Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa Maldives is an exclusive all-suite resort for those who demand genuine luxury and expect only the best. Space and privacy is a hallmark at Hideaway which has some of the largest beachfront villas in the Maldives. Opened in 2005, and widely updated in a US$50m renovation in 2014, Hideaway has 103 extremely spacious villas, all (except seven Sunset Beach Villas) with their own private pool or Jacuzzi. The 57 contemporary style over-water villas stand on stilts over the lagoon while the 46 beachfront villas have a timeless, classic Maldives feel, each with its own private beach and hidden away among lush tropical gardens for complete privacy. Hideaway’s island host (butler) service is near legendary, ensuring that a dream vacation with exemplary service is a reality. Famous for its outstanding double coral reef that brings a vibrant underwater world to just a few meters from its shores, Hideaway is a tropical paradise of long stretches of soft white sand beaches and a warm, crystal-clear turquoise lagoon. Only a 75-minute seaplane flight from the capital city, Male, Hideaway is also easily reached by more exclusive transport: its marina offers a berth for yacht owners while those arriving by private jet can land at Hanimaadhoo International Airport (HAQ), which is an easy 25-minute speedboat journey from Hideaway. Four restaurants and bars offer a world of fine dining including an excellent wine collection, and where the resort really stands out is in its tailor-made dining experiences. The spa is a true wellness haven with 12 private treatment suites, steam room and hair salon set in manicured gardens. For those who love to be active, two outdoor pools, the recreation centre with its gym, two tennis courts, beach volleyball court, as well as extensive watersports, fishing, diving and a range of excursions ensures there’s always something new to explore. Luxury travelers can expect more activities to come soon. A tennis academy by Nikolay Davydenko will open in November 2015. The Russian professional tennis player, who achieved a singles world ranking of 3, and his team will offer coaching clinics for all levels, from absolute beginner to professionals. Also opened in November 2015 is an over-water aqua park of floats, slides, water trampolines which is complimentary to all guests.

My wife and I had not visited the Maldives for 20 years. This time, we were returning with our 17 year old son so were looking for an island with lots of activities and facilities. After extensive research (!) and a lot of assistance from the very helpful and patient Prem in the reservations team, we booked our holiday to Hideaway. This magical island certainly did not disappoint, we all had a truly memorable holiday. Putting aside the natural beauty, all of the staff are so welcoming and friendly, we immediately felt at home. Our butler Jokey had a wonderful calmness and incredible knowledge of the island and surrounding waters. He was so helpful and genuinely felt like a friend. Amin does an incredible job at running the sports centre and alongside coach Thomas, rekindled my son’s love of tennis (under the watchful eye of giant bats hanging from the surrounding tropical trees !) Sri Lankan golf pro Nathan achieved the impossible, improving my golf in a state of the art golf simulator. At the watersports centre, Azim enthusiastically taught our son to windsurf and gave top wake boarding tips in the beautiful turquoise lagoon whilst Asim was so friendly and helpful, advising on conditions and which activity would suit us best on any given day. On the other side of the island, conveniently sited next to Meeru bar, is an excellent house reef full of marine life and even graced by an elegant Manta Ray alongside baby reef sharks. A real highlight for our family was cycling along the island’s bougainvillea lined sand tracks to breakfast. Once we arrived at Matheefaru (the buffet restaurant), we were always welcomed with a smile and an incredibly generous and varied breakfast. On Halfboard, you can dine around for your evening meal which gives amazing variety over your stay. We loved the food and all the incredibly professional and friendly teams at Samsara, Oasis, Sunset bar, Meeru bar and Matheefaru. To conclude, no expense has been spared on Hideaway - its facilities are first rate but what makes it really shine is the wonderful staff.

