My husband and I have stayed at Alice’s house several times now. The owners have done a wonderful job of creating a warm and welcoming environment. We were spoiled with delicious homemade breakfasts each morning and homemade cookies in the evening. My husband mentioned one morning that he liked biscuits and gravy and Joan made them for us the next day. How cool is that! Joan and Dave provide great conversation and are a great resource of things to do and places to visit in the area. We will definitely visit again.
We had higher expectations when visiting the bed and breakfast. We stayed in the double bedroom guest room and it said private bathroom, the bathroom wasn’t connected to the room so we had to walk out into the public hallway. We were not able to control the temperature and the bedrooms were very cold. We also felt like we didn’t have a lot of privacy the owner was always around. We would not visit this bed and breakfast again.
This was only my second time at a B&B. This place is walking distance to the Main Street shops and restaurants and about three blocks from President Grant's house. Joan is your host and owner. She is ready to help with plenty of first-hand knowledge. The beds are comfortable, very clean and all of the touches. Homemade cookies, a fridge with bottled water, sodas, coffee, and teas. Bathrooms are nice, well supplied and great water pressure. Joan's breakfasts are wonderful. A real cherry with cream cheese coffee cake, egg dish, fresh-squeezed orange, and mango juice. The next morning candied bacon, who knew you make bacon better than bacon!! The best part, Joan loves it. You can feel she is there to enjoy people and make their trip a better day. Thank you.
If you find yourself going to Galena, i can recommend you staying at this BnB. They are very friendly and the breakfast was something special. It is a Quick walk to the main Street. The only downside is that it is close to the Road.
My sister and I had the pleasure of staying in the Lucretia Suite. We had connected bedrooms and a private bath. It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Our host, Joan and Dave, we’re awesome and made us feel like old time friends. Joan made a scrumptious breakfast of breakfast casserole, Dutch baby pancakes with blueberries, peach croissants, juice, and coffee. She shared the history of the home and highlighted architectural details. Joan and Dave have a wealth of knowledge about the community, points of interest and Galena history. We enjoyed chatting on the front porch with Dave. Lots of laughs and stories shared. Joan and Dave are the ultimate hosts. We left feeling relaxed and happy ... and like old friends. Looking forward to the next time!
