Hotel's Favorite
This was without doubt the most amazing holiday we have ever had. The island is breathtakingly stunning. You can walk all the way round the edge. The sand is beautifully perfect and the sea so clear and full of all sizes of colourful fish. We opted for a beach villa which was fantastic. It had its own area of beach with its own sunbeds and parasol. The sand around the villa was raked daily and pristine. The villa had an outside terrace with two more sunbeds and a table and chairs. The bedroom/living area was huge. Enormous and very comfortable bed. There were tea and coffee making facilities. We had opted for all inclusive so there was red, white and rosé wine, soft drinks, juices, beers, chocolate and snacks all replenished as you used them. For me, the best bit was the bathroom! This was actually outside. It was high-walled for privacy and had a partial roof. The shower was enormous and there were twin sinks with a huge mirror. At the end of the enormous bathroom was a raised area with two more sunbeds and a large jacuzzi. Showering outside with the sound of the birds and the luxurious complimentary toiletries was absolute bliss. The food at Veligandu was out of this world. I have been to many fine hotels but this surpassed them all. Everyone connected with the restaurant was highly professional, friendly and completely committed to the amazing experience they delivered. The waiters were very friendly and very efficient. The Maitre d' was always visible and welcoming and everything was flawless. The chefs were often out too and everyone was completely concerned with the customer's satisfaction. Amazing! The food was incredible. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was included. The choice was stunning. Meal's in the Dhonveli buffet restaurant are self-service: the clues in the name! We stayed for ten nights and we didn't notice a pattern. I'm a reasonably fussy eater but every day there were so many options. The quality and presentation was perfect. We ate so well: a disaster for the waistline. Wine is served by the glass as well as bottles of water and any other drink you may fancy. Desserts are beautiful and delicious. Can't praise the food enough. Curries with fresh poppadoms and breads: parathas and chapatis, fish, pastas, meats, all kinds of vegetables and salads beautifully prepared. All nationalities of cuisine - Indian, Chinese, Maldivian, European, Thai and on and on. Fresh bread, cheese, preserves, cakes, ice creams, cookies, fruit - just amazing. Every five days you are treated to a meal in the Madivaru a la carte restaurant. The standard of the Dhonveli was so high, we were a little afraid to go but it did not disappoint. You choose your menu the morning of and the food was again excellent and exquisitely prepared. The beauty here is that you eat right on the beach by the sea. Absolutely beautiful. We were on a very special trip for our 30th Wedding anniversary and my husband's 60th birthday so we also had two BBQ beach dinners for the two occasions. This was incredible. A special table on the water's edge surrounded by lights in the sand and the table and chairs adorned with flowers and ribbons. It was the stuff of dreams. I also arranged a champagne breakfast at our villa which we had on our terrace and was particularly wonderful. You are assigned a member of staff as a point of contact and you can ask any questions you may have or book anything you need through them via WhatsApp. Ours was Zaheen and he arranged everything perfectly for us. Included in the stay was a snorkeling lesson. I highly recommend this. I cannot describe my amazement at the number and variety of fish in the reef around Veligandu Island. A little terrifying in some ways but mind blowing and one of the best experiences of my life. Nothing can prepare you for what you find below the surface. Even a shark - very chilled, swimming past minding his own business (thankfully) Stunning parrot fish who looked like they had dentures but provide the beautiful white sands and then fish of every size, pattern and colour exactly as per the Maldives fish information cards they sell in the gift shop. We also did kayaking always a team work challenge for us as a couple but we survived. Also included is a windsurfing lesson which unfortunately we didn't manage to have as there was no wind on the day we had booked. Also part of the package was a free photoshoot which I decided to spare the world but lovely for honeymooners and an amazing sunset cruise to see the dolphins. This was incredible. The crew were so friendly and informative and I have never seen so many dolphins in my life. Spoiler alert- the dolphins already know how to do triple flips in the wild and love to show you. They are so lovely. Veligandu also has two bars. There are seats outside and in. The restaurants and bars have sand on the floors which is very cool. The included cocktail list is extensive and includes all the favourites Pina colada, negroni, mai tai, daiquiris, etc etc. We went off piste a couple of times when we fancied Aperol spirtzs but you really don't need to. The main bar is full of sofas and the table service is extremely attentive. An amazing place to watch the sunset. Dress here is casual. It is respectful to be dressed and covered in the restaurant but t shirts, shorts and beach kaftans were all fine. A mixture for the evening. Men mainly wore shorts and shirts or t shirts and ladies dressed up a little more. They was a real mixture. I opted for dresses because that's part of the fun for me but you would be equally comfortable in a playsuit or shorts. The relaxed vibe was the real beauty. I've never felt comfortable so quickly anywhere before. Only thing I brought and enjoyed not needing was shoes. You can go barefoot or just in flip flops or sandals. Bliss. To get to Veligandu you take the sea plane. This was the highlight for me. I've had a flying lesson so was beyond thrilled to be near the cockpit twice. The pilots are barefoot. You take off and land on the water. The journey takes you over beautiful islands you've only dreamt of before and I LOVED it. So to summarise, this was expensive but the absolute treat of a lifetime and I cannot praise it enough. I'm grateful and humbled to have had the chance in life to visit somewhere so very beautiful.

Reef accessable from beach. Water always around villas. Soft sand. Plenty of reef fish. Snorkelled the house reef and saw manta (seasonal) , eagle ray, reef sharks, turtles, octopus and moray eels to name a few.

Nice resort. You get to experience every aspect of the holiday on the Maldives at a reasonable rate: journey by sea-plane, being greeted by the resort personel with the drums, secluded heaven like resort with wonderful clean beaches and tropical vegetation, wonderful coral reef all arround with beutiful fishes, staying in the water villa. if you have never been to the Maldives, choose this resort. You will not regret it for a second.

We are visiting for a third time, and hope to come again after renovations. In fact this is one of a few select places that we have recommended to our friends and family. Many thanks for all the wonderful memories and we will miss you during the closure.

Just back from another great trip to Veligandu. This is our 4th time and hope to make it 5 in 2025 once the refurbishment is complete. Holiday was very relaxing, staff were lovely and very efficient. Food quality was excellent and very varied. Accommodation was very comfortable. Can’t quite explain why we keep going back there is just something about the place. We have been to the Maldives 15 times in total but this is the only island we have been to more than once. Thank you to everyone at Veligandu who works so hard to give us a lovely holiday.

This was our first time to Veligandu but hopefully it will not be our last! Words can't describe how beautiful and amazing this island is. From start to finish all our expectations were met. All staff were friendly and food was exceptional! We really hope to return in the future. Just a really big thank you to our host Cynthia and Mahmood who looked after our room daily. Best holiday we've been on, pristine white powdery sand beaches, great accommodation, out of the world service (the staff go out of their way to make your stay memorable, special call outs to Hussein our Snorkeling guide, Ramesh and Suresh, amazing chef's, Naif the island host and front office, Aazam at the restaurant and many more) The house reef is fantastic, lots of colourful fish, turtles, plenty of reef sharks, sting rays, Eagle Rays, eels around.. Amazing excursions too, Wonder Rock is 5 mins away, it's like swimming in an aquarium full of colourful fishes, Manta Rays are 5 mins away as well, if you are a diver, Hammerhead point is close by also In all, if you want to experience the best of Maldives, this place comes very highly recommended, I just can't praise it enough
