A stop over in Jacksonville landed me here at Blessings on State. I was looking for a quiet cozy place to stay and I found that with this family. I was asked to have a seat in the beautiful front living room with the baby grand piano playing in the background. Gwenn wanted to visit with me and give me information I would need about the Jacksonville area (special events, restaurants and shopping). I was asked about having milk and cookies before bedtime and what would I like to be served for breakfast. Thank you Casey for the milk and warm cookies brought to my door as I was reading in my sitting room. The rooms were absolutely beautiful with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was served on a very classic table setting, so pretty! After breakfast I had the best visit with Gwenn. They are a wonderful family. Thank you for your prayers for my niece. I definitely would love to visit again.

The historic Blessings on State is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. I appreciated my host Gwen changing to a savory egg bake served with a ham slice and asparagus when I told her I preferred a low-carb breakfast. She also gave me a discount coupon to use at a restaurant in town for dinner. Her husband showed me where it was best to park in back of their B&B. Gwen told me about finding the property 15 years earlier, deciding to buy it, and finding the antiques to furnish it. Fun stories! The room where I stayed was gorgeous. Super comfy.

Glenn and Gwen were amazing hosts, and their home is beautiful. My wife and I were blessed with an overnight here by my parents for our 8th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! They watched our 4 kids while my wife and I stayed in the Tranquility Suite. Every tiny detail here was thought out very well by Glenn and Gwen...to the cleanliness, the decor, the amazing breakfast waffles, the snacks, coffee, water, literally EVERYTHING was 5+ stars! Very thankful to have this quiet time with my wife and will definitely be staying here again in the future! Thank you for an amazing experience!

We reserved a room here after being unimpressed with options in Springfield, where we were planning to visit the Lincoln museum the next day. We stayed in the Tranquility Suite on a night that the other suite was empty, so we had the place to ourselves. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the bathroom was large. The room was quiet, so we slept well. The hosts were very accommodating and breakfast was delicious. For dinner, K’s Creek was recommended and it didn’t disappoint- my husband loved the truffle fries that were the evening special.

Thank you for choosing to drive the short distance to Springfield. Several guests have made that choice, and we appreciate it! I'm pleased that you slept well and enjoyed your stay with us. Thanks for mentioning K's Creek. Kitchen 63 at K's is very popular with our guests. Great service and we love Chef Richie. He is great to develop innovative specials! Please stay with us again the next time you're in the area!

I stayed in the Serenity Suite for a weekend in April on the recommendation of my daughter who lives a few blocks away. The breakfasts are fantastic and have hot tea available when returning a night, in addition to the cookies and milk you are offered, was just the relaxing touch I needed. The room was quiet and spacious with a comfortable sitting area separate from the bedroom. The house has been beautifully restored and is surrounded by other gorgeous old houses to see.

We enjoyed our stay at Blessings on State. Our room was clean and had a separate private sitting room. Breakfast rated right up there with one of the best we have had. My husband and I had a peach smoothie, veggie and cheese omelet, asparagus, bacon and a sweet bread toast. It was delicious! The hosts are very accommodating and genuinely nice. The neighborhood has huge old homes that are beautiful. We will definitely be back!

The upside of a good review is that more people will stay here. The downside for us is that more people will stay, making it more challenging for us to stay here when we visit Jacksonville. You won't be disappointed! We stayed at Blessings on State March 4-5, 2022. The reservation process went well for it being a last-minute one. We checked into the bed and breakfast and were greeted warmly, shown around the beautiful home, and given information about a walking tour of historical homes that we could do on our own if we wanted. They asked if we wanted milk and cookies in the evening and who would turn that down. They were delicious! We reserved the larger of the available rooms and it was spacious and cozy. The bathroom had a soaker tub with bath salts and a bath bomb that made for a very relaxing soak after a long day. The next morning, we crawled out of bed and made coffee at the Keurig coffee, tea, and hot cocoa station just steps outside our door. There was also a seasonal hot cocoa bar that had everything imaginable for putting in your hot cocoa. We finished our warm beverages and decided to head out to see the old homes that were on the walking tour before breakfast. The neighborhood is definitely charming and takes you back to yesteryear. We were back in time for a delicious breakfast made by Glenn and Gwenn. Poached pears (they were amazing and actually made me think I could add fruit to my breakfast rotation) and waffles with ice cream and more fruit. We will be staying here again the next time we come to Jacksonville! Thank you for your warm hospitality, personal touches, and for making a hard situation more bearable.

Thank you for this wonderful review of your stay at Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast! You stayed in our Tranquility Suite and I'm glad you enjoyed the soaking tub. That clawfoot tub with the chandelier over the top is why some people reserve that suite! The breakfasts and snacks are available to guests in both suites, but you had the more luxurious bathroom! I'm glad you enjoyed our historic neighborhood. It's beautiful in every season. We look forward to your next stay!

My husband, sister and I enjoyed our stay at this lovely B&B. We felt so welcomed by hosts Gwynn and Glenn from the moment we arrived. Their home was decorated so beautifully during the holiday season. Gwynn made arrangements for us to have dinner at a new restaurant (Proud Richard’s) and secured a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert. After dinner, we enjoyed treats at the Hot Cocoa Bar and relaxed watching British Baking Christmas Season in one of the sitting rooms. Beds were very comfortable, making for a wonderful sleep. The next morning, we were treated to a gourmet breakfast (dessert for breakfast) - poached pears, waffles topped with fruit and a dallop of ice cream, and a pavlova topped with strawberries! We didn’t eat for the rest of the day! If ever we are traveling through Jacksonville, IL, we will definitely return to stay at this lovely B&B! #blessingsbandb

We really enjoyed having you stay with us during your cross-country trip! Our location just off I-72 brings us some terrific guests that are "just passing through." I'm so glad you enjoyed Proud Richard's, Jacksonville's newest restaurant. We love being able to offer a great dining experience on SUNDAY! I'm also glad you mentioned the Hot Cocoa Bar. It's a fun seasonal addition to our complimentary amenities list. Come back and see us again!
