We have recently just returned from spending 11 days at Niyama over the festive period. We have been travelling to the Maldives for 20 years, mostly always over the festive period, and Niyama is the only island we have ever revisited after having such a fantastic experience the first time, and once again they did not disappoint.
We have two teens (16 and 14) and stayed in two water villas. From the moment we arrived we were asked about what timed we prefer our rooms to be cleaned and without fail our rooms were cleaned twice a day immaculately at exactly those times.
On our very first breakfast my wife expressed that she likes to eat papaya every morning, this was met by “done’ from Chef Pradeep who ensured there was a platter of fruit waiting for us every breakfast - wow. Thank you Chef Santosh for cutting up the fruit and making our nutella crepes every morning, with extra Nutella! A few days in and I tasted the Dosa’s and I immediately was obsessed! after telling Pritesh how good they were he informed Chef Kuran who then made us fresh dosa’s every morning even when we were at a different restaurant! On our 3rd day we met Moses at the Tribal restaurant whom my son still talks about, apparently no one else can cook meat as good as him now! Then there was Chef Adham who we met on the Arabic night, after this he went out of his way to make us fresh plates whenever we saw him! The expert cheffing at this resort speaks volumes along with the attention to detail.
As we had been here before there was a group of staff members who actually remembered us and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed whenever they saw us. It was like being around family! Huge special thanks to Xim, Shaad, Ali, Asso, Faz and Chef Said. You spoilt us graciously, nothing was too much for you right down to the colour of our chips. It was truly heartbreaking to say goodbye to you all.
To celebrate our recent wedding anniversary I had organised a private dinner through our thakaru Zaid. Our chef Rohan not only entertained us with his culinary skills but also his rapping skills, which he happily freestyled for us - our children were ecstatic to say the least! We later found out that Zaid had also arranged a special surprise for us in our villa! It was very sweet. Zaid, you were one of the best thakaru we have ever had, your attention to detail and to us 24/7 was impressive. You listened to our every word with great attent even in our jestful conversations and remembered everything! Our magic genie for sure!
Lastly we wanted to say thank you to Shaan over at water sports who kept our teens busy and looked out for them , we were sorry we didn’t get to say goodbye properly. Thank you Charlie and Redy who made our mocktails perfectly every night (medium sugar). We also had the pleasure of meeting Nao, wow this goodbye was hard - this was more than customer service this was genuine love.
We have finally found our forever island, and if the above wasn’t enough the actual beauty of the island is also breathtaking, yes just like you see in the pics. Just to highlight there is a teens room and you all get personalised bikes also.
P.s Imran the Coconut Man is truly part of the island, make sure you all say hi!
Until the next time Niyama, inshallah.
Junaid

