We stayed during the first week of July. I booked the room through Groupon for about $30 less per night, which is the good news. The Groupon rate did not allow for changes, cancellations, or choosing the suite of your preference. We really enjoyed our stay, but I would prefer to be able to choose my room next time.
The rooms are fully stocked with coffee, both regular and decaf, cream, and sugar in ample amounts. Silverware, mugs, glasses, dish soap, and paper towel were also stocked along with an in room microwave and mini-fridge with 2 waters inside. The ice bucket was also filled daily. The bathrooms included a towel warmer, cotton balls, q-tips, and toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The bath included extra towels for two and foaming milk bath and the closet held two bathrobes.
We ordered room service from the inn's restaurant, which offers fine dining choices. A complete breakfast was served in-room daily as well.
The grounds were beautifully kept and the room was very clean. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
We were truly able to relax because the staff took care of everything you could need. Our room had a private exit. It worked out well for taking a trip in the middle of coronavirus pandemic.

This was the first trip to Galena for my husband and I. The Goldmoor Inn has a very beautiful location in the country about 6.5 mile from town . The hotel is Very well kept and our room/suite was immaculate. upon arrival the champagne was on ice, the Roses on table were beautiful and fresh and ice bucket was already filled. Had room service our first night as restaurant was booked. Room service was very prompt and hot food was hot and cold foods were cold. Do be aware (as we were not) that they add 18% gratuity to your bill. i would highly recommend the 90 minute massages ( I had the Hot Stone & husband had the Deep Tissue) They were the best massages we have had and we get 1 to 2 massage on every vacation and we travel all our the world. We stayed in the Elizabeth Suite - was Fabulous!!!

We visited the Goldmoor Resort the first week of June, 2020. It was a quiet and beautiful change from life in the city. The owners are careful to make sure the rooms and dining service are free from any potential health virus issues. The views of the River are outstanding, the rooms and cabins are very comfortable and the dining outstanding. We also hiked along the Mississippi. The natural surroundings were a nice change from the city. The owners go out of their way to be helpful.

While looking for a COVID-19 safe, in-state getaway from Chicago, we decided on the Goldmoor Inn and were so happy we did! Everything about our trip was excellent! Room: We stayed in the Covington Suite, which was right off the lobby but had its own private hallway before entering the main suite so we were separated from the lobby noise. It was also attractive because it had its own private separate entrance on the side of the property, just to the left of the parking lot. This made it possible for us to limit our contacts with others as much as we wanted. The room was very spacious and clean and although the microwave and mini fridge could use updating, they were both very clean and worked properly. There were several very nice personal amenities like bottled water, reg and decaf coffee, sugars, creamers, hot chocolate, real coffee mugs and glasses, silverware, plates and bowls, and salt and pepper shakers. There were also extra bathroom amenities like bubble bath provided for the whirlpool tub, lip balm, cotton balls, Q-tips, a towel warmer and robes. Food: There were delicious cookies left for us every day and the included daily breakfast was really good and delivered hot to our room each morning. Each item was covered and the meal was delivered in an insulated bag and left outside the door to limit contact. We did eat in the restaurant on the property which was also right off the lobby and we felt very safe because capacity was very limited and we were offered a booth in its own area with no one anywhere close to us. The food in the restaurant was also excellent! Room service was also available. Spa: We had 60 min deep tissue couples massage and wished we had gotten 90 mins because the massage therapists were both so good. General safety: Everyone we encountered was masked and kept appropriate social distance. We went into downtown Galena and had same experience. While we didn’t go exploring the property, everything at hotel appeared to be in top shape and clean and it snowed twice while we were there and the maintenance staff even cleared the snow quickly. The owners were present every day we were there and clearly take great pride in their business and it shows. We will definitely come back again!

