A work trip took me to this hotel. I found the room clean and pleasant but very basic. There was no tea or coffee facilities and the mini bar had been emptied due to covid measures. I had a double bed with only one pillow, I checked the wardrobe for another but it was empty. I went onto the balcony to see the worse view, such a shame when there is a beautiful view at the front of the hotel. The following day I noticed at breakfast time that the hotel was very quiet so I asked for a sea view as due to Covid I was only leaving my room to attend work meetings and was in my room for the rest of the time. I was told this would be at an additional cost, you would think this hotel would want to try and get customers to return in the future by simply giving them a great stay and to go that extra mile but they didn’t want to, even when the hotel was practically empty. The next morning I noticed the waiter wearing black gloves and a mask due to covid however he did not change the gloves once. He cleared plates and cutlery from a dirty table and then he cleaned it. He said I will get your food, he was gone a matter of seconds and brought my omelette out with the same gloves on. I had waited 34 minutes for the omelette since ordering and there was only two other individuals in the dining room so not busy. The omelette was cold as had clearly been left in the kitchen while the waiter cleared tables as a priority instead of getting hot food out! I continued to watch the waiter and his infection control awareness was far from basic so decided not to eat and left the dining room hungry. In the evening, nothing was open due to Athens being in a lockdown and I didn’t want to eat in the hotel so ended up going to the local supermarket and eating junk food. I feel this hotel could have looked after their minimal amount of customers a lot better than they did. I would not want to stay in this hotel at peak season if they can not get the basics right during a covid shutdown with hardly any guests. Such a shame as this hotel has lots of potential but it comes across that staff just can’t be bothered.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to write and post your review. First of all, we would like to thank you for your positive comments about our food, stay, view and room. It is with concern that we find out that you weren't fully satisfied with room, view and hotel. We apply the highest cleaning and disinfection standards, strictly following the protocols proposed by the National Public Health Organization and the World Health Organization. We emphasise areas such as the bathroom and on objects and surfaces of frequent contact such as telephone, remote control, handles, switches and safe. Therefore, we remove catalogues, magazines, notebooks, pens or decorative pillows in the room. Kettles have also been removed from the room. https://poseidonhotel.com.gr/covid19en/ However, if a guest asks for slippers in their room, extra pillow or anything that will make their stay more comfortable, we provide it. Your feedback is very much appreciated and has been communicated to the relevant departments. All your remarks are taken into consideration to improve our hotel. We wish you could give us another chance to win you back. With Best Regards, Petros Theodoropoulos General Manager Poseidon Athens Hotel

My daughter and I visited during the October half term school holidays, staff were very friendly and accommodating, room was clean and comfortable. Location perfect especially with the tram stop right by the hotel, it was really cheap to travel via tram, a day ticket is 4EUR We didn't try out the roof top pool as we preferred the beach but it looked nice and clean and the views were great....we'd definitely come back

I‘d encourage everyone to choose this hotel over any hotel in the city centre. Even though there’s a port closeby the sea is absolutely beautiful and clean. The Hotel doesn’t look to posh from the outside but is really nicely decorated on the inside. The staff is very accommodating and helpful with every wish you have. The rooftop bar is absolutely stunning as well as you can perfectly see the sunset from there. The pool was alright but nothing special. The food served at the bar and on the restaurant was always fresh and tasted great, they even serve it at the beach bar. The only downside is that the lights that light up the hotel front will shine into your room throughout the night - and the bathroom isn’t really seperated, only by a glass window so you could literally watch the other one take a dump

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights in a sea view room on the 4th floor. The view was amazing but with the hotel on a 6 lane highway we didn’t use the balcony due to the noise. However the traffic noise can not be heard in the room so don’t let this stop you booking this hotel. We walked into Athen city centre one day and took the team another. We also caught the express bus to the hotel on our departure. It cost £5 each and took about 40mins from directly outside the hotel. Very easy. Roof top pool was great and beach was wonderful. It was warm enough to swim in both and we were able to get sun beds at each location without a wait. Happy to recommend.
