Spending our anniversary at the Makanda Inn and Cottages was the best choice we made this year. My husband and I arrived on Monday to a warm welcome from the property managers. The cottage was adorable and just the right size for two people. Nestled in the beautiful woods the view from the bedroom is just the tonic for anyone who needs some rest and relaxation. And if total isolation isn't your thing there are plenty of wineries to visit. 10/10 would recommend.

Our stay at Makanda Inn & Cottages was top notch. Nervous about travel during this pandemic, but really needing to get away, booking a cottage was perfect. Tucked into the hill with beautiful surroundings, the cabin was truly a retreat. The clear policy regarding check-in to allow for deep cleaning and the perfect condition of the cabin upon arrival alleviated any fears. The managers were very responsive to email and phone inquiries, as well as assisting with both technological and restocking requests once on property. Finally, the Welcome Book provided excellent suggestions for places to visit and eat. We'll be back!

We were only able to stay one night, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Inn. The setting in the woods is beautiful. The rooms are very nice, with some extra touches like fresh ground coffee. The breakfast was quite nice, and Lorraine and Malcolm are excellent hosts. Most importantly right now, they take Covid precautions very seriously, and require masks in the public indoor areas except when eating, and have individual tables spread apart. We would definitely return!

My husband and I stopped here for one night during our road trip honeymoon across the country. Makanda Inn is in a fairly remote part of the state and so it felt relaxing and off the beaten path. The rooms were clean and comfortable and Loraine and Malcolm were excellent hosts! They even made us some yummy cupcakes to help us celebrate. We went for a run to the State Park at Loraine and Malcolm’s suggestion. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We felt very spoiled. Thank you Loraine and Malcolm for your hospitality!

My husband and I enjoyed a long weekend in the West End cabin. Very clean, modern and comfortable cabin... the bed was comfortable, the cabin had everything needed to cook meals, and it had a nice sitting and living area. We enjoyed sitting by the fire and listening to the sounds of the forest - very quiet & peaceful. Nearby Giant City State Park has awesome hikes; it was nice to be close to wineries & to Carbondale to stock up on groceries. Lorraine & Malcolm were very welcoming and helpful! Would recommend.
