The island is an absolute postcard from heaven! We arrived 10 days ago (and still on the island while writing this review) to some moderate weather which turned into an acute depression, which lasted for a whole week and a bit more. Maldives is really terrible when the weather turns however this isn't the islands fault. The staff and the service made up for it. We arrived in a seaplane from Male, although there was a slight delay we were chilling at the C&C lounge in Male airport, where we were given complimentary refreshments. The transfer to the island was smooth and checkin was already completed in the lounge so were transferred directly to our water villa (sunset jacuzzi) with direct access to the lagoon which was heavenly. We had a bit of a sun when we arrived so we quickly unpacked and got into the water. We saw, Mantas, clown fish, reef sharks and many other sea life! the corals isn't that amazing but still was great. The Island was kept spotlessly clean by the staff who worked day and night to clean. We had a massive storm of wind upto 60 mph, it was scary as our water villa was shaking all night. Our island host Unaish however (he will share his whatsapp with you upon arrival) kept close contact with us to make sure we were alright. If there's any need just whatsapp your island host and everything will be delivered to you! Food was excellent compared to the other Maldivian resorts we stayed in. Chef Gilbert made sure we liked what we were served and he is always around if you are not satisfied with something. Menu was varied and live stations were incredible, from pastas to burgers, to fish fillets, fajitas, nasi goreng, noodles, you name it. The buffet had an incredible combination of all cuisuines from European to indian to Far east which caters for all palates. Overall this is a 4.5 out of 5 for me. Thanks to chef Gilbert and his team. Our roomboy Riyaz was an absolute legend. The kept our room spotlessly clean and made sure we are happy. There's a nespresso machine in your room and if you want extra capsules, just ask Riyaz! Although we didn't get to snorkel much, the reef was still amazing, blue waters and the sandbank was amazing! when we finally got to see the sun it was paradise. Blue waters and white soft sand it felt like a little piece of heaven. We went Full board, as we are not heavy drinkers but that was more than enough for us. We had a couple of beers and wine during lunch/dinner and that ended up being a lot cheaper than AI. Beer was $5.99/glass, which is what you would expect to pay in Australia. Remember they have to import everything but this is not overly expensive like some other resort which charges $10 for it. So if you are not a heavy drink FB is worth it as i think US$100/pp per day is a bit high. The island had 2 bars, which were wonderful, although we never used it, cause it was cloudy all the time. Maybe next time. While we vowed to be back next year, we made the reservation on the spot. We had the sunset jacuzzi water villa but we never got to see the sunset :( Lets hope we have better luck with the weather next year and we get to see the island in it's full glory. Special mention to Unaish, who was kind enough to grant us a late check out as our flight was delayed till 2100 but we switched to the other side of the island. I can now confirm, the sunset side is better!! He also took care of my reservation next year. Also special mention to the staff in the main dining…
We came came here for our Honeymoon, and it was everything we could have ever hoped for! It is obvious from the moment you arrive to this resort island that you are in for a beautiful vacation. The resort makes you feel right at home from the start. You are encouraged to be relaxed by walking barefoot, and allowing the staff to literally handle anything for you. We found it very convenient to not even have to make phone calls or look for any staff when needing something, we simply messaged over WhatsApp. The hotels gardens, pools, and beaches are gorgeous. The food was delicious, and was filled with varieties, we felt no need to even visit the alternative restaurant. The waters were dazzlingly blue with pristine white sand beaches. The host we were assigned to was Rifau, he was so helpful and kind to answer any questions, or needs we had during our stay. The resort handled all the accommodations in regards to Covid testing for departure. Last but not least the Jacuzzi Bungalow Villa is a must during this stay!…
We went to Veligandu at the beginning of May 2022, to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. We couldn't have made a better choice. The island is beautiful, with clean sands and well-kept gardens. All common spaces, restaurants, bars, spa and others are very well maintained. We stayed in a water villa with a jacuzzi and it was fantastic, they are very spacious, with simple but tasteful decor. Room cleaning is done twice a day which provides us with additional comfort. All the staff is extremely professional, attentive and friendly, they try their best to make our stay really incredible.
