My family and I have been staying at the Patchwork Inn off and on for years since I was a young kid. This has been my first time back as an adult after many years of being away from Oregon and seeing family. Comfortable beds, AMAZING clientele service, Breakfast that'll knock your socks off and in the center of this historic little town makes the Inn the perfect place to stay. The basement was renovated into a lounging area with movies and board games, along with pictures of the Inn's almost 200 year old past! The outdoors in the back has been renovated for a perfeect chill day with even a grill and seating! How to rate my stay at Patchwork? 10/10
My husband and I are locals, but we spend an occasional overnight stay at the Patchwork Inn to enjoy a relaxing evening and reconnect with our small town. The historic inn is an interesting visit with its own stories to tell, but hosts Bill and Stephanie make the stay memorable. They are welcoming, kind people who know how to make everyone feel at home. Breakfasts are always fabulous with homemade breads and home smoked meats rounding out the main dish. There are individual tables in the dining area if privacy is desired, but we've always met and chatted with the most interesting guests during our stays. Highly recommend this inn to anyone coming to the area.
We senior citizens (age 80+) found Patchwork website looking for a place to stay in NW Illinois that didn't have too much area corona virus. Everything at Patchwork suggests quality and attention to detail. Breakfast is equal to what you'd expect in a big city hotel. Renovated historical building is expertly designed to offer guests a memorable experience. The Nelsons are wonderful hosts. Worth driving a few miles off I-39. We have already booked another overnight on our way to visit family in St. Paul, MN.
As frequent travelers, we usually stay in upper mid-range hotels, but due to Covid19 we decided to stay at a smaller place with less people and we are so glad we did. This was one of the best overnight stay experiences we have ever had. We stayed Room 4, known as the "Lincoln Room", which is one of the 2 rooms on the 2nd floor that have exclusive use of the upper balcony. The accommodations exceeded our expectations with all of the modern conveniences expected while staying true to the historic ambiance with antique furnishings. The owner's live on-site and are readily available. Stephanie gave us a tour of the Inn and shared it's history. She also prepared a home made breakfast for us that was outstanding! We will definitely be back.
My boyfriend and I stayed one night at the Patchwork Inn and I can say for sure that we will be back. The building is beautiful and full of history. They preserved as much of the original woodwork and they could during renovations, which is a nice touch. Stephanie and Bill clearly put everything they have into making sure you have a comfortable stay. They are such kind people and great cooks too! They provided us with the most fabulous breakfast we've had in a long time. Fresh baked cookies waited for us in our room, and they provided board games, movies, and a fridge full of drinks. Thank you Stephanie and Bill for a wonderful stay!
