What a wonderful stay we had at Blessings on State! The owners were so warm and personable. They went out of their way to make our stay more enjoyable. All the comforts of home. I felt so pampered! Wonderful breakfast and warm cookies at night. Beautiful home!
I have been meaning to write this review for several weeks now, my wife and I visited Blessings on State this past April. We had SUCH a nice time, everything was amazing! Gwen is the proprietress, and made our stay so special! The house itself is historic, with incredible period pieces and great attention to detail throughout! The home is also located among tons of other beautiful historic homes in many walkable blocks. We spent our evening after dinner walking around (there is a park about 2 blocks up the street, and the former Governor's mansion is directly across from the park. We continued our 2 hour walk through the neighborhoods, all of which were just amazing! Our night spent in a comfortable 4 post bed in front of a fireplace was awesome! The next morning we had breakfast, and it was spectacular! Gwen is a great cook! We wrapped the next morning up shopping in Jacksonville's town square, some really neat little shops there! We will absolutely be back, thank you for such a fun and special memory! …
Lovely location, friendly owners, excellent food! Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay! The decor is really cozy! And it’s not far from all sorts of downtown places to hang out. If the owners ask you if you want milk and cookies before bed, take them up on it! You won’t regret it!
If you want to be spoiled with a welcoming and warm environment, stately and elegant, Blessings on State will not disappoint. Our rooms were spacious and relaxing and had the spa-like luxury of a beautifully appointed shower, claw-foot tub and sinks. The hostess customized our breakfast to our dietary needs and we were again spoiled with personalized service and a table overlooking the beautiful gardens. I highly recommend this as a place to stay to appreciate the history and charm of Jacksonville, Illinois.
I stayed here for a 2 day business trip. Every morning breakfast was great and on time as requested the night before. The conversations with the owner were also great. I felt very comfortable staying here and the décor throughout the house was amazing.
