurants on site, or lounging at the outdoor atrium or just sitting on the bench at the hotel, I have met many friendly hotel guests from all over the US. It is an exceptional hotel with a kind and caring staff from the front desk attendants to the housekeeping staff. The lobby is inviting and my room is always clean and refresh smelling. If you need to check in early, just call them and they will do their best to get you checked in early. When back in the area I will definitely stay at The Inn at DePauw again. Tim
We love this hotel! The staff is always so accommodating and friendly. The Inn at DePauw is very modern. They provide excellent amenities such as computers, WiFi, large screen tv in lounge. There are several fine restaurants in the hotel. They are located at the end of the campus which provides a quietness. Don't forget to grab a freshy made cookie at the front desk. They are delicious! Congratulations to the General Manager, this is a wonderfully run top shelf hotel. Gwen Murchison
Clean and comfortable and rooms come with a mini-fridge and microwave. Staff is always friendly. Walking distance to good places to eat in town. Nice place to stay. Minor negatives: HVAC fan was a little loud in the room. I adjusted the thermostat so it wouldn't come on and off so often and it was better. Conversations of guests in the hallway were also kind of loud, but they didn't last long. I think there might just be space at the bottom of the door, and being near the stairs where people are coming in and out might just catch more traffic and noise. Awakened by construction noise outside early in the morning because there was construction out back on a building next door, but that wouldn't be a common occurrence, and it wouldn't keep me from coming back here to stay. The best part: Got a call from the hotel about a notebook they found in the room after we had left. I don't know the last time I had a hotel call me about something we left behind; really impressive. Great service and they truly care about their guests.…
Planned a retreat for about 50 women at The Inn at DePauw which was held in February 2020. This has been held at this location annually for several years. Each year the evaluations returned by the attendees give high ratings to the stay at the hotel. The staff is so helpful and easy to work with. It is truly one of the draws for women to come and participate in the retreat!
We spent Thanksgiving night at the Inn. We were able to check in early when we arrived in Greencastle. The front desk person was very helpful and informative. Our room was very nice, clean and well appointed. The bathroom was spotless and spacious. We had the buffet breakfast the next morning; it was very good. All the staff we encountered was so polite and helpful. We'll definitely be back when visiting friends in the area!
