We enjoyed a splendid lunch in the Dumfries Arms having french onion soup and goat’s cheese with mediterranean salad for starters. As a main my wife chose seafood penne pasta with garlic bread and was well pleased. It was generously filled and had just enough smoked fish to give that glorious cullen skinky flavour to the sauce. I tried their... More

Bought an itison deal for £69 This included 2 course dinner full English breakfast and a bottle of proseco. We decided to upgrade to the lennox suite..absolutely massive and immaculate. We had haggis Neeps and tatties for a starter and I can honestly say it's the best starter we've ever had, we then both went for the steak pie..once again... More

Staff were very welcoming upon arrival. Rooms were very spacious and clean with tea, coffee and a nice wee biscuit. Meals were of a very high standard at a reasonable price. Recommend the haggis neeps and tatties with pepper sauce for a starter. Would definately go back

Had an overnight stay with a voucher and was well worth money, once we where moved rooms. We arrived after 3 but room was not ready, think it was because a wedding was going on, this was no inconvenience as we just had a drink in the lovely lounge. We where allocated room 19 which was very noisy as stated... More

Visited the Dumfries arms for a meal (not as overnight guests, though would love to stay over – the hotel looks beautiful). We arrived mid/late afternoon (in between lunch/dinner) thus it was quiet in the restaurant. In spite of that, the atmosphere felt very welcoming (loved the décor). Service was excellent – the restaurant manager chatted warmly to us, making... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Fully renovated in 2011 the Dumfries Arms is a contemporary, stylish boutique Hotel with 26 stunning guest rooms, stylish restaurant and function facilities that ensure its place as one of Ayrshire's largest and most stunning wedding and events venues. Rich in history, The Dumfries Arms Hotel has stood at the heart of the ancient burgh of Cumnock, Ayrshire since the early 18th century and even predates nearby Dumfries House, saved for the nation by HRH The Prince of Wales and now one of the nation's most stunning heritage attractions. Over its 300 year history the hotel's guests have included some colourful and well known characters including our national bard, Robert Burns and Sir Walter Scott, who made reference to his stay in Old Cumnock..."Where beds are as hard as a plank, sir". Much has changed since! However, as an important part of our heritage, due homage has been accorded with these historic words being embroidered on soft furnishings within our guest rooms. We should add that our beds are magnificently comfortable! We look forward to welcoming you to one of Scotland's newest, privately owned boutique hotels whether as a resident, diner, or to view our stunning function facilities if you are planning a very special event. A warm welcome is guaranteed. ... more   less
