Look no further. This place is the real deal paradise on earth. The island and its beaches and water are just simply spectacular. The best I have ever been to. In my opinion, it put Hawaii, Thailand, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Aruba, amongst many other beaches I have been to, to SHAME. The difficult thing will be recovering from this and not expecting every other beach vacation in the future to meet this standard. Then, once you realize that this island is just a natural wonder, you start realizing that the hotel too is humanity matching nature's perfection. Every meal we had was great. Every cocktail we ordered was made with craft skills. Every restaurant was stylish and just made you want to hang out in them, DESPITE the fact that your private villa is what dreams are made of. We had a Private Family Villa with Pool and it felt like we lived on the island alone. In fact, in general, we felt that we barely saw many people given the large expanse of the island relative to number of villas. Our kids loved the Kids Menu at every restaurant. They loved the bats and the crabs and the bioluminescent plankton. The hotel is constantly ready to serve. You call for a golf cart to pick you up, and in less than 2 minutes they are wherever you are (usually less time). When you arrive you are made to feel like you are the first guest they had. And when you leave, after you have paid, they still make you feel like you are the last guest they will ever see. Kudos to the management team and to the staff for not just relying on the natural beauty of this island, but on trying to match and top it. We used everything except the SPA (i.e. we ate at all 4 restautnts, rented SUP boards and wind surf boards, jumped on the bouncy castle on the water with the kids, and went on a few excursions... all of it was great. Our kids (ages 4 and 7) LOVED it just as much. So much for them to do on this island that they won't complain that you didn't take them to some cheesy hotel like the Atlantis in Dubai or something.

We visited Hideaway resort for our Anniversary in Jan, 21. I have say they have one of the best services I have experienced in all our hotel/resort stays till date. SNORKELLING REVIEW: The resort has good coral reefs near Meru bar. Almost 60-70% of the corals are dead however, there are quite a few fishes you would encounter while snorkelling (I can just imagine how it would have been before the coral bleaching event.) I was lucky to encounter a turtle too on one of my snorkelling trips. VIEWS, SPORTS and LEISURE: Meru bar has one of the best sunset views in the resort. While on the other side near water sports center the sand if very fine and awesome to walk upon with your partner. Non-motorized sports are free while motorized sports are chargeable. STAY: We stayed one day at Sunset beach villa and other days in Water villa with pool. I must say the charm of Water villa with pool is just at a different level. Large rooms with wide enough pool, outside resting and awesome views. I would recommend Water villa with pool any day if you have a good budget. FOOD: Being vegetarians the choice in food are very less in buffets but you are make do. While Samsara (Indian restaurant) is chargeable even if you are on Full board (This is something I think they should include in the Full board) Do note, they do serve Idli and Dosas in the morning breakfast. I would take this opportunity to thank Chef Surya for accommodating us and serving us one of the best Dal Fry and Biryani on request. We liked the taste so much that we requested him to make us the same for the next day and he did :) Moreover, we were lucky that one of days they had Indian buffet. Just so everyone knows they have atleast 20 different sweets being served to guests, I must commend the chefs - they made so much dishes, sweets and they all tasted great - especially Gulab Jamuns and Gajjar ka Halwa. SERVICE: Their service is top notch, we had Omayama as our butler and I wish everyone one has a butler like her. She was always there to guide and help us with a smiling face and charming persona. We loved her. She clicked some of the best photos of us, that too taking pains to make sure we got some great shots and memories. Hats off to her. I would also like to mention Suma from Meru bar, her etiquette the way she served guests showed request and finesse. She was so humble and down to earth that I would love to have a friend like that. I did encounter a few issues though: 1. When we landed in Male at 9:30 AM, we were told that we have a plan scheduled for you at 4 pm. I was like, seriously we came early so we could be escorted to the hotel immediately. (They should have arranged the planes accordingly.) Anyways after talking with the representative the did arrange from an immediate plane transfer at 10:30 am. However, upon reaching the resort we were told that we would have to wait till 2 pm for room to be allocated. Till then we can have lunch. We were ok, we had lunch by 2: 10 pm and when we asked for the room we were told to wait for 20 mins more. (This was something I didn't expect from them.) 2. AC at Sunset Beach villa was really weak and one had to wait for 1 hr to get some kind of cooling 3. Jacuzzi bath tub didn't fillup at all! This was our first day at the resort, after waiting for 40 mins, the bathtub filled up just like a few inches. I immediately contacted the reception and they sent some maintenance guys to the room. They checked and said to our Butler that everything seems fine and it should fillup in next 45 mins. I told them that I waited for 45 mins already, but they said it would work. So they sat with me for 20-30 mins and the water rose just by 1-2 cms. They told me that they would come tomorrow to solve this. (We only were in that room for a day.) I was very disappointed that day as we were tired and wanted to relax. We paid a premium for these rooms and expected these things to work, it didn't unfortunately. 4. On the first day we were told that we can't ask for water in the restaurants as its chargeable and isn't included in the Full board menu. I was like what?! Water chargeable, even 7 stars hotels in India don't charge for water. Our butler told us to contact our booking agent to get this included if need be. Next day because of the issues we faced in Beach villa they made water free for us. (But this should have been free from the beginning.) All in all I think these issues were minor in the larger scheme of things and yet shouldn't have happened in a 5 star resort. Anyways, after our stay I was more than satisfied with their service, activities, etc. That I would recommend it to anyone reading this review. A caveat here, we haven't been to other resorts in Maldives so my opinion is only based on my experience at Hideaway.

Our first trip to Maldives. Overwhelming experience! Especially on New year. Breathtaking flora and fauna. And of course the hotel! The name speaks for itself) Gorgeous villas both from outside and inside. Wonderful room service. Food and drinks above all expectations especially being pretty far away from main civilization)) A large carte restaurants are true masterpieces. Organization of excursions and water sport activities is on a very good level. All our dreams came true! We were very lucky to have a magician-butler Yana and very attentive manager Christophe. Thank you! We faced just one disappointment - 10 days wasn't enough))) Definitely coming back)))

After sifting through many resorts in the Maldives, my wife and I decided to stay at Hideaway and it was the best decision. This place is simply stunning! We stayed in a deluxe water villa with pool and we made the right choice. We were a little concerned that the ocean villas may detract from the view but they didn't at all. they were far enough in the distance for it not to have an impact. Every detail was perfect! We are scuba divers and the Meridis Relax and Dive dive shop on site was one of the best we have ever had the pleasure of diving with especially with divemaster Willie. We did 11 dives during our stay and nearly every dive was full of such diverse marine life. Manta rays, reef sharks, turtles, and the coral at the Heaven and Hell dive site was so vibrant and healthy. I've never seen those colors on a reef before. Our butler was always quick to respond to whatever we needed and always made sure the room was kept tidy and clean. Each villa has bicycles that you can use which, we didn't mind walking at all because the whole of the island is beautiful but the bikes were a nice touch if you had dinner reservations or had to show up for an 8:30 dive. They also have a buggy service with golf carts that we used on a couple of occasions. The staff was vey friendly and always seemed happy to see you. And if you treat them respectfully then they will go to any length for you if you ask. The restaurants were good and clean and there was plenty of variety but after several days the options can get a little repetitive but when in doubt, just order the the sea bass! We were concerned that the location might be too far north adding additional travel time but the short 45 min flight from Male was of no consequence nor was the 20 min boat ride to the island. If you have the opportunity to stay here I highly recommend that you do so without hesitation.
