Scenic state park just south of Carbondale Illinois! My husband and I travel there once a year during different seasons to hike the rugged Forrest trails and enjoy the fried chicken family style lunch! We have been going here for over 20 years and love it every time‼️

On our way back to St. Louis from a trip to Nashville and decided to get off of the Interstate. Boy, what a find!! Striking lodge! Looks like a ski lodge in the middle of Southern Illinois! Cathedral ceiling, stone fireplace, taxidermy animals, clunky furniture...just rustic and awesome. We pretty much just stumbled upon this secret! On our way inside,... More

I've gone here since I was a kid for special occasions. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at the lodge 3 years ago and all of our out-of-town friends still rave about it. It's a nice cozy atmosphere and the food is really good. The natural scenery in the area is beautiful and it makes for an enjoyable... More

My husband and I met my parents here for a long weekend. Originally my husband and I were going to camp while my parents stayed at the lodge, but the campground was over crowded and noisy, so we bailed and stayed with them. The cabin and grounds were very well maintained. My parents had no problem with the bed and... More

This lodge was created by the CCC in the 30's and is in the middle of Giant City State Park. Good home style food in a lodge full of character. Beautiful wood work, stone front and walkway, and if you want to walk off your calories consumed, hike on the trails of Giant City or up the water tower for... More

The Giant City Lodge is a three story stone structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, and has massive doors and windows, huge fireplaces, and sturdy furniture. There are stuffed game on the walls and a stuffed buffalo standing guard on the lobby. The attached restaurant was probably built or updated after the original building. We stayed... More

Lived in the area for 15+ years and never tried it. Came through the area for a quick visit and eat there with my family. Absolutely loved it. Food was great, service was good, and atmosphere was cozy. It is a must try if you are in the area. Once you finish dinner take a stroll up the water tower... More

What a beautiful country we live in! The Giant City Lodge/Park/Area is a testament to the beauty in our world! The park and area is very well kept and the lodge is comfy and quaint with delicious food! Some family faves are the fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, fresh veggies and any homestyle buffet item! We will definitely be back!

I brought a large group in for dinner. Our waitress was rude and sharp with my mother. I simple asked her to be kind and that we all thought she was rude. She replied in a rude manner and said I will get you a different waitress. I spoke with James the manager he was just as rude and walked... More

This place was amazing, beautiful and wonderful food. The service was fast and friendly. Mr. Richard Kelley was so nice when we stopped in his office and spoke with him. Just like an old friend. Definitely a place to visit again!
