I think 2.5 stars is more reasonable than 2 stars. The place is “meh”. It isn’t maintained well. There are spiderwebs everywhere outside. It is understaffed. One of the two restaurants was closed (the week of July 4th) other than for breakfast - but the kitchen was the same (same menu) so it wouldn’t have mattered much. The food at the restaurant for lunch and dinner was decent. Nothing special but edible. Breakfast is another story - it is quite bad…there is no effort made…..none. I would highly recommend leaving the property and eating at the “Sahm” at eagle point golf club - a 5 minute drive. Great atmosphere and menu, they have a large covered patio with fans and games for kids. The rooms were dated but clean. There was no maid service for our block of 8 rooms even though we stayed here 5 days / 4 nights (so a total of 32 nights for our group). When we asked for a room cleaning the staff responded that they were really busy and couldn’t do it….I know it is more difficult to find people to clean rooms every day, but that is unacceptable. When we asked for fresh towels we had to bring the dirty towels to the front desk to change them out. On the positive side, the staff was pleasant and the firework show on the 4th was well executed. I think this place continues to do ok because there is no competition on the lake.…
I had a wonderful time!!! Checking in was pretty easy and the Staff were courteous. I enjoyed their dining area and Carri was really nice. Definitely an asset to the Hotel. I also Love that the swimming pool is indoors and heated. We stayed longer than anticipated and we were allowed to check out later than we expected. And what about the view. Wow 😍!!! The boats and scenery add a lot to the experience. Overall, it's definitely a good place to stay. Big Thumb 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿.
Fourwinds Lakeside Inn and Marina *Family of six, 2 parents, 4 boys *June 30- July 3, 2022 *One king suite with connecting room, three rooms total. (#325 and #323) ***Pros: *Set in the woods, beautiful scenery, lovely Lake Monroe *Suite, bedroom, bathroom were clean, no bugs, no odors. Nice big tub. *Marina looked kept up, new decking, helpful pleasant staff (Ben, Zack, Adam) *Paradise Boat Rentals (onsite) was great! We loved our pontoon and jet ski for the day. *Ducks swam in the koi pond and came up to us in the yard. Kids loved feeding them. *Large balcony with table and chairs, view of the lake and big Oak Tree full of animals. Watched two Barn Swallows feed their nestlings in the corner of our balcony every night. *Bed was very comfortable. B-bug free. Air conditioners worked really well. *When our son called to report that the toilet in their bathroom continued to run the maintenance man came immediately and was nice and efficient. *Kitchenette was clean with full size microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove. Nice countertops. (Kroger 10 minutes away.) *Three large TVs worked great ***Cons: (see photos) *Lobby and furniture were shop worn. Plants dying in their pots, unwatered. Offered to water all the plants but Sarah said they didn't have a bucket. * Staff was pleasant but somewhat unhelpful, focused mostly on teasing each other. *Beach had debris and is very close to the marina so swimmers and boats share the same water. There is no guide or divider. *There were only 9 beach chairs on the beach so get there early and save one. *Yesterday a woman at the beach yelled the F word in front of children. (Gave a seedy feel to the place.) One family left. *Weeds are taking over the perimeter of the beach and the stairs are in disrepair. *The three wooden umbrella stands are without their umbrellas so provide no shade. Old nails protruding where fabric used to be. *When he dressed his bed my son discovered black mold under the pull-out couch mattress that remained damp and clinging to the mesh support. We called the front desk and the attendant apologized but said she couldn't swap out the couch or mattress because they had no extras. She brought us bleach spray from housekeeping and took a photo. Said Jessica would address the issue in the morning. I cleaned the mattress and mesh covering but Cooper slept on a bleachy smelling bed for three nights. Jessica never came and wasn't available when I went to speak with her. *The room safe was permanently locked so tried to hide our valuables in other places. *WiFi was sketchy. Had to find just the right spot on our room to use it. *Balcony and outdoor furniture were quite dirty. Washed it all before we used it. *Koi pond was beautifully constructed but has discarded bottles, trash and a dead baby duck floating in it. *The pool also is uniquely constructed with an indoor/outdoor layout and decorative faux rocks... a nod to south central Indiana's stone belt. The waterfall beside the pool deck is also attractive but full of floating brown moss, bebris, and weeds. *Last night two male workers sat on the brick patio amongst the guests, smoking and laughing. I asked them if they had a bucket I could use to water the plants. They, too, said "no... someone's hired to do that, lady." The plants were still bonedry today. Trying to be factual and fair in this review with pros and cons... but I really don't understand why the owner of this beautiful property would neglect it nor tolerate the general indolence of the staff. I gave Fourwinds a B+ simply because it felt safe and we had a good time. With more attention to upkeep and public relations training for the staff I think it could be an A venue.…
We landed here at 1am unexpectedly. And what a nice welcome we received and what a lovely area. Needless to say we were exhausted from driving, were overbooked at an IU campus hotel, never contacted and never compensated. It was the most ridiculous travel experience we’ve ever had. We did want to be closer to IU campus for what we had as an agenda on this trip, however I’d never hesitate to stay here in the future. Nor should you!
Craig & Phoenix were spectacular during our lunch at the Windjammer Grill. The facility was very clean, and the food was awesome! We will definitely be coming back in the future. I highly recommend stopping by if you are looking for a place with fresh food and friendly staff.
The extra taxes that get heaped on other places you don't get here, and the rooms are comfortable and reasonable. Would br an amazing place if you were using the lake (which we weren't, we just needed a comfortable place close to Bloomington).
We love this property but people smoke on the balconies and in front of the doorways therefore you are constantly having to deal with the stench of smoke. The rules clearly state you are not to smoke on your balcony but the rule is not enforced. The food is not good. Breakfast may or may not be available. You are better off eating lunch or dinner at the restaurant at the Eagle Point Golf Course which is nearby. The property and grounds are very well maintained.
Ive been staying at this hotel for the last 2 weeks, due to work, and the service has been stellar to say the least. From the front desk, the bar, and housekeeping the staff here definitely knows how to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Destiny, in the bar, was very professional, funny, and respectful with all her customers even when it was crazy busy and she was the only one behind the bar. Give that girl a promotion! Thank you Fourwinds! Im definitely recommending you!
Adrienne was amazing as well as food quality and portion sizes. We will be back. There was always someone available to back up our server, drinks were never empty and Adrienne was so fun and ok top of everything!
Decided to try a new place for IU grad weekend. We are so happy we did! Do not worry about the resort being located outside of town. The drive was a quick 20 minutes south of Bloomington, and the scenic drive is easy!. The resort was a welcome break at the end of each day from the commotion and crowds. Enjoyed our large waterfront balcony every single morning and evening of our 3 night stay. Housekeeping was extremely helpful and the grounds were beautiful. Enjoyed coffee in the lobby each morning. Breakfast is also available. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Bloomington in the future!
