Worked here many years ago, but I finally had a chance to stay. It's a jewel in the hills of southern Indiana. Great rooms and service. The food venues I tried there were all great. The last night there had a great conversation with Joe, a bartender in the Power Plant. Will definitely return.

Because of Covid we hadn't traveled in 9 months. Decided to go to French Lick for 3 nights during the week. We have been to the Springs before. Nice room, comfortable beds. Did not service room during our stay which we were advised on check in and it was OK with us. Not may staying at the resort. Only negative was the lack of dining in the resort. It was the steak house or the Power Plant (burgers). So we ate locally.

Starting with the positives, this is a stunning historical property that everyone should experience once. We did a girls' one-night, turned two, getaway to explore a property none of us had visited for over twenty years. The indoor and outdoor heated pool facilities are extraordinary and our room was very spacious, as was the bathroom which was the size of a small room itself (#1508). The fact that they welcome pets is wonderful, but has its downsides as noted below. Unfortunately, like many older historic properties there is a feeling of darkness and lack of updates. That we can handle. Our first major problem came with the fellow clientele the property attracts. Our one night of the stay, we visibly waited for 1 hour, 40 minutes for two loud, smoking (against policy), drunk couples to abandon the hot tub for our use. We informed security of smoking and they were spoken to but started up again within five minutes. We finally gave up. Although the couples could see we were lingering and checking, their rudeness hoarded the hot tub for far too long. There clearly needs to be a sign AND someone attending the area to make sure guests have a fair turn. Our second major problem was dog poop in our room - little, still soft balls. In all fairness, the carpet is very patterned and the small black turds blended with the carpet. But my friend's first squish of poop between the toes was just disgusting. We also later found a hair clip on the floor so it is obvious the carpet was not cleaned. Kudos the director of the hotel as he offered a second consecutive free night to use based on the hot tub experience, which we did not proactively complain about but it came up in a coffee line conversation between him and my friend. We reported the dog poop, were offered cleaning and /or switching rooms, but nothing further. Of course we had cleaned it up long before. The steakhouse is overpriced for the level of service and quality of non-steak food, although the steaks looked marvelous and got many compliments from my three friends. Again, everyone should experience this once. Next time we will step up for the West Baden hotel (pricier) to avoid some of the issues faced at this hotel, however.

My husband and 3 small children traveled to French lick a couple of weeks ago. We had a lovely time. There is quite a bit to do for both adults and small children. We rented bikes (must bring your own helmet), played golf, swam, went hiking, explored, went bowling, had a great time. We stayed in the governors suite which was absolutely enormous and perfect for our family of 5. It had 2 very large bedrooms w king beds and attached baths, a very large foyer and a giant living room w it’s own bathroom. The bathrooms are in need of a total update and silly things Iike the trash cans need to be updated. Overall very nice accommodations. We loved having access to west Baden via a walk, bike ride or constant trolley service. The reason I cannot give this place a 5 star review, or even a 4 star review for that matter is solely because of the food. To say that the food is awful is an understatement. It’s actually much worse than awful. Now I wouldn’t call us total food snobs, however for us, part of a good hotel/resort experience is the food. We enjoy quality, fresh food and good wine. I didn’t see one single fresh item anywhere the entire time we were there except some wilted iceberg lettuce on a pathetic salad one day. The food is all deep fried and totally bland and tasteless. And don’t get me wrong- fried food can be awesome! But not the way it’s prepared here. If they clicks up their food game, this resort would be an absolute gem. But until then, I’m afraid we won’t be back.

We had another wonderful week, celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary at French Lick. To spite the covid 19 virus, we felt very safe. they took every precaution to keep all the guests safe. Our room was clean and comfortable. the service and staff were as always friendly and helpful. This was our 5th trip to French Lick, and we just never get enough. Anything you could want or need is right on site. Looking forward to next year.