Hotel's Favorite
I have researched the Maldives islands and resorts extensively. Hideaway Beach Resorts & Spa always stood out for several reasons: large villas with a lot of privacy, a remote island far from air and sea traffic, and a natural island with lush vegetation. Hideaway met all my expectations and exceeded some. A Hideaway representative met us at the airport and escorted us to the new lounge, which was comfortable and well-stocked in terms of food and drinks. We arrived a bit earlier than expected, so we were moved to an earlier flight to the resort. We didn't have time to explore the lounge because of that. The direct flight takes 70-75 minutes. It's longer than most flights because Hideaway is located on the very north side of Maldives. We don't mind that at all; actually, we always thought being far from the center gives you more peace and privacy - and found that to be true. We were quickly checked into our deluxe water pool villa, and it was beautiful! It's large, with a spacious bedroom and a big bathroom. The decor is wood-based, so it fits with the natural surroundings, as the island has a lot of trees and greenery. The deck is very wide and spacious, with gorgeous open ocean views (one of the main reasons we chose Hideaway). The pool is large too, with water jets. We opted for the ocean-facing side, which has more waves than the lagoon-facing side and probably a bit less marine life. The deck has absolute privacy; the villas are well-spaced, and no islands or sea traffic faces the villa. The lagoon villas have much less privacy but probably can see more marine life. Having said that, we've seen plenty of fish and several rays from our deck. There's some healthy coral if you choose to snorkel off the villa. Water and Nespresso coffee are included and replenished daily or on request. We had our infant son with us, so they provided a free baby crib, which was very comfortable for him. Thank you! Each villa has bicycles provided. I used mine all the time to ride around the island. It was a beautiful experience. The star of the resort is the island itself. It's beautiful, with long beaches, lush vegetation, a stunning lagoon, and an excellent coral reef for snorkeling. There's marine life everywhere: fish, sharks, eagle rays, sting rays, turtles. You can see many of these from your villa or just walking on the beach, especially while snorkeling. There are plenty of flowers all around the island, giving away a nice scent (frangipani!) while you're riding the bike or a buggy. The island is large by Maldives resort standards, so there's so much to explore on a bike or foot. The North Point beach is possibly the most stunningly beautiful place I've ever seen. The beach is wide, with flour-like sand (there are some areas with coarser sand, too), and a beautiful lagoon at the top. The side beach is gorgeous, too. There are some broken corals, so be careful when entering. The facilities are excellent. The sports complex is outstanding, with a newly renovated gym, two tennis courts, a paddle tennis court, a putting (golf) green area, and a basketball half-court. There's a free Yoga session daily and a bunch of other activities. There's a PADI diving center, which we used only for snorkeling gear but I've heard from divers that it's truly excellent. The diving spots near the island are apparently outstanding, so that's something I have on my to-do list for the next time (hopefully!). The spa was excellent, too. My wife and I had a Balinese massage; she also had a facial and was happy with it. Watersports has pretty much everything you can ask for. It's situated on a gorgeous beach, which does have a lot of broken coral, so some caution is required there. There is a mosque on the island for the Muslim staff, but it is also open to guests. You can arrange with your butler if you'd like to attend Friday prayers (which I did). It was a wonderful experience to offer prayers with the staff, some of whom you see around during the day. (Apparently, many resorts have mosques for the staff, something I learned only recently). The coral reef off the main Meeru Bar is outstanding for snorkeling. It's just a few meters from the beach. The coral is relatively well preserved, considering the bleaching that's happened all over the Maldives. There are so many varieties of marine life, depending on the time of the day. It was one of our favorite activities. We took a guided snorkeling tour, which I recommend if you're a novice (like we were). At the end of the water villas' deck, there's a circle (roundabout) that opens to a magnificent view of the lagoon and the island. The view is so stunning that I would cycle to that spot every day and stay for a few minutes just to soak in the view. It's spectacular - the ocean on one side and the island lagoon on the other, with various shades of blue. It has to be seen to be fully appreciated. We were on full board package, thanks to Mr. Prem. That included a buffet breakfast at Matheefaru, the main restaurant, lunch at either Meeru Bar or Sunset Pool Cafe (a 3-course a la carte meal), and dinner at Matheefaru (a different theme buffet every night of the week), Meeru or Sunset. There are two more restaurants, Oasis (open for lunch and dinner), and Samsara (open for dinner only). The food at Oasis and Samsara is 50% off, even on an all-inclusive plan. We liked the food, though we felt there could be more variety at buffet breakfasts and dinners. A highlight for me was a live cooking station with Asian soups at breakfast (wanton, chicken noodles, laksa...). There's an egg station, where they'll prepare eggs whichever way you like. At dinner, there's also a pasta station. I feel that there could be more variety in the deserts section. Likewise, it was curious there was no ice cream in the buffet; you had to ask for it, and it wasn't clear if it was included in the package. Some staff believed it wasn't, some said it was. This could be ironed out. Meeru and Sunset had their highlights, but again, maybe there could be more variety all over. Lunch and dinner menus are the same, so maybe that's something that could be improved. We had a wonderful dinner at Oasis (we were the only guests that night). That said, the place has a Moroccan/Middle Eastern decor vibe, yet there is almost no Moroccan/Middle Eastern food on the menu (except for a soup). Perhaps a lamb tagine or a couscous would be a good addition to the menu; maybe even some kababs. We ate at Samsara only once, and it was a special menu (a fabulous Tandoori dinner which included lobster; highly recommended!), so we didn't have a chance to taste their regular menu (hopefully next time!). Oasis and Samsara offer a premium feel in a wonderful and romantic setting. One thing that stood out was that drinks, including water, were chargeable at lunch and dinner, even with a full board package. I strongly feel that water should always be included with meals. I can understand charging for other drinks. Based on my discussions with TA forum members who are Maldives regulars, many would exclude resorts that charge for water from consideration. I would appeal to management to reconsider their position seriously. Water should be free at meals. Overall, there was never a lack of tasty food (on the contrary!), but at this level (and Hideaway is a premium resort), things could be even better. That said, we never lacked anything, and the staff always asked if they could do more for us (they often did!). Which brings me to staff. Apart from the island's beauty, the best thing about the resort is its staff. Nothing is too much or too little to ask about, and they would go out of their way to accommodate guests. I can't remember everyone, but here are several: Zaryr, our butler, who took care of all our needs Zubaid, our housekeeper Shahid and Shaiban at Matheefaru (we felt like a family with them; Shahid decorated our table for our farewell dinner, it was such a nice touch; thank you!); Roshni and Bina were always welcoming and playful with our 7-months-old son Kranti (our yoga instructor at the gym), Amin (a mean table tennis player), and a Brazilian tennis coach (sorry, buddy, I forgot your name) were full of smiles at the gym Najima with her megawatt smile and Kamlesh at Meeru bar & grill Dino at Oasis was super friendly and welcoming (and so was his manager, whose name I can't remember, but he was super professional) Upul and his team at Sunset Pool Cafe were super welcoming; Upul's hibiscus mocktail is outstanding and a must-try Prem who made us an offer we couldn't refuse :) There are others, including cooks and chefs, whose names I can't recall but who were all so kind and welcoming all the time. All in all, Hideaway is definitely a top choice. It met my expectations in almost every way and exceeded many others. Some suggested improvements are minuscule compared to everything else, which is superb. We look forward to returning, hopefully in a not-so-distant future.

