Detailed Reviews
My husband and I had the loveliest stay at Harvey House. Besides the gorgeous and immaculate room, delicious breakfast, and elegant decor throughout the entire house, the owner Beth was so detail oriented and hospitable. I am recommending this B&B to everyone! The day of our visit, Beth called to find out if I wanted the chocolate covered strawberries (since I added the romance package) or had any other preferences. When I told her my husband loves chocolate covered cherries, she made sure to find some of those for him. So sweet! Thank you Beth for a lovely stay. One night was NOT enough!

The Harvey House B&B is simply lovely. Every square inch has been carefully restored. Not one scratch, nick, stain or tear. Everything in the entire inn was in perfect order. Our room, the Jimmy Stewart Room, was actually a suite - so spacious, so well decorated with the finest linens and appointments. The bed was so comfortable and devine. We ended up spending more time enjoying our room than we ever have before.
Plus, the common area is beautiful; the dining table is huge, elegant. The living room has comfortable and stylish couches and chairs, pretty cafe tables, beautiful decor. The kitchen is as if you were in your own very well designed and beautiful kitchen.
We visited during the pandemic, so the hostess, Beth, was unable to prepare a full breakfast (but, based on the rest of her establishment, I'll bet it would have been fabulous). She did provide us with fine "grab & go" breakfasts - home baked muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, excellent coffee, fresh fruit.
Also, the Harvey House is within quick walking distance to the main downtown restaurants and shops. We walked to dinner and lunch three different times, and it was fun and easy.
I would stay here gain and again, and heartily recommend Harvey House B&B.

We were in Chicagoland to visit family in Elmhurst, where the housing options aren't great... either large convention hotels or depressing chains. Oak Park is 20-min. drive from there, and about the same travel time to the city via the El or Metra trains. And it's a pretty, historic area to stay. Harvey House is at a convenient location: it's near the train stations and about a 10-min walk to the shops & restaurants of Oak Park. A very comfortable, clean, and well-furnished room. The breakfast was great and there's a nice area to eat inside or out. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay, Beth!

We had such a lovely second visit at the Harvey House! Beth is so kind and accommodating, and her eye for style and interior decorating is just the top! The inn is absolutely gorgeous. It is quiet and peaceful, and the rooms have all the little amenities and details you could want. There is a lovely breakfast every morning, and Beth even made sure we had some special foods to accommodate our allergies. If you are a fan of softer mattresses, go for the Jimmy Stewart suite, if you like a firmer mattress go for the Chalet or the Golden Chest. The Jimmy Stewart is our favorite, but all of the rooms are beautiful! We loved this place so much we named one of our pet rabbits Harvey :)

We travel quite a bit. Our son booked this quaint, well kept place for us to stay and I admit it is among the best places we have stayed around the world.
We stayed in the Jimmy Stewart and would recommend this to anyone staying in / near Chicago. We took morning walks to the charming village, stopped at the local Farmer’s Market, enjoyed a little street festival one evening and had some fantastic food and shopping experiences all without leaving Oak Park!
The back yard, at Beth’s direction, is now a beautiful oasis to relax after a long day and every detail throughout the house and property was meticulously thought out.
To say it’s clean is an understatement and I am a stickler for clean. (Without clean , there is no relaxing) It is easy to recommend staying here to everyone I know because I can vouch for an environment where your comfort is of utmost importance to Beth and her staff! (~John and Patti)

We had a wonderful experience! This place is absolutely fantastic. It's so well designed, Beth is kind and friendly, but also gives you your privacy. The house is so incredibly charming, and each little detail is anticipated. We stayed in the Jimmy Stewart suite, and from the towel warmers to the lovely bed linens, every inch of the room was relaxing and comfortable. We will definitely be staying here anytime we come to Chicago or Oak Park.

The Harvey House is one of the best Bed & Breakfast stays I have ever experienced. Attention to detail throughout the house, tastefully furnished. The most amazing breakfast. Beth, owner and innkeeper, is kind and the most gracious and perfect host I have ever met. Early morning Breakfast at 7.00 am was the same as our late morning breakfast, just amazing and perfect! The rooms are charming, comfortable, and a bit luxurious with bathtubs and a fireplace what more can you ask for!
The living area kitchen etc is open and welcoming to all to use. Fire place always going with soft music and you can have from coffee to hot chocolate ! Oak Park such a lovely peaceful town, just loved it. Close to the metro and not far out of the city. Lovely restaurants close by.
Beth I cant wait to be back!

Harvey house bed-and-breakfast was the Best place I've been to for staycation in a while!! Beth was super sweet very attentive and quickly responded to anything I needed during my stay. The Jimmy Stewart suite is super gorgeous amazing Decour and feels so luxurious. Since it's Covid time there is grab and go Breakfast but Beth does heat everything up and she actually makes great quality espressos or lattes for you in fancy little mugs! Again, I honestly couldn't have asked for more the jet tubs are also so nice. My first night after taking a shower I did run water for the tub and the first large bit of it was hot after that the hot water did run out a bit but the rest of my stay the hot water was on and working great! Do not walk run to this place because it's definitely amazing I'm already figuring out my next stay for even longer worth every penny!!!

We had the pleasure of staying at Harvey House over Christmas this year. It was our first time there, and we would return again. The location is ideal to town for eateries, shopping and commute into the city. Our room was very clean, quiet (you can hear the El train though not loudly) and well stocked. We did not eat breakfast since we were in town to be with family, but it looked as if Beth offers lots of options- continental items and one warm egg dish usually. She has a Jura coffee maker, which guests cannot use. She’s usually available by 8am to make it, and there are pod options when she is not there. For the value, it is a bit pricier, but inn & hotel options in Oak Park are limited. Beth is extremely gracious and though we did not need local recommendations, I’m sure she would be most resourceful. Our only issue was that the room was not holding temp and she was waiting on a repairmen, but she had provided a portable heater until she could get him out over the holiday.

Beth is doing her best to navigate the Covid-19 problems and new rules/regulations that B&B's have to follow now. The room was clean, bathroom has been nicely updated. The patio and sitting areas are comfy and nicely furnished. Plenty of Chicago books and information throughout the house. The breakfasts were wonderful and the Harvey House discount at restaurants in the area was welcomed.
Farmers market right outside on Sat. mornings. You can walk to the downtown Oak Park area with the restaurants and other shops