Veligandu is the Secluded Island and is a haven for people who want to get away from the daily grind. With few distractions, romance, water-sports, spa treatments, dining and sunbathing are the order of the day. If that small list of options floats your boat, then the Veligandu experience is just the ticket. We cannot wait to return.
The hotel resort Veligandu is simply amazing, the whole island is super clean, the rooms are perfect and the staff is just awesome and super friendly. The food is also delicious and the bars offer amazing drinks and snacks as well. The hotel resort is 100% recommended.
My wife and I stayed at Veligandu Island for two weeks. It was a trip which was originally planned for our 50th birthdays but due to covid 2 cancellations later we finally got their. We flew with Emirates via Dubai which was a brief 2 hour change over (more on Emirates in a separate review!). After arriving in Male we were taken to the sea plane port to await our transfer. This was a great little lounge I believe for Veligandu and the rest of the hotel group which had complimentary drinks whilst you wait for your tranfser. Sadly in our case that transfer took in excess of 3 hours to arrive.. apparently it was waiting for other people on internaltional flights which hadn't even landed! This we thought was pretty poor.. waiting that amount of time (along with others) to take a 15 minute flight. They should have really sent the plane with the people that were there and the remaining 3 people on a second transfer later in our opinion. Anyhow on arrival to Veligandu the check in was smooth, and we were quickly taken to our room with a whirlwind tour of the island on the way. We stayed in room 140 which was a sunset jacuzzi villa. The villa was very well equipped and very clean (a bonus for us from the UK was that our electricals are supported without the need of any adapters!). The views are fabulous, and the island as a whole is very well maintained. The staff are all so friendly, everybody you pass will acknowledge you with a greeting appropriate to the time of day and nothing is too much trouble for any of them. Our room boy Abdulla gets a special shout out, he looked after us, and our room during the stay and went out of his way to make it pleasant with lots of little touches (Towel art etc). We stayed full board, my wife and I don't drink alcohol so decided not to use all inclusive. We only ate in the main buffet restaurant but the food in there was of a very high quality in both presentation and taste. There was something for all but the fussiest of eaters and a good variety which (mostly) repeated on a weekly basis. The Al la carte i'm sure would have been very very good, but for us it seems a little too expensive at ~ $200 per couple (having already paid for a meal in the buffet). This was not our first time to the Maldives so we didn't feel the need to eat on the beach etc as we've already done that. The wife used the Gym a few times during our stay and commented how well equipped it actually was for a small size. We were mostly there for the snorkelling and to relax and we weren't disappointed in any regard with either of those two things.. the snorkelling is great right off the beach. I'm sure other will say there are better locations, but for us.. it was wonderful with time flying past without you noticing. There's a good variety of fish, and in the lagoon near the sandbank we managed on a few occasions to swim with the turtles. On several occasions we saw pods of dolphins pass by but we were never in the water at the right time to be close to them. There are a few area's around the island where the current can at times be quite strong so best to check in with the water sports centre if you need advice on that. Life jackets were free to use, but I'm not sure the snorkel masks/fins were we took our own so can't confirm that.. but we think you have to rent those (or buy in the shop). It appeared even the snorkelling trip didn't actually include the use of snorkelling equipment? at least that's how the information read but again we can't confirm that. The weather whilst we were there was mixed, some days the sea was like a mill pond no waves or current to speak of, and others quite wild with higher winds which made snorkelling only for the brave (no us!). Our stay was from 20th April 2022 for information. We didn't really have much contact with the staff in the bars but they always seemed to be flitting around the pool and up and down the beach with drinks and as we say everyone we spoke to was very friendly. There were times we felt like the only people on the island, is very quiet during the day which we like.. so if your looking for snorkelling and relaxing with great food, friendly staff and stunning views in impeccably kept grounds then Veligandu may well be for you. The only little niggles for us were that the meal times (during Ramadan) seemed close together for breakfast/lunch and quite a delay for dinner so this did make you aware of the time more than I'd usually like to watch. We did in fact miss lunch one day in the buffet as whilst snorkelling you lose track of time, but you are able to eat in the snack bar (some of which is included for those on the all inclusive). I think maybe having a little longer period for lunch would allow a little more flexibility, but its only a little niggle and not that big an issue. The only other thing would be if not on the all inclusive eating in the al la carte doesn't seem particularly good value (for us), but if your on the all inclusive plan its a no brainer. All in all we would highly recommend Veligandu and have great memories from there. There were lots of repeat visitors and we can see why that would be the case. We don't usually return to the same resorts as the world is a big place.. and discovering it is what we like but never say never ;-)…
I loved the resort and would strongly recommend it to anyone. Beach is clean all the time, sea is clear, and staff are amazing. I really can’t wait to go back, me and my partner are thinking of making regular trip there.
