On a recent visit to family in Chicago, we returned to Mount Carroll for the weekend. To be happily staying at THE INN AT MOLLY'S Two delightful suites , beautifully decorated , with every convenience for your comfort. Superb art on the walls, quirky tasteful ornaments, even some hung on the doors . State of the art coffee machine! A fridge holding snacks, water, and one's continental breakfast . I recommend the bagels! We met the hosts which added to the joy.

We had a wonderful stay at Molly's! The Deckside Suite was clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. My husband and I loved the local artwork, the books, games, and the delicious breakfast goodies! This would be the perfect place for an extended stay because of the kitchen area. We wished we could have stayed longer, and plan to come back.

Stayed recently for a couple of nights at the "street side" suite at Molly's. Nicely decorated, and very clean, this is a really comfortable and cute place in the heart of my home town Mt Carroll. Though I moved from here over 40 years ago it will always be my home town. There were a few challenges for us at Molly's. First, terrible storms came through and so did the rain through the big windows in the front. We were mopping up puddles and leaving towels down all night . This is a really old building with huge windows, but Molly's has got to figure that out if they are going to rent this out. Secondly, the stairs were a killer. Now in all fairness the website does warn you about the stairs, but this suite is up what is easily two flights of narrow steep stairs. I won't stay there again, because they were difficult to navigate, especially with luggage. Lastly, I thought the owner was very unfriendly. I never met the wife of the Molly's team, she was busy being the chef in their restaurant downstairs, but the husband/bartender knew we were staying in the suite and never said, welcome, we're glad you are here, how do you like the suite etc. it was very off putting. You book through the website, you pay through the website, and I definitely felt they did not want to deal with anyone personally. Now if stairs don't bother you, and feeling welcomed by someone is not a high priority, I recommend Molly's in the heart of a great little town.

Response from Michael J, Owner at The Inn at Molly's
Responded Oct 1, 2017
Thanks for your feedback, and we’re happy to hear that you enjoyed some of your stay at the Inn at Molly’s. We wanted to address the concerns you raised here. We haven’t heard about anyone having issues with the windows before, but we’re sorry to hear this was a problem for you. We are considering various options to solve this problem with the historic windows, and will do something to make sure this isn’t a problem for others. And yes, we do mention the staircase on the website, but if specifics might be helpful to people, we will add them. The staircase has 20 steps and is four feet wide. Finally, the people who run Molly’s Kitchen and Bar do not run the Inn at Molly’s. The people who run the Inn are not there on site, so we are unfortunately not able to welcome people to the Inn in person. We do hope that people who stay at the Inn will enjoy their time there, and we thank you for your feedback.

The Inn at Molly's has two suites. One is "streetside" overlooking Market Street; the other is "deckside" and has a nice deck outside where you can sit. The décor is absolutely beautiful, consisting of local art, beautiful black-and-white photographs and gorgeous wood furniture, locally made. Very modern: coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, etc. Yogurt, fruit and bagels in fridge for breakfast, and Molly's Kitchen and Bar is downstairs for a delicious dinner the night before. Although we live only five miles away, we stayed here for a "getaway" birthday celebration.

We had a wonderful stay at The Inn at Molly's. We had the chance to see both suites In this incredible renovated building and both are beautiful. The place was more like a charming and beautifully furnished apartment I wish we could live in than a hotel room. Comfortable sofa, very comfortable bed, and air conditioning that was quiet and cool despite record heat. A spacious kitchen and mini-refrig stocked with all kinds of breakfast goodies. We loved our dinner at Molly's down below us and look forward to our return. Owner was very responsive to our questions. We loved his landscape photos and wood craft firnishings.
