We have just returned from a truly stunning holiday at Anantara Kihavah and are desperately trying to dream up ways to return as quickly as possible. It is without doubt the best holiday we have enjoyed as a family of four (2 adults and 2 children). We had been looking forward to this holiday for well over a year and it came with huge expectations, which all too often end up unfulfilled, but I can happily say that all those expectations were exceeded. The island is exactly what we were looking for - very natural, authentic, relaxed, as private as you would wish, with exemplary service. We loved being able to cycle amongst the palm trees and did this often, even when we didn't really have anywhere to go. We split our holiday between a beach villa and a water villa and really enjoyed both. The beach villas are incredibly private and the pools are large. The beach was invariable empty and although the resort was full when we stayed it never felt that way - we almost always were able to book dining or other experiences on our own terms. We did sunset fishing, turtle snorkelling, dolphin watching, diving, lunch at Sea and many many hours of snorkelling around the island and we loved all of them. The experience at Sea (the underwater restaurant) was magical and the children spend most of the meal in awe. We tried all the restaurants and the food was really top notch - while not included in the half board we particularly enjoyed the food at Fire the Japanese restaurant. We found the half board options were on the whole very varied - there were relatively few supplements and plenty to choose from without paying extra. Children under 12 have complimentary meals including lunch which was a welcome surprise. One of the main criteria we used when choosing an island was the availability of a house reef and we were not disappointed. We saw every type of fish imaginable and were lucky enough to snorkel with sharks, turtles and stingrays all on the house reef which was very easily accessible from the beach outside the dive centre. My wife and I both used the gym which is open 24 hours a day and has all the equipment you would need with the exception of a rowing machine. The children spent most days with us, but did use kids clubs a few times and the staff there were amazing. I cannot fail to mention the villa host concept - this is such a great aspect to the stay. We were allocated a villa host (Sittu) who met us in the speedboat from the seaplane and was by our side (when needed) for the rest of the holiday. He made an effort to regularly check in (how he always seemed to find us I'll never know) whether we had asked him for something or not and was always ready with a buggy if we decided not to cycle or if there was a heavy downpour. If it did rain he would make sure the bikes were back outside the villa when we needed them. We were very sad to say goodbye to him and the island at the end of the holiday (there were tears in the seaplane) and we would return tomorrow if we could.