Dear Junaid, Thank you for sharing such a wonderful and detailed review. It brings us immense joy to hear that your second visit to Niyama was as incredible as your first, and that you and your family had a truly memorable holiday with us. I am thrilled to hear that the culinary team, especially Chefs, Pradeep, Santosh, Kuran, and Adham, made your dining experiences exceptional. It's heartwarming to know that the special touches, like the papaya platter and fresh dosas, made each breakfast even more enjoyable. Moses and our team members, including Xim, Shaad,Imran, Ali, Asso, Faz, Chef Said, and Zaid, will be overjoyed to hear your praise and that they made you feel like part of the Niyama family. Your thoughtful words about Zaid, are truly appreciated. His attention to detail and dedication to your experience reflects our commitment to creating personalized and memorable stays for each guest. I’m also glad to know that Shaan and the water sports team kept your teens engaged, and Charlie and Reddy made sure your mocktails were perfect. It sounds like every aspect of your stay was filled with care and attention. Thank you for making Niyama your "forever island." We had an exceptional experience our friends and I we went 2 couples with 5 kids, it was our first time but for our friends it was their third time and we all agreed that Niyama Exceeded the expectations. the hotel location is 50 mins by seaplane from male airport, and it has 2 islands where u move from one to the other with many options for restaurants. From the moment you step out of the sea plane you are captivated with the warm welcoming atmosphere. the check in process was extremely smooth, efficient, and accommodating all our needs and even better.
We took the water pool villas our first time experience, our friends a beach villa, all I can say are immaculate, fresh, and spotless, but I would recommend with kids staying at the beach villa is easier .all rooms have stunning views. each room had a private concierge service accommodating every need and request. we had Yulia and Devron and they were outstanding!!
There are mainly 2 main pools at epicure where we spent most of our time, and blu for mainly more adults didn't like it much.Noting each villa has its own pool .
They have a huge kids club where kids have a program everyday from board surfing to scuba to dancing, mocktail making and much more, and they pick up and can drop off the kids to ur room or where ever they are allowing the parents to relax. The only thing we wish if they had a waterpark that would complete the stay!
They have water activities, that we ended up doing water ski, banana, kayaking and much more. kayaking is for free but everything else is paid. it is expensive I must say, I think prices shall be more adjustable so people can do more of it during their stay. but I also have to point out how safe they took their measurements also.
The food was very good, they have multiple restaurants from meat, to Japanese, to buffets, they even have an underwater restaurant must see! the alacarte menus are way yummier then buffets , we had at blue asian buffet wasn't great but the seafood was very good. We had a private dinner teppanyaki at nest it was great , and tribe also the meat was very good , and mostly all our lunches were at epicure, the pizzas are very good, also u can order from the dine in menu to epicure, like Ceasar salad nicoise and much more I personally don't know why they don't have it on the actual menu. The breakfast buffet was very rich from eggs, pancakes, salads , sushi , and much more.
We setup a private movie night for the kids by the beach also where u can choose from a list of movies, and it was memorable and beautiful.
Overall we had an excellent 5 night stay at Niyama, our kids didn't want to leave so did we. It was relaxing and comfortable. We surely will come back , Yulia and Devron thank you for making our stay so memorable and easy and helping in everyday. 5 star service!!!

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
I can confidently call myself an “expert on Maldives” without any humility, as in my 25 years in the tourism industry, I have visited more than 40 hotels in Maldives. So for my holiday I chose Niyama. My husband and I have been here five times in the last few years... and we will definitely come again! It is objectively the best hotel in Maldives in the category of price-quality!
First of all, of course, the island itself, or rather the island! The hotel consists of 2 islands connected by a bridge and, by local standards, has a very large and, most importantly, stunning territory! This is a true tropical jungle with a huge number of delightful coconut palms (may surprise some, but the Maldives has quite ugly, unscenic island-hotels, overgrown exclusively with deciduous trees and bushes). At the same time, the entire area in Niyama is very well maintained and clean, the paths are sprinkled with snow-white sand, and the shoulders are paved with decorative crushed woodbark! Everyone travels around the island by bicycle, all guests receive their “own means of transportation” with a nameplate on arrival!
And Niyama almost everywhere has a beautiful sea call, and even at low tides you can swim here (which is also quite rare in Maldives).
For those who love and appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the ocean rather than the pool, I recommend booking beach villas. Water villas in Niyama Private Islands stand on a shoal, and even at high tide there is a fairly shallow and rocky bottom.
Niyama Private Islands' second undeniable asset is certainly the kitchen. I think everyone understands that the Maldives is not a gastronomic destination, and that is not why they are coming here, in principle, but this issue is solved perfectly here! Niyama has had Mr. Thierry for 2 years, a French chef who knows how to eat haute cuisine, and believe me, this can be felt in all the hotel's restaurants and bars! By the way, the restaurants here are truly unique - not only very delicious, but also very beautiful and unusual: the hotel has an underwater restaurant, there is a restaurant in the crowns of trees...
Well, the third advantage of Niyama Private Islands Hotel, of course, is the amazing service! The hotel has a great team! All hotel staff are very attentive and helpful. Each villa is assigned a concierge - an assistant to whom you can contact at any time with any question. Special thanks to our wonderful Ammi who was always in touch and responded very quickly and efficiently to all our requests and wishes!
Dreaming of our next holiday in Niyama Private Islands!