We had a wonderful stay at The Hideaway. It was truly relaxing waking up to the view each morning from our water villa. We had an ocean side sunrise over water villa which suited us well as it meant in the afternoons we could relax under the canopy on our terrace in the shade with lovely refreshing gentle breezes blowing. The only disadvantage is the water is a little choppy for swimming on this side but as our pool was larger than expected this didn`t matter. We enjoyed the snorkelling which was absolutely stunning on the house reef & would definitely recommend the tour to start you off. It would have been useful to have a couple of flags on the beach to remind you where the best entrance & exits to the reef were as these can be difficult to spot, particularly if you overshoot them & have to swim against the current to return to them ! We enjoyed lessons in paddle tennis & stand up paddle where the instructors were so patient & encouraging. I also enjoyed a wonderful yoga session with Kranchi. The dolphin tour was also well worth doing. The thing that makes this resort so outstanding is the staff. Jokey our butler made everything run smoothly enabling us to concentrate on enjoying our holiday rather than trying to organise everything.Literally every staff member we came across made us feel very welcome & couldn`t do enough to make our stay special. I have a severe food allergy & have never been to a resort when every restaurant we visited knew immediately as soon (or even before) we gave our room number. The staff went out of their way to make me feel safe (altering ingredients or using different pans to cook things in or explaining every ingredient at the buffet). This was exceptional. Our favourite restaurant was Samsura. It was only a shame this was not included in our platinum package. We found the portion sizes too large in all the restaurants so ended up missing lunch entirely just to cope. In all, we spent 7 nights there & it wasn`t enough ! We will return. Thank you.

During our 10-day stay at the resort, we were treated to an overall wonderful experience. The island, boasting expansive grounds, was easily navigable thanks to the provision of comfortable bicycles or buggy service. Our spacious villas, cleaned twice daily, had good privacy. The staff was very warm, attentive and ensured our comfort. A special shoutout to Jokey, our attentive butler, and Shaibaan, who brightened our mornings and evenings with his friendly presence at breakfast and dinner. The snorkeling experience was amazing, with the house reef teeming with vibrant marine life, including fish, rays, and even sharks. We felt reassured knowing that a lifeguard was on hand to oversee our exploration of the reef. Additionally, opting for the all-inclusive package proved to be a wise choice, granting us access to two incredible excursions: a nice sunset with dolphins and a guided snorkeling adventure through the house reef. While our time at the resort left us feeling content and rejuvenated, we do have a couple of minor suggestions for improvement. Perhaps enhancing the lighting along the alleys at night would further elevate the ambiance, and expanding the variety of culinary options would add an extra layer of culinary delight to an already good experience.

