With all the coronavirus (COVID-19)going around and everything being cancelled I called to see if they would cancel my reservation was told no sorry ! .Tiffany did offer to move my reservation to another date but with the Pandemic in progress that wasn't feasible. I hope they do a deep cleaning one of our visitors works in the healthcare industry. She possibly has been exposed to the virus, she used the restroom and sat on the furniture. I'm really sorry about that. But we weren't going to just let $100.00 be wasted so we went.
This is a very quirky place. Several rooms up a steep stairs. Coded doors and a general lounge area. No ice machine, a very dirty microwave and a coffee pot. Parking is behind the building in a garbage strewn alley. I would think twice about this place. Yes, it is very convenient for walking around downtown, but wow, not really a comfortable place for the price.
My daughter and I needed a place to stay for one night while visiting University of Indiana and although the Walnut Street Inn was a bit or a random choice, it turned out to be a gem - unexpectedly spacious and a charming room (we had the Walnut room) in an unexpectedly (again) great location i.e. right on the square. We had a kitchen attached to our room which had coffee and a selection of locally-produced tea, which was a nice touch, as well as a refrigerator. In terms of sleep quality, although the room is on the square we both slept well, though in the morning we noticed that there is a "white noise" device in case of lively Saturday nights outside (again a thoughtful touch). Parking is behind the inn and there are numerous restaurants and coffee shops around so all is super-convenient.…
I stayed in the Pine Room. And, the room was huge!! Super convenient location for visiting campus and downtown Bloomington. When I first arrived, I was concerned about the noise from the square; however, a white noise machine is provided which made for a great night's sleep!! Things I loved about this hotel: FREE parking in the alley behind the building. HUGE room overlooking the square. Close to Sample Gates. Things I did not like about this hotel: It was tricky to find the parking at first, but did I mention that it's free?
A great stay! Reservations were easy to make and I had no issues accessing the building (no one is on site and you access with a code provided with your confirmation). Perfectly located downtown. Stayed in the Walnut room which was very spacious and comfortable. It actually overlooks 6th St so we experienced no noise issues at all. The room had all of the amenities we needed. And the public room with the bar area, large kitchen and washer/dryer would be perfect for longer stays or larger groups. Parking was located behind the building and its nice to have that included when you are downtown. I will definitely return the next time I am in Bloomington.
