The hotel itself is fine but rooms are in bad shape. We checked in around mid night and had to change the rooms twice because both rooms had black stuff in the bathtub. We finally were upgraded and given a free coffee to make up for the issues. But even that room had bad shower. It made a loud noise anytime shower was turned on in our room or the rooms in the vicinity. They offer peloton bike in the gym but the bike is in bad shape. Seat falls, handle loose and screen has a lag.
A Westin is a Westin, right? And I can always count on The Westin Chicago North Shore to meet or exceed brand standards. Now, if health and wellness are at the top of your travel criteria, The Westin Chicago North Shore is the example of how this must be done. Hotel associates from the top down – General Manager Tim Ohrn and Front Office Manager Charlie Lowry – are truly caring and concerned, both toward guests and one another. Cleanliness, sanitation and physical distancing protocols are in place and practiced. All without sacrificing what we’ve come to expect from the Westin brand.
I was quite disappointed in the Westin, having previously stayed in the Hyatt which is fairly close. Rooms were ok, but the aircon was noisy and the carpet and decor a bit tired. The bathroom was quite small, and the over shower bath wasn't great, for heat or wetness! Check in was really poor, with no welcome, overview of facilities, to the point I even had to ask where the rooms were... Breakfast is really limited in choice, no cereals!!!! I'm here because I have to be, I think I'll book elsewhere next time.
The Westin stands out as a beautiful mid rise hotel in this suburban area. It has a good lobby and large conference and ball room spaces. But - the rooms are just not that great. Every time I stay here there’s a problem with the room. This time the toilet stopped working. Last time the electricity in the room went off. The hotel is always busy so it seems to take a lot of wear and needs more maintenance.
I stayed in this hotel at least 15 times in the past months due to work location. It’s in the middle of nowhere but at least the restaurant next door is good. Expensive for the location and last time had a package fee of $5 for having amazon delivery. Biggest issue is their security. Last time I had someone walk into my room at 5am. Upon yelling the person left. I told the reception about it on checkout a few hours later and the only thing I got was ‘yeah heard about that, sorry’. Emailed Marriott about it too without response and after another follow up, and got an email weeks later with ‘won’t happen again’. Very reassuring. Avoiding the hotel now.