This place is sensational and by far the most beautiful I have ever seen! The nature is sensational, with clear and warm waters, diverse corals and very colorful fauna. The structure of the hotel is perfect, everything is very clean and organized. The service is differentiated, with caring and very receptive professionals. Our butler Anastasiia, boss Minuja, and all the various other staff treated us like we were family. Thank you very much to all of them! Anyway, I hope to be back soon to enjoy this piece of paradise again!

Truly a memorable honeymoon for us! The overwater bungalow we stayed at was beautiful and incredibly spacious. We took advantage of the all-inclusive that they offered so we had appetizer, entree and dessert for every meal. We tried our best to try different foods each time from each of the restaurants in the resort and we honestly did not eat anything that we did not like. There’s options in the buffet that we honestly did not get to try since it did not appeal to us but others seemed to have enjoyed them. We also decided to enjoy a private lobster dinner which was amazing! The resort has lots of activities that they offer. We enjoyed the dolphin sunset cruise as well as kayaking! Above all, the people were just great here! They were all incredibly friendly and wonderful. We’d also like to give a shout-out to our personal butler Thoriq who managed our day to day activities, even scheduling things before we got there! Truly a memorable experience for us. Definitely recommend this resort and wish we could have stayed here forever!

Our stay at this resort was absolutely exceptional. The accommodation is spacious, clean, tastefully furnished. The food is varied, with a variety of tastes, so everyone has to choose there (for dinner, different world cuisines alternated - Mediterranean, Caribbean, Middle East, Asian, and the chef's evening was an exceptional experience). The service was fast, nice, very friendly and respectful. It is very difficult to remember to write all the names, but Chamila and Shahid can be mentioned for all of them. Perfect service was provided by the butler Jokey, who was ready to fulfill every request. His kind and friendly behavior made our stay even more enjoyable. All the services we managed to use were provided at an absolutely professional level. We really appreciate the privacy that this resort provides, as the individual villas are far enough apart and separated by lush vegetation. You don't have to travel for snorkeling and diving because there is a rich coral reef around the island. We hope that in a short time we will be able to return and continue enjoying the endless experiences that this resort offers. It really cannot be done in one stay. Once again, a big thank you to every stuff for a wonderful vacation. Monika, Slovakia

My wife and I stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary, and partly because of the occasion I was somewhat apprehensive as to whether the resort would live up to expectations. This might not have been helped by the fact that our first two Maldives trips had been absolutely amazing, and we thought our luck would have to end sometime... Fortunately for us, Hideaway Beach was not the place for that to happen. The transfer to our seaplane was courteously facilitated by the hotel’s airport staff (and for the return stages we were equally well looked after). The overwater villa was large and very comfortable, with the biggest overwater infinity pool we’ve ever shared bubbly in. We chose the White Platinum all inclusive plan, which is the hotel’s top meals/drinks package and is quite expensive, no two ways about it, but all food and drink at the high end resorts in the Maldives always is. It includes enough to never need to go off piste, but even though it’s their top tier all inclusive package, it has some odd exclusions. The chocolate in the mini bar and the minibar sized spirits are chargeable for some reason. But there’s red and white wine, beer and prosecco all included. To eat in Samsara, the Asian a la carte restaurant, you receive 50% off food (drinks are still included from the WP menu, which is extensive). If you want the teppanyaki, you receive no credit at all for the food, even though you could have been making your way through a $300 food spend in Meeru or the Sunset Pool Cafe (the other two a la carte restaurants). We learned, unsurprisingly, that the Teppan is not in action very often…. Which is sad, because the food was good! In fact, all of the a la carte restaurants were very good, with the staff making the dining experience very warm and friendly. The buffet at Matheefaru, both for breakfast and for two evening meals was perfectly decent food, but some way behind the a la carte restaurants naturally. The lobster dinner however, that we had in one of the pavilions there was certainly the best lobster meal we’ve ever had (and we’ve been lucky enough to have had a few). Outside of eating, drinking and relaxing, the snorkelling was amazing. The house reef starts virtually on the beach and the water goes a little colder and darker just a few meters further away. There was no shortage of marine life in the water right outside the villa either. I can’t not mention our butler Shahin, Upul and his team at Sunset, Kamlesh and his staff at Meeru, Najeema (at Samsara and Meeru), Sam (who seemed to be everywhere 😉), and so many others - all of whom really did make such a difference to our experience. Thank you all. I must not forget Andre, Michelle and Rosie, who provided a wonderful range of musical entertainment for us most nights. I thought I’d leave Chamila, who was always ready to suggest and mix another cocktail, either before or after dinner, right to the end, just to make him wonder where his name was, if he reads this. Thank you for taking such good care of us. A fantastic place. It’s a shame it’s such a long way away!