We selected the Timberline Log Cabin with a king bed, two person Jacuzzi, gas fireplace, and kitchenette. We wanted to bring our dog with us so the log cabin was the only choice that allowed dogs-great. Beautiful grounds and the main building was striking and castle-like. We were going to ski at Chestnut Mountain which is just down the road from The Goldmoor Inn, less than 2 miles, very convenient. We loved the huge, fresh and warm breakfasts that were delivered to us, very nice. One morning we had Omelettes, sausages and potatoes, the second morning blueberry pancakes and bacon. Both mornings also included fresh juice, fruit, pastries and yogurt with granola. The kitchen was well stocked with ground coffee, cream and bottled water in the refrigerator. We could've used one sharp knife and a cutting board. The Jacuzzi was nice, although when I first turn on the jets it spat out some very old water that must have been left in pumps for a very long time, that stunk of sulfur and ended my Jacuzzi early. There was no hot water left to re-fill it. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Wished the restaurant had been open. And my one complaint would be that our mattress was very hard, uncomfortable. I expected better for my $350\ per night charge. I saw the same complaint concerning the cabin mattress from 2017.

Stayed in the chef’s quarters room which was absolutely perfect. Loved the hot tub overlooking the Mississippi River. Breakfast and indoor dining was delicious and very clean/careful which made us feel much better about traveling during the pandemic. Staff were lovely snd incredibly helpful. Would definitely recommend!

I write an honest review we stayed over the 4th of July weekend and there was nothing that wowed, the rooms were large but the carpet dirty and there was splatter on both the kitchen walls and the bathroom walls. We also felt that although breakfast was included for the price (over $700 for two nights)it should have been a little more instead of two waffles and two piece of bacon...just seem very cheap for what you paid...it was nice location and quite. But for the money I would recommend you spend it else were...We will be trying the Le Verve next time.

Wonderful suite with fireplace and jacuzzi superb. Bed was super comfortable. I’m only giving 4 stars because the restaurant did not have any space for us to eat even though we tried reserving the day before. I think when you are paying the kind of money this inn costs they should have a table available for hotel guests even if they have to open a half hour early to serve. It is inconvenient to have to drive somewhere in the cold to search out food when your reason for staying was a romantic time in. We were able to eat the first night and the food was very good. Also, the charcuterie board I had ordered for arrival was greatly subpar. No mustard, jams or bread, only a few slices of salami and no other meats (pate etc), a chunk of Brie and some hard cheese, and some grapes and a few sprinkled pistachios.

We had a wonderful weekend at Goldmoor Inn. From the booking by phone to the farewell from Slobo, (the owner) The view from our suite looked out at the Mississippi River and the white swans were migrating at this time. We saw hundreds. We hoped for a sunset, it turned out to be a rainy weekend. That did not make it any less perfect. The suite was very spacious with music playing softly when we checked in and a full ice bucket :) Our requests for breakfast were met with no problems, served in our room at requested time. Dinner was exceptional. I had flounder and my husband had lamb shank. The menu changes with the season and cannot wait to stay again and see what they are offering. The country around the Inn is beautiful rolling hills and the views are incredible. Many parks for hiking and trails for biking. And very short drive into Galena for shopping, eating, and having a Bloody Mary. We will definitely be back to Goldmoor Inn.

This is the perfect place for a relaxing, cozy, upscale getaway. My husband & I chose this location for a much needed break from reality. The drive is full of spectacular views, and the look of the Goldmoor Inn is quite unique. The staff is very polite and informative. The facilities are very clean and charming. Upon arrival to our room, we discovered a bottle of chilled champagne & glasses, fresh cookies, and fresh cut flowers set out beautifully on a cloth covered dining table for 2. Soft music was playing on the TV. Mood lighting was available. The bed was super comfy. Everything was perfect. Dinner is a must! The food is outstanding! Then, a gourmet breakfast delivered to our room was an awesome bonus! We felt so spoiled and so relaxed. I would highly recommend! We didn't want to leave!

Dear Eliza, the Mississippi suite, the Arthur suite, the English, French and Irish cottages, the Chefs Quarter, the Veranda suite and the Turret. All have a beautiful view over the Mississippi river. The English, French and Mississippi have a screened in porch.
Irish has a balcony but not screened.Covington has a river view but is on the ground level. It also has a walk out seating area.
