This is an old style hotel with good atmosphere. Service was good. Rooms were pleasant. The rooms are large but well appointed and clean. It is close to eateries, shops, and lots of things to see. Downtown Chicago is 30 minutes or so without traffic.

We just stayed 3 nights at the Carleton MOTEL next door to the hotel. We choose the Carleton due to it's very affordable price. The motel is a group of rooms with kitchenettes (microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot) and recently remodeled in a 1950's theme. Our room was fantastic! The room was very clean and quiet and had plenty of room...

I needed a one-night pause in the Oak Park area and found a true gem in the Carleton's "motel" option, which is a relatively affordable choice in this area. My 1950s redux room was SWEET: fresh, cute, clean, comfy, and more. Free parking plus, it's situated in the middle of some of Oak Park's greatest happening spots. I'd do the...

We came to Chicago to see a concert at the United Center. We wanted to stay near the downtown, but didn't want to pay downtown prices. The Carleton of Oak Park was the best of both worlds. A 3 minute walk plus a 30 minute $3 train ride brought us right to the heart of the city. The hotel had...

The Carelton is a beautiful, quiet, and well-managed hotel. We stayed in a King Deluxe room and were surprised by how spacious and well appointed it was. The bed was above average in comfort. The room was very clean- including the bathroom. Room 207 included a small kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and even some well cleaned dishes. Microwave was...

If you are staying in Oak Park this hotel is gorgeous! The rooms are very spacious, clean, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. There are 2 bars attached to the hotel that serve food and many places within walking distance. Frank Lloyd Wright tour area is close by. Well worth the time to visit.

We had the pleasure to stay at this historic hotel, it was beautiful and clean and comfortable! The only draw back for us was the free internet was extremely slow!! And the man at the front desk during the early morning /day really was not someone I would choose to welcome guests. it wasn't that he was rude...just not friendly....

Nice Staff, Comfortable Spacious Rooms, Quiet, Nicely Located Hotel . Close to metro, shopping--Reasonable breakfast and Good Local Beers. Rooms include comfortable chairs, a desk, a separate kitchette with decent complimentary coffee, a closet with ironing board, nice toiletries, but these were difficult to dispense in that the plastic bottles were very hard to press!

What a great way to stay in/near Chicago and visit a multiplicity of Frank Lloyd Wright properties and still be in downtown Chicago in thirty minutes via the Green Line. The Carlton is a well-cared for, older hotel in Oak Park, just nine miles west of the heart of Chicago. The Carlton's staff is helpful and very attentive to personal...