A relatively typical (i.e. wonderful) five-star Maldivian property, although compared to other similar resorts in the area that we’ve been to, this one has more variety (and generally better quality) food choices in its many restaurants. Grounds are impeccably maintained, the sand on the beach is sparkling-white and the sea is very welcoming for a swim, although snorkelling options are quite limited as the house reef is quite remote from the beach and is only accessible by boat, ditto the sand bank on the other side of the island. Except for a few design flaws (e.g. no ventilation whatsoever in the smaller bathroom with a fixed window that can’t be opened, no outdoor shower by the pool, a bizarrely pre-programmed a/c system) everything else is in good shape and we found our beach villa a very relaxing place to stay. Our villa butler Zaid was a great host who looked well after us and made our holiday relatively carefree, as he promptly and effectively booked all the meals and activities for us throughout our stay. Bottom line - a reasonably priced (obviously by Maldivian standards) high-quality destination with modern facilities, helpful staff and excellent catering options for every taste. We’ll be back!

I had already vacationed in the Maldives, and when choosing a hotel, it was important for me that the hotel was remote from Male, without breakwaters, a natural island, so that the sand was like flour, beautiful villas on the beach and on the water, and I didn’t consider all-inclusive hotels. Niyama is a fairy tale, I liked everything!!! From meeting to departure. Service at the highest level. Beautiful villas both on the beach and on the water!!! An island on 2 sides with an ideal beach for swimming. On the one hand, it’s not hot, we didn’t leave the ocean from 11.00 to 16.00, we walked along the beach, it’s really cool, it’s not hot, such comfort! The other side is hot, with a wide beach with snow-white sand, and it’s beautiful to go there after 16.00 because the sun goes down there. We had a blast on the beach for 5 days, and for the last 2 days we moved to a water villa, all of them with a pool. We enjoyed these days in the ocean without going to the beach. If you go to the Maldives, be sure to stay in a water villa at the end!!! Niyama is 2 islands, one evening dinner on one, the second evening on the other. We received an invitation to a cocktail party, and the next day to a disco in an underwater restaurant. There was no time to be bored, there was always something to do. Bicycles are assigned to each room (free of charge), cleaning is done 2 times a day, all accessories from flip flops, a beach bag to a toothbrush are included, I won’t list them. Restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served with a beautiful view. Everything is tasty, clean, aesthetically pleasing. Cheeses, red fish, champagne, fresh juice, everything is there! Beautiful people, everything is cultural! You really get a kick out of a vacation where you liked absolutely everything! Many thanks to Butler Dilya and the hotel manager for a wonderful stay!!!

We don't even know where to start. The Resort that more than deserves its stars or with these incredibly friendly, empathetic people who surround you from the heart. Actually, it’s not fair to name just a few names, because every single one deserves an Award there, but our Thakuru Maria accompanied us so unexcitedly professionally over the days or rather spoiled us that we had to fight tears to say goodbye. Hassan made our Villa shine every day and Imran , who always shines , brings the fresh coconut to your own pool. You don't get the feeling once that these people are doing their job there, but rather that we were part of a big family there where they take care of each other. Haf, the likeable and humane manager of the resort or head of this family can be proud of his team.
To get to the material things of the resort, we can only report good things here too. The villas are superbly equipped, the open bathroom is a European's dream - we have not once used the indoor shower - and the pool and outdoor area are a large outdoor living room.
The island is extremely green and the concept of equipping the villas with the personalized bicycles is magnificent. We were only with the parts about the island and enjoyed cruising from one end to the other. The name badges of our bikes, made by our Thakuru Maria herself, we took home as a souvenir.
Culinarily you are spoilt for choice. The offer is extremely varied and the quality of the food really excellent. We have used all available restaurants and are also completely convinced here.
The sporting offer offers almost everything, but since we are pure tennis players we can say little about it. But what we can say is that the tennis court is the best we have been allowed to play on our Trips so far ( and we have already used some tennis courts of comparable resorts ). The place is located at the end of the island where surfers also have their paradise, surrounded by greenery. It is an artificial turf pitch which is maintained 1a. And then we have the unique Dan. Dan is the local tennis coach and we not only got along brilliantly and laughed a lot, but also met a valuable person whose encounter we would not have wanted to do without.
There are a thousand other things to report, but just fly there and get those beautiful experiences yourself. But we can also recommend the private cinema night in the open air with the gentle wave noise in the background and depending on the film this can be really romantic.
And if you think it's no better to surprise a Maria to say goodbye, with a "private " sunset on the beach with sparkling wine and canapés. And there it is again to have experienced this feeling something eerily beautiful and valuable.
We say thank you to the wonderful Niyama team !
Best regards Markus and Suzanne