Hotel's Favorite
We chose Anantara Kihavah Maldives for our yearly Maldives trip due to the TripAdvisor reviews and the availability of tennis courts (we are keen players) which were available on the three other resorts we visited in the Maldives. We were greeted directly off the plane using the “CIP service” which we have always used as so much nicer. We then flew in the small plane to the islands being greeted by drums the island Manager and our to-be “Villa Host “ Ifoo and a welcome drink and photo shoot at the entrance sign, which would be better taken later I felt as we were very tired, sweaty and worn out. We had chosen a beach villa as we had such a great experience in a beach villa at the last resort, we had stayed at Huvafen Fushi in February 2023. But we soon realised the mosquitoes were out all day and night and we got bitten a lot. My Husband got night fever and it was impossible to open the doors on either side of the villa as the humidity was so high the room turned into a skating rink and dripped with water from the air con. The main issue was the outside bathroom, which looked so lovely in the pictures but with no air con it turned into a mission. We are at the age we have to go to the bathroom a few times during the night and you took your life into your hands with the mosquitoes. The water in the private pool in the villa was very cold as no sun could warm it due to the foliage. The beach sunbeds were so hot and had a great view of the sunset. Snorkelling on the beach in front of the villa was achievable but, sadly, it was almost completely lacking in sea life, so you had to bike to the dive centre area on the other side of the island. We asked to be moved to an overwater villa as which was a dream and we wished we had booked this originally. They are more spacious, more attractive, and more private and the bathroom was inside “phew” and lovely. The only annoying thing was that the bathroom had no air con just a fan overhead. I have never been to a Maldives villa with no air con in the bathroom, so it was a bit of an “oh my” moment. But it was a dream compared to the beach villa. And no more mosquitoes. The room move was made seamless by Ifoo our Villa Host, who knew how I liked everything “just so” and he was amazing at putting all my bits and bobs in the right places and carefully hung all my clothes as I had hung them. It was amazing we had breakfast while ifoo and his team moved us to the new Villa. Thank you Ifoo we were so much happier and got to see the dolphins on our first day in the new room in the sea in front of the villa many times which was another special moment. We are keen gym people as well as tennis and the gym is ok, but not much of a view, sadly. The toilets and the changing room have no air con so it was not pleasant they were so hot and humid. We played a lot of tennis and as there was no air con changing facilities it was not so pleasant. The court needs upgrading as not in great condition. The Tennis coach Andrea was wonderful, and I learnt a lot from him and am now putting it into practice I hope, Thank you, Andrea We booked a full day onboard the Ocean Whisper, the resort's private yacht, it was divine and with staff to look after our every need, we had wine, beer and a lovely lunch all served by the onboard staff. We were taken to two reefs to snorkel, where saw many turtles which was so lovely, and then went to find dolphins much to our joy we got to see a few swimming beside the yacht, and this made our day perfect. The Observatory is a must if you can, we had a private viewing and it was amazing seeing all the stars and planets and a wonderful, guided explanation of the solar system, with wine and some tapas food to add to the whole wonderful experience. The restaurants - Manzaru -Italian was very nice, and we ate here a few times during our two-week stay. Plates – is breakfast which was great it was available up to 11 am and had a huge variety and if something was not there you wanted just to ask it will appear. All is beautifully laid out and the staff were excellent. Spice –Asian This was our favourite and ate here many times during our stay and had our last meal a lobster, all was beautifully prepared and served by the excellent staff. Fire-Japanese, we ate here once only as the main Fire was under refurbishment, they had located the restaurant temporally above Manzaru, the food was limited and the atmosphere not so good, so that was a shame, we would have loved to have seen the finished new restaurant. Sky- A lovely sundowner bar, it is truly beautiful and has a great selection of cocktails and wines etc., worth going to see the beautiful sunsets, again the staff were excellent.. Sea- The underwater restaurant, is a must at least once .. we went twice because they had a guest chef experience and we enjoyed this very much, the food is very fine dining. We were shown the Sea restaurant by Ifoo in the daytime before we left, and the views of the fish and coral were amazing. The Snorkelling – We went most days, around the dive centre, on the house reef and it is excellent, in fact one of the best we’ve swum in the Maldives. We saw lots of fish and rays which was amazing so close to you. The People- My favourite bit of a review, as if there are issues… if you have the right people around you none of it really matters and that is the case at Anantara Kihavah, We had so many lovely people who made it all special for myself and my husband, they will stay in our memories forever... Ifoo of course our Villa Host who would just appear from nowhere, always smiling, and make everything happen .. I can’t thank you enough you were perfect you made sure were very well cared for all our requests were taken care of so quickly and seamlessly. Riza- Our Villa attendant in the beach Villa who made everything beautiful and soon got to know what we needed and how we liked things left. Haneez -Our Villa attendant in the Overwater Villa was excellent, he got to know what we needed and how we wanted things left out, so it was lovely. Muiz, Zimbe, Ali, Amie, Waheed, and Baba were the standouts of the many restaurant staff who looked after us so beautifully, and got to know very quickly what we wanted and how many coffees to bring my husband in the morning and beers in the evening. All were attentive, kind and always so welcoming with a sunny smile each morning or evening, you all made a difference to our holiday and made us feel very special, we will always remember you all. Maurice the Manager Was around most days and very easy to chat to. I found out he had only been on the island a few months and was already making a difference and was certainly open to ideas to improve the resort. Many of the above issues we faced I told him about and seemed receptive to making the improvements. All said we loved our time at Kihavah and met so many lovely people working there, and as we left I said to Ifoo it's the people that make a holiday perfect and I cannot fault that at all the people who work there are kind happy people and only want to make your holiday the best it can be. Ifoo Thank you so much for making our holiday the best alongside your many colleagues. Go and discover Kihavah, the “Young Coconut” 🥥

This was our first visit to the Maldives, and Kihavah, and it certainly won't be the last! we have never been anywhere with such an amazing mix of quality, laid back atmosphere, attentive service without being in your face. It was so relaxing from the moment we arrived, hardly wearing footwear for the whole trip, yet eating phenomenal food, with excellent service. The team really do make the experience what it is. Everyone is lovely and friendly, but very good at what they do also. We had the time of our lives, thank you Maurice and the team for making this such a special place.

We’ve been to the Maldives a few times. What stands out at Anantara Kihavah for me is the absolutely amazing house reef, easily accessible from our beach villa, and the food, particularly at Spice, and at the incredible underwater restaurant, Sea. My husband and kids enjoyed the boxing training, whilst I steered well clear of the gym and enjoyed snorkeling in peace! All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, particular thanks to Harnie, our villa host, Sheila, the boxing coach, Executive Chef Joachim who would always stop by for a chat (he has been on some fascinating travels!), the team at the Kids Club and Maria who took both our children out diving, giving them the best time!

