I love the lodge, and the restaurant. The cabins need some updating, but the hospitality is great. The CCC cabins have full beds, so they are a little cozy. I wonder if the state funds any or the lodge rentals. I have stayed here several times, and could honestly live there. If the owner's ever sell I'd buy and run... More

We loved our stay in a bluff side cabin. It was spacious with lots of space to store our belongings. The beds were very comfortable. The set up of 2 rooms was perfect to allow for naps and late sleepers. The restaurant is excellent with an expansive menu and excellent wait staff. Food was delicious. This is a great destination... We spent our 34th anniversary here and decided to splurge and stay in the Bluff cabins. No reservations were made and I was surprised that only one was available on Monday,November 2. The walk down to the cabins is a long winding ramp which gets your heart pumping every time you walk back up. The cabins are on stilts and... More

The Bluff Cabins are quite nice; two rooms with a lovely deck. Very clean and comfortable, and quiet. It's a short hike down a smooth path to the cabins, and a hike back up, so it might be difficult for some folks, but it's well lit at night. The only negatives are that the refrigerator was old and not working... More

We had a party of four so we chose a Bluff Cabin. It had a bedroom with 2 queen size beds. The living room was sofa, 2 chairs, small table with 2 chairs. We had a small refrigerator and electric fireplace. The room had a balcony overlooking the woods. Everything was fine for a cabin. Bit of a walk from... More

We came to the lodge by invitation! The lodge was clean and very rustic! I have limited mobility and the ramp to the entrance was dark and rugged! The manager had to kick open the second door for me to get inside! I was say ADA accessible at request! The dinner was good! The famous fried chicken and staples! The... More

We stayed in the Bluff Cabins which are a bit newer than the other cabins. They were nice- a little rustic- yet clean and nice. Our unit only had 2- full size beds, although they advertised them as queens. I am not small, so that made a difference. In addition, as of my stay last week, they did not have... More

Our family wanted to take us (out of towners) to the Giant City Lodge for the family style fried chicken dinner. It is $11.99 for adults and $4.99 for children under 12. We were served biscuits with butter and apple butter, chicken dumplings, green beans, corn, slaw, mashed potatoes, gravy, and fried chicken. It is served family style. You can... More

We stay a long weekend at the lodge every October enjoying the fall foliage, seeing the local sights and buying apples. We always get a little cabin and spend time walking the grounds, driving through the woods and visiting Makanda. The place is clean and after a day of walking, spending an hour or so upstairs in a big leather... More

We stayed in a historic cabin in the Giant City lodge with two beds in early August 2015. The cabin was clean and nice. Location of the cabin was perfect for who wanted to hike around the state park. Cons were that the inside of the cabin was very dark due to the small windows. The famous fried chicken in... More