Our experience for our honeymoon was absolutely perfect from start to finish. This place really is a slice of heaven! You will not be disappointed! The beauty of the beaches, the views and the stunning surroundings are just wonderful, along with the amazing service of the staff throughout. Our island host Hussain was super helpful and kept in touch with us throughout our stay. The jacuzzi sunset villa was amazing, the view and the access to the clear blue lagoon was great! We had great snorkelling just outside our villa, there’s a beautiful world under there! The jacuzzi was ideal to watch the sunset in! The villa was kept spotless by our attendant Shahid who was so attentive. We also received complimentary champagne, Prosecco, room decor and a cake for our honeymoon, which was lovely. Every aspect of our trip was brilliant, the island is so well kept, clean and the relaxing vibe is maintained throughout. All the staff were always friendly, polite and helpful, including all the chefs, waiters and the upkeep team. Elisa in particular stood out, she even remembered our names, which was very sweet. The buffet at the dhonveli restaurant was fantastic, there is so much choice for every meal, great range of cuisines, the attention to detail and the quality of food was brilliant. We really enjoyed the food stations. We also had a 3 course a la carte meal at the madivaru restaurant, everything was delicious. The pool and bar area are great, lots of towels, seating types, and a range of sun loungers. There is enough for everyone! I loved the infinity pool - stunning views of the beach from here. It took a couple of days to get over the jet lag, then we were in pure relaxation mode! We had a massage at the spa - it was worth every penny, so relaxing and kickstarted our trip! We just wish we could have stayed longer, the resort is truly fantastic and we cannot wait to return!…
We have recently just returned from a fabulous stay at Veligandu Island Resort and Spa. We stayed in a sunrise water villa and was looked after by our room boy Abdulla - thank you. The food was marvellous with plenty of variety, the biggest decision of the day was what to eat as all of it was delicious. We mainly relaxed on the sandy beach during the day and snorkelled from near our sunbeds. Moussa ensured we were hydrated and had enough refreshments all day with plenty of humour. The waiting staff in the dining room also very attentive. The shop was well stocked and had things you might have forgotten as well as souvenirs. A wonderful time was had and we would love to return. It certainly was paradise.
We have just come back, and wish we were still there. It started with an exciting seaplane ride, the weather was warm and hot. Our water villa was beautiful, everything you could wish for. You don’t need towels or shampoo etc. It’s keot very clean and you feel so spoilt. The island reef s amazing, saw so many different marine animals and fish. The dolphins swam by one breakfast. All inclusive package is excellent, you get a lot. Food is imaginative, tasty, lots of choice. Al a carte well worth a visit. Gardens beautiful, nice pool, WiFi good. And the people so kind and helpful. You will feel totally special and spoilt. I would definitely go again, in a heart beat.