We did a lot of research before we finally selected Anantara Kihava Villas for our once in a lifetime family holiday in the Maldives. The reality was far beyond our hopes and dreams. The island is small and intimate with only 80 villas, and although it was at capacity during our Easter stay, it never felt crowded. The staff are the jewels in the crown: gracious and dignified, with a warm smile and a hand on heart gesture at every encounter. Our villa host, Zidhan, was a legend, responding immediately to any request. We stayed initially in a beach villa, then a planned move to an over-water villa: both were exceptional, spacious, and elegant accommodations. The dining was at Michelin star level at all the restaurants. The sea life was so diverse: snorkeling onto the reef a few meters off the beach we could see turtles, rays, sharks, octopus on almost any occasion, and countless fish species. Our boys experienced scuba sessions on the Bubblemaker course for the first time. We also went on jet-ski excursions to deserted islands, a dolphin cruise (large pods of Bottlenose and Spinner dolphins), a Champagne sunset cruise on the house yacht (more dolphins), fine dining at the underwater restaurant Sea, a Gala event on the beach, and a star gazing evening at the Observatory. This was truly the best holiday ever, elevated by the wonderful Anantara people: sincere thanks to Zidhan, Baba, Benz the magic tepanyaki chef at Fire, Sofiya, Hafiz, Shameem, Linde, Nuria, Tas, and Maurice.

I usually dont write reviews (even though I read a lot of them), but I felt like I needed to let one for the amazing experience I had at Kihavah! Its not an easy travel from Brazil, definitely not a cheap one, either, but it worth every effort we put into it and I would definitely go back there a thousand times. Went there with my wife and my almost 3-year-old kid and we loved pretty much everything: the restaurants, the activities, the pool, the breakfast, the underwater restaurant (my kid loved it), the stargazing experience, and all the attention you put to the small details! We literally felt like home there and, with that regard, I must thank Azmeen big time, for everything he made for us during our stay! Thank you guys so much for the lovely memories you provided for me and my family.

There is no limitless adjective able to actually describe the experience. Location, facilities, service, nature, leisure activities, dining, all just absolutely stunning...and it was not the first time in the Maldives. This place beats all of the highest expectations with the reef just at a stone's throw from your overwater villa. A particular mention to our caring & attentive villa host Jambe, to the fantastic world traveller chef Joachim, and to the F&B manager Arun, champion of dining events. Grazie, Gracias to the whole Kihavah Team. Alessandro & Cristobal

An unforgettable experience! We stayed in beautiful villa with incredible coral reefs teeming with fish. The Maldives can be challenging for finding a variety of delicious restaurants, but this resort excelled, especially with its Asian cuisine. A huge thank you to our butler, Piyal, who made our holiday truly special. His attentiveness to detail and willingness to go the extra mile were outstanding. We highly recommend this resort!

After many visits to the Maldives, this was by far the best! From the moment we arrived right through to leaving, everything was perfect. When the sea plane landed at the island, and after a short boat ride to the jetty, we were welcomed by the resort manager Maurice, our villa host Harnie, as well as other staff members with Maldivian drums, coconut drinks, and a brief tour of the island/facilities on our way to our water villa. At that point we knew we were in good hands. We stayed in an over-water villa, which was lovely, our own private pool and sun deck with amazing views across the lagoon out across the reef. The reef and marine life, around the island is second to none, we would recommend taking up the snorkelling and diving opportunities, as these should not be missed. We were also impressed with the work the team are doing in caring for, preserving and re-generating the reef. One of the stand-out aspects of the resort is the food - we tried all restaurants including Plates, Manzaru, Spice, Fire and Sea, and without exception each exceeded expectation. The executive chef Joachim and his team produce superb dishes and delights from cuisines around the world. The Asian buffet and fine-dining in the Sea restaurant were particular highlights. The observatory is also a "must-do" experience, looking at the stars and planets through the telescope with expert guidance was a magical evening. We also loved the Sky bar, especially for the sun-sets. Our over-riding memory of Kihavah will undoubtedly be the staff, who made us feel so welcome where nothing was too much trouble. To name a few - Harnie, Reji, Sugar, Susa, Vignesh, Radio, Saad, Amel, Vishnu - thank you all! Thanks Kihavah, we look forward to seeing you again soon!

We are difficult, critical and fussy persons. We've travelled much of the world. This 4th time back in Maldives (4 Seasons, Waldorf, Ritz Carlton), took the adult kids and their children. We just can't fault it. The jungle is the most enthralling, providing great shadow in an otherwise bright place. The kids club staffed with loving and caring professionals. The consistentaly extraordinary food and even better cuisine. Best arrabiata I ever ate. Nothing was missing. Extra spacious rooms, allowing privacy. Smiling sweet staff, can't anticipate more. Just totally enchanting. Village and island are compact, authentic . Reasonable pricing and intelligent terms considering what one gets. Nothing was missing. All staff was great. Maybe the best familiy vacation ever. Adult children with babies and toddlers also unanimous in praise and sorrow to go home. Humbling. Bravo
