We spent 2 nights at the Andean Spirit Lodge. Oda and Armando treated us like family !! The lodge is nestled in a hillside and you get a great view of the snow peaked mountain. It's a peaceful place and Oda has a wide variety of fruits growing in her garden including cherimoya !! Vegan meals were delicious and consisted of vegetables right from Oda's garden, Great place to stay especially if you want to go see the Condors. Highly recommend a stay at the Andean Spirit Lodge if you want to experience the non-touristy side of Peru.
Andean Spirit Lodge was recommended as one of the few places one can find Buff-fronted Owl, and on that we weren't disappointed – we spotted one high in a tree after only 15 minutes of searching. Koepcke's Screech-Owls were also on the grounds and even more vocal and easier to see. During the day countless White-tipped Doves wander the garden in plain sight, and the all-day bird song (in Feburary) was delightful. There are many places one can sit in the woodsy garden and grounds and enjoy the peace. The rooms were nice and quiet, (though the second bed was only a mattress on the floor). The food was by far the best we had in a month of traveling in Peru, especially the homemade bread from sour dough starter.
This place is a gem. Nestled in lush rolling hills outside Cuzco, it envelops you in its warm, comforting embrace. Armando, the chef, prepares vegan dishes that would not be out of place in a 5-star London or New York restaurant. Friendly dogs follow you around the avocado plantation, and cats are waiting to ignore you when you return to the lodge for a lie-down in a hammock with a beer or glass of wine. It was the perfect end to an amazing two-week trip with Oda and her team.
This was my second stay at Andean Spirit Lodge, and I know it will not be the last. The grounds are so lovely, designed for contemplative pursuit, with paths winding up and along the hillsides that are covered in blooming flowers and trees. There are areas designed to sit and meditate, reflect or simply take in all the beauty of nature. There are many birds on the property, including a screech owl. The bungalows have very comfortable beds with nice linens, spacious bathrooms and lovely views overlooking the gardens. We spent 5 nights including Christmas at Andean Spirit Lodge, and it was a beautiful stress free holiday. Excellent food, so beautifully prepared and presented, followed by relaxing evenings visiting or reading in front of the fire in the Lodge. Oda and Armando's warm hospitality is really outstanding; so genuine and generous.…
The Andean Spirit Lodge is a very nice and peaceful place to stay. A very nice garden with lots of plants and trees. The cabins were quiet, nice. The vegetarian food as well as the coffee was excellent. Very friendly and interesting hosts to visit.
The Andean Spirit Lodge is a great place to stay, hidden away in a beautiful valley well off the main road, so very peaceful. Lots of nice forest all around with plenty of birds, very comfortable en-suite cabins, great vegetarian food, and very friendly hosts in Oda and Armando.
Super sweet bungalow - very cozy and private, enjoyed a good night's sleep in a peaceful beautiful and serene location. Loved exploring the gardens and especially seeing a coffee bean plant in real life!! The bungalow was perfect for one but I could imagine sharing it with friends using the upstairs loft sleeping area. The meals were beautifully presented and so delicious and healthy. Relaxing by the fireplace with Peruvian wine in the main lodge was a real treat. I definitely plan to come back someday - no better place to reflect, rest and recuperate. Highly recommend!
Oda and Armando know a great deal about Peru and are happy to share. Their vegetarian, lifestyle and spiritual awareness are instructive for a harried traveler. Their guests are their first concern, and Oda insisted that we visit her clinic in town to see about altitude sickness. The main house is open to guests, and the cabinas are clean, roomy and comfortable with a great shower. Beautiful grounds and trails, and Peg got to practice yoga in their dedicated building. A very comforting and relaxing place.
What a serene and special haven we found at Andean Spirit Lodge! The four cozy bungalows accommodate up to five guests each, and are comfortable and clean. Just outside, one steps into the organic garden--source of the delicious home-cooked meals--and can continue on a meandering, tree-shaded path around the grounds. Hummingbirds abound at the feeders, and a flock of parrots provides a flash of green while moving from tree to tree. A wonderful experience!
A super place to relax in peace and quiet surrounded by nature. Oda and Armando have created a beautiful lodge in the mountains where they make their guests feel very welcome and at home. The vegetarian food that chef Artamio produced at meal times was fantastic, most of which was home grown in the large gardens. I didn't miss meat at all! We also, always had a great picnic for lunch on our days out visiting the local attractions. Our room was nice and comfortable with private bathroom. In the main lodge there was plenty of places to relax, lounge seats and a few hammocks. It's a good location to go out into the mountains up the twisty, winding roads for some incredible views driven by Marco who made us all feel safe and took us to the Apurimac canyon, to the hot springs for a dip and a visit to the condor view point at Chunta where we hiked up and rode back down on horses. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at the lodge.…
