Detailed Reviews
My girlfriend and I spent only a night here. We are both “broke college students” and it was extremely affordable, and offered every accommodation we could ask for. Since it is a slower season, we were the only ones there, but I can imagine it would be quite fun if there was, as there is a common area that all the guest would share, including a kitchen. Bill, the owner, I remember his name correctly, sat us down at check in, and went over the whole town, even pointing out to us where bathrooms would be located when you get into town. Galena downtown area is an easy 10 min walk, but due to weather we could not make it ourselves. Overall had an amazing experience and would recommend to any couples looking for an affordable, quaint, and nice place to stay while visiting Galena!

My wife and I had a lovely time at Greenbiar.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They showed us around the property and room and gave us tips on where to visit in Galena.
The suite was lovely and had a fireplace and the bed was very comfortable. There is a mini fridge and includes waters, and a coffee maker. There is technically WiFi, but the signal was so poor it wasn't usable. It would be nice if the WiFi signal could be upgraded because Galena does not have cell phone service anywhere in town so the lack of WiFi made it hard to communicate or look up things to do.
The property sits on lovely grounds with a beautiful patio in the back to sit and relax. The location is about a 5 minute walk to the downtown main street which made it really easy to get to where we wanted, however it sits right on a very busy road. Our room faced the road and the traffic was very busy even in the middle of night. Any time a semi went by the bed, windows and decor rattled. It felt like there were little earthquakes every few minutes.
The breakfast is included, and comes with a juice, a fruit, and a muffin. While we enjoyed the food, it would have been nice to have something other than a muffin for breakfast. Maybe some other options like granola, yogurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, salamis etc. Unfortunately the coffee included in the room is Folgers packets so we ended up going out for coffee instead.
Overall we had a really wonderful time here and would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and we could not be more pleased. The room was perfectly decorated to match the time period that the inn was originally built. While the bed looked like it belonged in a museum, it was heavenly to sleep on and so perfectly cozy. They provided so many amenities, like a sitting room where you could play games and a kitchen where you could help yourself to tea, coffee, and cocoa. And do NOT underestimate the breakfast. We were initially underwhelmed when we saw that the breakfast included juices, fruits, and muffins, but the muffin was the size of my head and tasted absolutely incredible. Not to mention that they threw in some hot banana bread on the side. The best part about the inn is that it’s a short walk to downtown so you don’t need to worry about finding parking. All in all, this place far surpassed our expectations and we will be coming back here in the future.

My friend and I planned a girls weekend in Galena and needed a place to stay. We were a little leery staying at a bed and breakfast as they can sometimes feel a bit like you're renting a room in someone's private home (like you're being watched) but this establishment did not feel that way at all. Our suite had it's own entrance from the outside and we never heard a peep out of any of our neighbors. We were greeted with a friendly face (eyes mostly - as we're all wearing masks) and we were given a tour of our room. It had a charming historic feel, with a few nice modern touches. Everything was very clean and welcoming. The breakfast was very good, warm muffins and complimentary banana bread, and came in a cute little picnic basket! We were very impressed and will definitely be back!

We stayed her with friends and the owner Bill couldn't have been more helpful. Upon arrival, he gave us a tour of the property and each of our rooms. The rooms were comfortable with charming antique decor and Calvin Klein towels.
Breakfast baskets were brought to the room and included juice, fruit, muffins and warm banana bread. Bill also offered up umbrellas, maps of the town and was happy to make suggestions and reservations for dinner.
Had a wonderful weekend with friends and would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in a lovely room in the federal style building with separate entrance. We had a fireplace with ceramic pottery tiles, a luxury bed and feather pillows. The towels were plush and in abundance. The shower was hot and great water pressure. We got a tour of the property by the owner with points of interest in the area and all amenities covered. We enjoyed a nice breakfast of juice, coffee, fruit and warm bread and muffins straight out of the oven. The house built in 1832 is resplendent in antiques and the original wide plank floors. The common areas are stocked with good books, a nice variety of games for everyone.
We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The property faces the road but we slept soundly as the house is well insulated and snug! There are forested hills behind the house and wild life visit. We will be back. Wonderful hosts!

Although it was a blustery and rainy weekend, my friend and I loved our stay at the Greenbriar. Our room was cozy yet spacious (the bathroom is huge!) Loved having a fireplace in the room too. Bill is a treasure - he checked us in and made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast muffins and fresh baked breads were worth the trip in and of themselves. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Do note that this is an INN and not a B&B although this place is as well appointed as many traditional B&B's and is, I feel, budget friendly. There are outside entrances to all rooms and your breakfast basket is brought to your room. There are multiple buildings on a lovely wooded corner. Main Street is an easy and safe walk or just a couple of blocks. I'm looking forward to a return trip and will definitely stay at the Greenbriar again.

Large room, the fireplace was a BIG plus in the winter. We slept with it on. Every time I woke up it was so great to stare at to put me back to sleep. The hostess was very personable and helpful. The location was close to everything we were doing and not having to stress about parking was key! We will be staying here again. I'd love to visit in the summer and enjoy the fire pit they have.

This lovely BNB is in perfect walking distance from the hustle and bustle of Main Street in downtown Galena. It’s enough removed from the sounds and tourists yet close enough to not need a car to get everywhere.
The owners are very welcoming and provide a helpful tour and accommodation explanation. Breakfast options consist of juice, fresh fruit and fresh homemade muffins, so if you’re seeking a morning of eggs and bacon, you’ll have to take the short walk to Main and hit up a restaurant for that. However the room does provide a small coffee maker, with cream and sugar.
Our room was made up of comfortable furnishings, a warm gas fireplace and a small refrigerator, with a private bath.
We have stayed here now on two separate occasions, and are happy to say that upon our latest stay, we became engaged.

This is the 2nd time that we have stayed in a suite at the Greenbriar. We had exceptional service both times. The suite was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The proprietor even took the time at check-in to show us where all the public restrooms were in the shopping district which can come in very handy. Very friendly and attentive to your needs. A variety of choices for breakfast was delivered to our door in the morning within 10 minutes of ordering. Will stay here again.

Although there are many rooms available, we always stay in the same one, so I am not sure it any of the others are handicap accessible. If you contact the Greenbriar directly, I am sure they would be able to answer all of your questions.
