Really great hotels are few in number in rural areas like Nauvoo, but this restored 1840s era home is an exception. You step back in time a bit and have to be ready for the eccentricities of having your bathroom across the hall from your room, but the staff is great and the rooms are pleasantly furnished. The continental breakfast... More

My husband and I stayed in the Reimbold room at this inn, the night before we were to be sealed in Nauvoo. We had been in contact with the owners quite a few times before our stay, and they were accommodating. The bed was comfortable, the room was adorable (and impeccably clean), there was air conditioning, there is (working) wifi,... More

I stayed in what was once part of the attic with my 12 year old daughter. We had our own bathroom connecting to our room and two small windows. The room was charming as was the entire house. It was great to be down the hill in what's known as the "flats" (I think) which is where all the Old... More

My husband and I and our 15 yr old son stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. It was our first time in a bed and breakfast and so we weren't sure what to expect. It took a couple of days to hear back on my request for the reservation but I was glad to be patient because this place literally... More

The location was perfect and our hosts were very friendly and engaging. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the light breakfast provided and the large living room was perfect for visiting with friends.

This is probably a great place to stay, if you can get them to call you back to make a reservation. I called several times and even sent a text but they did not return my phone calls. I sent another text complaining about there poor customer service. They finally called me back to say that they were booked those... More

I am sincerely sorry that things didn’t work out after all of the many phone conversations we had trying to nail down a night for you to stay with us. We are a very small operation and it is impossible for us to be available 24/7 to answer the phone, but we always follow up and call people back. As... More

If you come to Nauvoo for the History of the Mormons, this is the place to stay. Tom and Heather are gracious hosts. You are just blocks away from the Temple Grounds, the Visitor Centers and right where history was made. Lots of room, beautifully kept, peaceful and serene.

What a great place to stay! A quaint & peaceful place to lay your head & take in the beauty of historic Nauvoo. Bicycles were available, fun to ride around the area, conveniently close to all the sites including LDS Temple & local restaurants & shops. Helpful friendly staff made it complete. Highly recommend it!

We loved our stay here. I would definitely stay here again. The house was amazing with a lot of history. The Inn keepers were very knowledgeable concerning the history and willing to share their experiences. It was extremely peaceful and quiet. A truly wonderful experience. The best part of the stay was the warm, family feeling in the home.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Across the street from the Nauvoo Pageant stage, the Willard Richards Inn is the only accommodation located in the Historic District of Old Nauvoo. It is the actual property of the Apostle Willard Richards and full of history and stories from when the Richards lived here to after the Saints went west to settle Salt Lake City. A big part of the tour of the house is the wine cellar that was built in the 1860's out of the scavenged stones of the original Nauvoo Temple. This historic home is surrounded by the masterfully restored homes of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor and Wilford Woodruff just to name a few. Instead of simply visiting the historic sites, why not stay in one? The Willard Richards Inn boasts beautiful views of the Nauvoo Temple and is only steps away from the Nauvoo Pageant stage. Guests of the Willard Richards Inn also receive a complementary bicycle rental to make seeing Nauvoo as fun as possible. If you are looking to make your trip to Nauvoo an experience to remember, there is no better location in town to experience the history and spirit of Nauvoo. ... more   less
