If you loved Downton Abbey, you really must stay at Blessings on State!! Renovated and modernized for the 21st century, this stunning Victorian home has it all. Absolutely gorgeous wood trim throughout with equally luxurious furnishings and the front porch is perfect for reading or just a relaxing conversation. Visiting for a wedding in the area, we looked for somewhere nice to stay for the weekend. Blessings on State was perfect! The Tranquility Suite was exactly what we needed for our stay; my husband and I had the main room with king size bed, and my 28 yr old daughter had her own separate room which included a comfy daybed. The king bed made with super soft cotton sheets was so comfortable, I had no trouble sleeping at all. The gourmet breakfast was truly the cherry on top! Orange Juice served in crystal, china cup & saucer, Sterling silver coffee pot, china?! Remember....Downton Abbey. I felt like Lady Crawley herself ;)

If you want to be spoiled with a welcoming and warm environment, stately and elegant, Blessings on State will not disappoint. Our rooms were spacious and relaxing and had the spa-like luxury of a beautifully appointed shower, claw-foot tub and sinks. The hostess customized our breakfast to our dietary needs and we were again spoiled with personalized service and a table overlooking the beautiful gardens. I highly recommend this as a place to stay to appreciate the history and charm of Jacksonville, Illinois.

For our anniversary we stayed at this beautiful B&B run by Gwen and Glen. The tranquilly room we occupied for a few days was exceptional in layout, comfort, cleanliness and decorated in early 1900 decor to match the rest of the house. Of course we had an updated bathroom that also kept the period look with the tub and cabinetry. The breakfasts were a treat and served hot and fresh! We both would recommend staying at Blessings on State when in the Springfield or Jacksonville, IL area. Jim and Minda

I stayed at the Inn the weekend before Christmas this past year and booked the Christmas Traditions package and it did not disappoint. As soon as I walked in I felt like I had stepped into another world, the Christmas decorations and the tree lit up in the front room gave the Inn a warm and cozy atmosphere. My room was stunning, I had my own Christmas tree and when I woke up the next morning I had a stocking on my door! I can not say enough wonderful things about Gwenn, Glen and Valerie, they welcomed me so warmly and treated me like family. I don't eat gluten or dairy and Gwenn went out of her way to make me the most delicious gluten free waffle with fresh berries for breakfast! I attached some photos of how wonderful all the small details were that made my stay feel like I was transported to a different time. 10/10 I would recommend this Inn to anyone I know. Can't wait to be back again some day! P.S. if you love Hallmark Christmas movies this Inn was straight out of one of their movies :)

We reserved a room here after being unimpressed with options in Springfield, where we were planning to visit the Lincoln museum the next day. We stayed in the Tranquility Suite on a night that the other suite was empty, so we had the place to ourselves. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the bathroom was large. The room was quiet, so we slept well. The hosts were very accommodating and breakfast was delicious. For dinner, K’s Creek was recommended and it didn’t disappoint- my husband loved the truffle fries that were the evening special.

Thank you for choosing to drive the short distance to Springfield. Several guests have made that choice, and we appreciate it! I'm pleased that you slept well and enjoyed your stay with us. Thanks for mentioning K's Creek. Kitchen 63 at K's is very popular with our guests. Great service and we love Chef Richie. He is great to develop innovative specials! Please stay with us again the next time you're in the area!

We stayed at Blessings on State recently for our 40th anniversary getaway. It was our second time to stay here and it didn't disappoint. The rooms are well equipped with a comfy bed, plenty of easy chairs to relax in, and beautiful antiques. The breakfasts were delicious (including my requisite chocolate) and served in an elegant setting. Gwenn and Glenn are friendly and gracious. They even surprised us with a small decorated cake for our anniversary! The town of Jacksonville is a very interesting place to visit. We love admiring all of the many beautiful and unique mansions on State St. There are also many Lincoln sites and Underground Railroad places to visit. Our favorite moments were just sitting in their beautiful gardens listening to the birds and relaxing on a glider. Truly a memorable B&B!

I have been meaning to write this review for several weeks now, my wife and I visited Blessings on State this past April. We had SUCH a nice time, everything was amazing! Gwen is the proprietress, and made our stay so special! The house itself is historic, with incredible period pieces and great attention to detail throughout! The home is also located among tons of other beautiful historic homes in many walkable blocks. We spent our evening after dinner walking around (there is a park about 2 blocks up the street, and the former Governor's mansion is directly across from the park. We continued our 2 hour walk through the neighborhoods, all of which were just amazing!

Our night spent in a comfortable 4 post bed in front of a fireplace was awesome! The next morning we had breakfast, and it was spectacular! Gwen is a great cook! We wrapped the next morning up shopping in Jacksonville's town square, some really neat little shops there!

We will absolutely be back, thank you for such a fun and special memory!

I'm so happy that you enjoyed your stay in our Serenity on State Suite! You did a great job describing our historic neighborhood - it's definitely a great place for evening walks. I'm especially pleased that you went shopping. Our locally owned shops and other businesses were hit hard by the pandemic, but we're still here and we're ready for people to visit Jacksonville! I hope you'll come back soon!

A stop over in Jacksonville landed me here at Blessings on State. I was looking for a quiet cozy place to stay and I found that with this family. I was asked to have a seat in the beautiful front living room with the baby grand piano playing in the background. Gwenn wanted to visit with me and give me information I would need about the Jacksonville area (special events, restaurants and shopping). I was asked about having milk and cookies before bedtime and what would I like to be served for breakfast. Thank you Casey for the milk and warm cookies brought to my door as I was reading in my sitting room. The rooms were absolutely beautiful with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was served on a very classic table setting, so pretty! After breakfast I had the best visit with Gwenn. They are a wonderful family. Thank you for your prayers for my niece. I definitely would love to visit again.

Gwen & Glenn were the nicest hosts. Gwen made us dinner reservations as soon as we got there. The house is clean and quiet. The decor was on point. The soaker tub with complimentary bath salts was great for an 8 month pregnant mama. The breakfast was superb. Highly recommend.

Our Tranquility Suite is our family suite. It has a king bed in the bedroom; a marble bath with a double sink, step in shower and pedestal soaking tub; and a siting room with an twin iron daybed with a twin pop-up trundle on the other side of the bathroom. It is tight when both beds are in use, but it might work!
