So many good things about my stay… if I had been able bodied I would give my stay all the stars. Staff was excellent, food was the best I’ve had at a conference. So good. But. This is an older facility, built before anyone thought that people in wheelchairs might go out in public. None of the restrooms in public areas had automatic door openers, and the doors are heavy, so you rely on the kindness of strangers to let you in and out. The first guest room I was offered which was stated to be accessible had an ordinary tub with no bench. I was able to get my room changed to one on the 4th floor with a roll-in shower, so be sure to be specific when you book and check in. ALL guest rooms are miles away from the conference center. My maximally accessible room had 3 steep LONG ramps to climb… they were too steep for me- I had to laboriously pull myself in my chair arm over arm using the rail. Door thresholds had a marble piece that required a huge effort to get the chair over. You really need to have a companion to push you or a motorized chair… if you are in a manual chair your stay will be exhausting. Avoid a room on any but the 4th floor - the guest room tower elevators are very tiny and hard to get your chair in and out of. I realize that the hotel can’t remodel around the ramps, but perhaps they could have a few rascal chairs available for independent handicapped guests who don’t have power chairs, since they don’t have ANY rooms that can avoid the long steep ramps. The so-called accessible rooms with ordinary tubs could be made more accessible if they provided a tub transfer bench in those rooms. There’s no excuse for the lack of door openers on the public area bathrooms.…
Overall this was a good spot, not sure if I would classify it as a “resort”. Rooms are outdated but clean and spacious. The tub/toilet area was a bit tight but spacious countertop. The staff was friendly and courteous. The breakfast buffet was really good, except for the coffee. Pool area was nice, large pool. Once again, the facilities are outdated (lockers and pool seating). Bowling alley was small but fun. Golf simulator seemed to have couple glitches but overall, a good time. For the issues: overall lack of enforcement by hotel staff. All hotel staff had masks on. However, most guest would not. Even when checking in, guest wouldn’t have masks on and hotel staff would not say anything. There were signs everywhere reminding guest that masks were mandatory; however most chose to ignore and were not reminded by hotel staff. There was also an overall lack of enforcement at the pool area. There were signs in couple spots clearing stating “no food and no drinks”; however, guests were coming in with coolers and all sort of snacks. The pool area was not supervised at all. Kids did as they pleased (yes, I know it’s on the parents but no one from the hotel approached kids or parents), towels were not replenished at the pool area (in locker rooms, yes) and no one came around to clean it. Once day, there were chips all over one corner of the floor; the other way, there were fragments of pool noodle everywhere (in and out of the pool). I believe it only got cleaned once it closed.…
The Director of catering worked with me throughout the process, took care of every detail, had many helpful suggestions and made the planning process so simple. The evening was flawless beginning with the smooth and friendly check in process at the front desk then the attentive staff throughout the entire evening. Not to mention the food was fabulous with so many wonderful choices on the buffet. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and our guests enjoyed the bowling alley, golf simulator and late-night bar. Looking forward to next year!
Advertised as a Resort but really a dump. Dated old building. Claim to be Covid safe but using it as an excuse for unacceptable accommodations for a “resort/ spa”. Day 1. No soap in the room, hot tub in the “spa” was tepid. Day 2, room not made up had to call for towels. I town for a funeral. Thought we would treat ourselves to some luxury. Should have stayed at the Hampton Inn down the road. Thursday night and music blasting outside our room for some outdoor event. Would definitely not recommend this hotel. Not a resort.
Attended a wedding, stayed overnight and golfed there recently. Helpful/friendly staff, nice room, and fun on the golf course! Food was very good, as was the downstairs bar. Always enjoy my time at Eaglewood with friends. Will continue to recommend!
Love this property. Clean, comfortable, convenient. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The Frank Lloyd Wright inspired architecture is a great nod to the great Chicago architect. The golf course was a great addition to our stay! We look forward to visiting the property the next time we are in the are.
Nice looking place that obviously as been remodeled over the years. The room was large, with nice comfy beds. The bathroom and tub/shower area a bit tight but the vanity/sink area was quite roomy. Of concern, there were no cups to drink water in the room. They did however leave 2 bottles of water, which is fine if there are only two guests staying a room for four. The biggest issues was there was no working Air Conditioning. Even set at 62 it was blowing warm air. When I questioned the front desk they advised that due to COVID they don't put drinking glasses (plastic or otherwise) in the rooms. How is one supposed to rinse their mouth and drink water without cups? As for the overly hot room, I was told that they turn off the AC in the winter months. The front desk clerk told me to open the sliding patio door to cool off the room. Say what? Obviously this place needs a refresher in what it takes to be called a 4 star hotel/resort. I give it two. For what you pay for a night's stay these issues are unacceptable.…
We enjoyed our stay very much! The rooms were spacious, very clean and very nice. The amenities, like the spa, gym and the indoor pool were incredible. Three weddings happen to be going on that Saturday so we enjoyed watching people golf and even watched an outdoor ceremony from the balcony in our room. The rooms offer an incredible view. The grounds are well kept and you have the feeling of being on an island- away from everything. Wonderful outdoor dining with fire pit and live music. Great service & food too. We will be back!
The fact that I even had to ask that question..et's you know this ain't it!!! Nice hotel...but to call this place a resort is a stretch!!! Lots of amentinities...but every amenity is subpar. Pool closes at 7pm. Bowling is below basic...bar is below basic...rooms look like typical $75-$100 a night rooms. It's like they did the bare minimum to upgrade this place from hotel to resort category.