We came to this beautiful hotel as a big family. We were met at the hotel by friendly staff. I especially want to say a big thank you to Julia, who created the perfect conditions for her time on the island. Thanks to Julia, it was incredibly convenient that you could not think about arranging leisure time, both for adults and our children. Hotel beyond praise, beaches, villas, breakfasts, restaurants, everything was thrilling. Especially rich breakfasts with a glass of sparkling and a variety of fresh fruit, and there was even buckwheat porridge for the kids. Restaurant Nest, generally an unusual place, must visit. In-room cleaning twice a day, daily plate of fresh chopped fruit and unlimited specialty ice cream. There are some interesting living reefs in the waters of the hotel. You can get masks and snorkelling snorkels at the local dive centre. The dream is to return to this hotel again.

We’ve just spent a wonderful holiday in paradise! Niyama is just bliss. Throw away your shoes and your wrist watch because you won’t use either here. From the moment you land island life takes over! We were super lucky to have Zaid as our Thakuru (butler); his swave manner, always chilled and super efficient, wonderfully kind and well educated allowed for us to be totally relaxed throughout, because he had it all sorted. He was extremely kind with the kids and very engaging with them. Constantly with a smile and happy word, he really made our holiday feel like home. Niyama has multiple restaurants and some pop ups during the week: of them Blu, Epicure Tribal and Nest were the ones we used and all their menus are delicious. A massive thank you to all the chefs and servers who made every meal a wonderful experience. Explorers Kids Club is amazing, we had trouble getting our kids back! The team really takes special care of the kids & of the kids are happy, we’re happy! They do everything from crafting, baking, stories, games, sports, dolphin trips and snorting for the older kids. They can’t wait to go back next year! There is a great maintenance team, Christmas came alive with all the lights and decorations and the pathways are perfectly manicured (the recycled coconut sits perfectly against the sandy path) and they are easy to cycle on, but of course your Thakuru is also on hand if you need a buggy ride. Like footprints in the sand Niyama and the wonderful people who work there have left an impression on us, it’s no surprise we are booking to return next year!

The vacation went great! I would like to commend Julia for her work, a very open, soulful and beautiful girl who took care of our carefree vacation. It was my birthday during my vacation, all day from the hotel were pleasures in the form of greetings from the staff at breakfast, decorating the bed in the room, promenade at sunset on the beach with snacks and champagne. Of course, it was Yulia who organized all this, thank her separately it was very nice. Also on the island you will be offered free coconuts, sociable Imran from Cambodia, speaks a little Russian. The girls from the kids club thank you very much, always do something new with the child (baking cupcakes, going to see dolphins, excursions to the underwater restaurant for children, crafts and more) in the room you will offer free slippers for the whole family that are very comfortable and do not need to bring shales, free snorkelling kits for children and adults, tennis, badminton, free kayak rides, sapa, bikes for the whole family. It is very convenient that the beach always serves water, SPF cream, and facial spray water. Every day there's free ice cream in the room and there's a popcorn machine with grains (kids really like it) I think we haven't tried everything even though we've been here two weeks.

Our NIYAMA experience wasn't just about the resort.. It started from the airport as soon as our plane landed we were guided to the lounge to await our plane. After a roughly 50min flight to the resort we were greeted by very friendly staff including what turned out to be the greatest butler of all time, Shanun.
The resort is extremely well-maintained, the staff are friendly and incredibly accommodating. Our butler Shanun took care of every tiny detail, making all our arrangements without having to be asked, and suggesting things for us to do and great places to take photos etc.
Our beach villa was great, we would have preferred the toilet to be inside the main area of the room but that's a small critique. Frankie and his team did a wonderful job with housekeeping and all the restaurant staff greet you with the warmest smiles whenever you sit down to eat at the many restaurants or bars.
Overall we had an absolutely wonderful experience and would like to thank all the staff at Niyama for a great experience and especially Shanun for making our trip truly unforgettable.
