Perfect way to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. Our Aunt and Uncle (now 90) visited here 30 years ago and strongly recommended since they knew our love of nature and desire to visit Alaska. The legacy and hospitality are being carried on by the next generation. The guides are awesome and very knowledgeable. The food was fresh and prepared to perfection. So many different activities you could chose to do or not do. Also highly recommend the hot stone massage! Thank you for the wonderful memories.

We were privileged to stay a KBWL with a group of friends. There aren't enough superlatives. Shannon and Morgan, who've taken over from founding parents Diane and Mike, have assembled a team and created a place that's, in our experience, unique for the service and adventure experience. The most common question we got from the staff was "what can I do for you?" Almost nothing was out of the question. The food is lovely, courtesy of chefs Mindy and Steve. The activities, ranging from easy to strenuous hikes, fishing, kayaking, tide-pool walks, met all out requirements: outdoors, educational and exercise. The staff, and I hope I'm not leaving anyone out - Parker, Lili, Davie, Daniel, Lindsay, Maya, Sabina and Frenchy, mostly local Homerites, clearly love what they do and are passionate about sharing their love and knowledge. I wish I could better convey how memorable this place is, but you'll just have to go there and see for yourselves. And give Buddy and Sitka a scratch for us.

Our family of 5 spent five nights here. We loved all the people (staff & owners). The cookie jar never went empty despite our family's attempt to drain it daily! Our 3 daughters ages 14, 12, and 10 really fell in love with & looked up to the staff. We loved the remote location and learning so much about Alaska & nature. Favorites were the glacier hike and the kayaking to a beach where the girls dipped in the freezing waters and we bird watched and saw the puffins. We also enjoyed tide pooling and learning about the ocean creatures. The food was really good and the general feel of the lodge is charming with flowers, log cabins, plaid table cloths etc. There was always outdoor adventures, sauna/hot tubbing, or games in the lodge we could do as a family. This was certainly a top trip for our family. Before we arrived we went on a bear tour the lodge recommended, which was fabulous. The staff helped with planning and did so much to make sure we had the best vacation.

We really enjoyed the lodge and all of the staff made our stay a joy. They worked hard to insure that we had an amazing stay and catered to our needs and requests. The various excursions were based on our expertise. I'd never kayaked but we were able to and it was amazing. Our guide, Kim, was in an adjacent kayak and clearly explained what we should do. It was a blast! We went on several guided hikes and boat rides and saw so many eagles, seals, otters, other various birds and more. Tidepooling with Lily was great - she was so enthusiastic and excited about what she discovered under each rock. The food was always excellent. The morning stretch was a wonderful wakeup and the sauna and jacuzzi were welcome at the end of the day.

I cannot say enough about this magical place. First off, the location is absolutely pristine with views of China Poot Bay and the surrounding mountain ranges. The cabins are rustic and cozy, very well appointed. The staff is the real star here; the guides are well trained and knowledgeable about the nature and history that surrounds this place. They sit with you each day to plan out your activities for the next day. The food was 5 star packed with local ingredients. I cannot think of a better way we could have spent our 40th anniversary. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel special.
